Are cars at an Insurance Auto Auction repaired before being sold to the public? hi im planning on buying a car from a local Insurance Auto Auction. I know that the vehicle is a salvage title and the pictures they have shown are the pictures of the cars damage, but i wanted to know if they repair the car before they put it up for bidding or do they sell the car damaged and the buyer has to repair the car. THANKS
Where are the police/government auto auctions in New Jersey? I live in Edison, NJ (Central Jersey). I have looked all over the internet and even called a few local police stations. NOBODY KNOWS. Any help will be appreciated as I have bad credit but enough cash to buy a reasonably prices vehicle. Please give me any info that could be useful. Thanks! Btw... I will give points!
How can i get started buying used cars at auto auction? I'd like to buy trade-ins from local dealers, or perhaps other auto auctions, so that I can later re-sell them for cash. Do i need to incorporate as a business at first? Do i need licensing? I'm currently in North Carolina.
I would like to know where i can find a local car auction? I would like to know where i can find a local auto car auction, where i can find cars cheap, usually government cars or something. I need it around dallas texas or euless texas or fort worth texas or grapevine texas or colleyville texas.... around those areas. If i can find it around there it would be great. I am looking for infiniti g37, or a corvette, or a lexus IS 250, or a hyundai genesis. Can u please find a link or adress, phone number for auto auctions around this area? thanks:)
How does the auto auction work? When dealers buy cars from an auction how much are they paying for a vechicle compared to how much they can resell that vehicle for. EX. I recently bought a Jeep at KBB value from a local guy for $8600 and when the deal was done he told me he bought it for $5500 from the auction. That is 55% more than what he paid. Is that a typical profit that dealers expect to see when they purchase a car from the auction? I'm not worried about how much more I paid...but are the cars bought at auction usuallly problem cars? Again, what type of price does a dealer expect to pay compared to how much they can resell it for?
would you buy a car from a auto auction? im looking to buy a car... and saw in my local newspaper... that there are vehicle auctions in my area... what do you think about buying one from an auction.....??? and how can i add more to my questions once i have already posted it???
Need A Real Auto Auction, Please? Hello, I need a public auto auction where I can view the vehicles before I go down and bid. Its ok if I have to pay a monthly fee...but it just seems like I have to pay one website to get to another an another and so on. Is there a legit real website I can join and find a vehicle besides ebay, please? If it helps I live in Riverside, CA. I was also told that if I check out my local city auction then I can pick up a vehicle (which will be for my son) from $500-1500. Please help us out, thanx Have A Happy =)
I recently joined an industry that I think is practicing unfair business? I am working in the auto transport business as an auto transporter, picking up reposessed and lease returns and delivering them to the local auto auction house for a fee. About 5 months ago the auction began taking a 15% "Discount" off of our fee if they pay our invoices within 2 weeks. My company has paid roughly $35,000 in "discounts". Talking to auction employees and other transporters, the 15% is not applied to all transporters. The biggest transporter company objected to the fee and the auction stopped charging them. My company is small and because we are afraid of losing our entire business if "blacklisted" by the auction we have bitten our lips and paid the fee, or rather have allowed to have it removed from our payment checks with only mild protest. My questions are first, the transportation fees are paid by finance companys that own the cars, not by the auction. Do they know the auction is taking a 15%? Second since it is not uniformly applied, is it not an unfair practice? The 15% fee could not hit at a worse time, with fuel at all time highs and already bare bones payment rates, we are in definite danger of going out of business. What can we do? I thought of going to management, but again if we make them angry they simply wont consign any cars for us to move and we're done. Ay advice? Is what they are doing illegal? (we're in CA). The crazy way the industry works, we have no contract - none of the transporters is on contract that I know of. We are considered "vendors" independent of the auction house. Thats why it is so easy for them to cast us adrift without any regard for my people or how they support their families. Sorry, Link answer didnt work... Foucs?????
Is there any way out of paying sales tax on a used car? My dad bought me a car as a going to collage gift at a local auto auction. When I went to register the car I was told that I owed 300 in sales tax, which does not seem to be right since I paid nothing for the car, plus I currently only have 100. I really need to register it, but am wondering if there is any way that I can get out of paying the sales tax since I really do not have any money to do it. I am located in the US in the state of TN. No douchey answers please, typos happen. Thank you very much!
What are the pros and cons of Auto Liquidations sales? There's a large 4 page AD in our local newpaper advertising a Liquidation sale for 4 days only for 200 previous bank assets that must be sold or they will be sent to auction. Over 200 used cars starting at under $2,000. Does anyone know what I should look for and if there's a catch?
Am recently was suited by a auto finance company and the judge granted them judgment? Well this is where it get very interesting in court I was told that my car was stole at auction for $425.00 I was not aware or giving any notification of the sale of the car no paper work anything.I localed the new owner of the car and asked did she purchases the car at a local auction she stated no that she purchase this car from a car lot owned by the same owner I purchase the car from and was finance by the same company for $12,259.20 the amount they are suiting me for is this legal? They can lied in court to gain judgment, freezing bank accounts, garnish wages this company have place financial hardship on me do anyone know what I could do? I voluntary returned the car cause there where major engine problems and I had it less than 13mos. and was told the problem was repaired but wasn't and the wanted to charge me $4000.00 Am sorry( sued) in court thank you
Bank repossession auction? does anyone know of local repossession companies/credit union/bank auto sale/auction in the Houston area? Thank you! p.s. for the police auctions, what are the procedures?
How will a voluntary repossession affect my credit? I took out an auto loan for my brother to get a car last Feb. He failed to pay, so I took the car back and have been making payments for the last three months. I've listed the car for sale several times on Ebay, in the local newspaper, and now on autotrader with no luck so far. I have a new car myself that I am also paying on. I don't need two cars and I can't afford to keep paying for two vehicles. How will a voluntary repossession affect my credit since I am paying for another vehicle? Will it repair itself as long as I am paying on another car? I know that the bank will auction the car. If I pay the deficiency, will the repossession still go on my credit? I have very good credit and I really don't want to ruin it, which is why I've paid on the car for this long. I am in the market to buy a house. Will a repossession affect my getting a home loan?
Top Heavy in Auto Loan, Moving To Australia: Anyone have any advice? So I'm top heavy in a 2006 Toyota Sport Rav4. The vehicle is good to excellent condition with tow pkg. and pretty good odometer reading, 33k. Kelly Blue book estimates the ``retail'' on the vehicle to be $18k to $22k. I owe just under $27k. I am confident the dealership will offer the trade-in value of $15 to $16k. Thus I am anywhere from $5k to $11k deep in on this vehicle. A crap deal that I was hoping to make better over this next year before I was offered a great job in Australia. The bank will take the car back as a ``voluntary-repo'', sell it at auction and whatever remains between the selling price and the amount owed will be the new balance, as well as a ``repo'' being applied to my credit, which sounds like that'll definite hurt the credit for awhile. I think I can get at $7k from my retirement. My course of action right now is to keep it listed in vehix and the local paper for $20k and hopefully it'll sell before my wife leaves in November. Here's my question or rather my confusion is this: say someone does put an offer on the vehicle before she leaves, and I want to sell it for that, then how exactly do I go about selling??? See I can't get at my retirement funds until I actually terminate my present position, which is October 1. Then it'll take roughly 30 days to process and distribute the retirement funds. So if were to try to sell it right now could I even do that??? I'm not seeing how and hopefully some of you smart folk might have some advice or been in a similar position.
2004 Hyundai Elantra Automatic Sedan; Should I Buy It? The Local Auto Body shop just picked up a 2004 Elantra Auto 4dr, with 54K miles at auction. It was a Bank Repo. They want $5K for it, and it needs some minor body work, which am going to *TRY* and get them to throw in for a bit more/free. I assume it was in a minor accident, have not gotten history report yet. Also needs 2 tires, which my mechanic/tire guy says will be 100 bucks. NBD. Every Edmunds/Consumer Reports/ Etc review i have read is for the Manual 5 Dr Hatchback. Can't find much on the Auto Sedan :( Does anyone out there own/have owned the 04 Auto Sedan? Are there reliable sites that have reviews of that Model out there, that i just haven't found? I have this feeling in my gut that i should pass on it, it just makes me apprehensive for some reason. I have a 93 Grand Caravan with 118K ATM, which gets 22 city 26 hwy, which is about the SAME as the Elantra. Millage & affordability are my 2 major selling points. i know it sounds silly, but my last car i got the same feeling but ignored it and then down the road it was NOTHING but trouble :(
Do you think this is a good deal or scam or some hidden problem with car? Car info: - Selling from very small local private dealer, so there is no information about the reputation of the seller. - The car is a large SUV - v8 - gas 13/18 kind, ads priced at about 3000 below any other ads I found online, about 5000 below the average ads - even about 1000 below KBB trade-in price. - The auto history report shows pretty good. It was first registered at TEXAS at 2005, state inspection at 2007, auto auction at 2008 a few month ago. Showed the car was used as lease that seems like someone returns the car to dealer after 3 years. (Now, I am in New York seeing this car.) Concern 1 - Texas is famous for flooding. Concern 2 - If there could be any hidden problem. I am going to ask for an inspection from a mechanic I used for years. Questions: - Do you think it is safe to buy if the mechanic does not see any problem? - Any suggests on how to identify if the car was but not reported. - Any suggests on what to special inspection I should look?
what would i need to start this buisness? I’m looking to start a company where I go to police, public, bank repot auctions and buy cars a dirt cheap prices, invest some money into them (clean them up, fix anything that needs to be fixed, smog check, etc...) and sell them threw auto trader, Craig’s list etc. for market value. What kind of license would I need, I already have a vehicle sales licenses. What else would I need? And what would I need to get into the privet bank police auctions? Im only looking to do 1 car at a time, so I wouldn’t need to buy any property for it. And for the service of the car I would go to a local mechanic…
Issue w/ a dealer regarding a vehicle trade-in.? On January 20th (2010), my fiance was in a minor auto accident resulting in about $800 damage to the front drivers side fender and headlight...and a small buckle on that side of the hood of his vehicle. At the time we didn't have the financial means to repair it. We went to a local dealer whom I have personally bought vehicles from before. He agreed to accept the damaged vehicle...as is...as a trade-in for another vehicle on his lot. Our vehicle had a blue-book value of a little over $3000. In exchange for our vehicle we asked for NO money...we only wanted a few payments toward the "new" vehicle in exchange for ours....which the dealer agreed to fully. We signed our vehicle over to him and drove of the lot in a vehicle off of his lot. Fast forward 3 weeks......I get a phone call at home from this dealer saying that the vehicle we got from him was on his list to be repossessed. Why? Because he said we owe him $300. I told him, "but you said you would give us a few payments toward this SUV (a 2000 Bravada) in exchange for our car." He replied, "Oh no, honey! It don't work that way. The value of your vehicle went to taxes on the transfer. One of you needs to get over here and pay the $300 you owe me or it will be repossessed." WHAT?!? Maybe I'm wrong, but this sounds VERY shady to me. He also kept saying that we had paperwork yet to sign that wasn't done that day. Fast forward to March 4th (2010).....Woke up that morning only to find our Bravada GONE. He sent his goons out @ 6am to take it back to the dealership. Throughout the day, we constantly tried to contact him but no one would answer the phone. We had a friend drive my fiance over there and they sat for two hours waiting for this guy. Only to find that he was at an auto auction. So...I guess we signed over our car to him to RENT that Bravada from him for 5-6 weeks?!? I mean, yeah, we just GIVE AWAY our vehicles all the time! This dealership is a kind of "Buy Here, Pay Here" type of place. The dealer is an old man who always forgets about things he says or does. Once I went there and he in the past with a vehicle I was buying off of him and I wanted to make my payment. He didn't even believe me that car was from his place. That same car..he wrote one date of sale on my papers and a different one on his. I had repo guys at my home THAT time because he was off on the sale date by 3 days. What can we do to fix this situation? Is this even legal for him to do? Is it a form of theft or something?

What would you do if a car dealership cheated you out of a few thousand dollars? I recently bought a car from an auto auction for $4000. There is no warranty with the vehicle but it had inspection and emissions stickers from Pennsylvania (relatively strict state) and so I expected a vehicle free from major defects. After a visit to my local mechanic who failed the vehicle on inspections and emissions, I took it to a Chrysler certified dealer, who also failed the vehicle and said it was unsafe to even drive. I have statements, quotes and pictures showing the vehicle is in need of serious repair that I can present on demand. 1) What would you do if this were you? 2) If they refuse to compensate me for their illegal activities, I am considering picketing in front of their dealership with a sign letting people know that they are cheaters and dishonest. Do you think that will do any good and how do you think the dealership will react? P.S. If you would like more information, please ask. I'm quite curious what other non-biased minds may think. For those of you who think that it's entirely my fault, do you think the dealership deserves to escape any and all punishment for what they did? The vehicle clearly should not have passed inspection but they slapped stickers on and put it up for auction anyway. I have a report from the state of Pennsylvania saying that they inspected and test emissions. Within the few miles that they drove the vehicle to auction, it could not have developed all the problems that it has. I am not pursuing this based on a warranty but on the fact that they put stickers on a vehicle that did not meet inspection guidelines. That falsification is my entire basis for this. By placing that sticker on the vehicle, the dealer indicated that they had followed state law in inspecting the vehicle. They did not and that is why they should make it right.
I have a 1986 Jeep Cherokee with no key. Can I get one from the dealer? Ok, before you criticise me, let me explain. My dad bought me a 1986 Jeep Cherokee from an auction. It came as a fixer upper, and there was no key. The doors are unlocked, and I know exactly how to get by without a key, but Dad wants to get the original. I'd prefer to just get a new ignition for $10 from the local auto parts store than go several towns away to the Jeep dealer to get a key when I'm almost positve they can't do it since it's so old. I can't convince Dad to go the easy way, so now I've told him I'd find out about it, so here I am. Would they have it on record? How much does it cost? Although I'd rather go the easy way, I'd like to be able to lock my doors. We have a short budget, especially since we have to fix it in the first place.
how can i get a clear title on a car when the sheriffs said it has to be impounded first??? okay this lady i know rents houses out in a small iowa town. well at one of her rental properties a car was left so she towed it to another location she owns in town and parked it. well one day i asked her about the car and she said she wanted to get rid of it she didnt have a title but she did have a set of keys and the old registartion. so i called the local sheriff and he said that i could not get a title for it he said the he could only have it junked or it had to be impounded and i could buy it at a police auction. if i won. i was wonderring if there is any way i can get a title for it. the car does have a lean on it but the sheriff wouldnt tell me where the lean was through. i cant bring the car to my house otherwise ill be charged with grand theft auto. please help me find a way to get a title for it please. any info will be much appreciated.
Does this sound like a fraud.? I have to let you know that i listed all over US because shipping is included in the price. The atvs are at Google Checkout shipping center in Orlando, FL and from there they will be shipped to my buyer's address. The atvs was listed for sale in an auction on Google Checkout but I have removed the add because of some 'serious' buyers . They promised they will buy the atvs from me but they proved not to have the money to pay for it .I have registered the atvs with Google Checkout Vehicle Protection Program and they work only with das auto shippers, so a local pick-up is not an option. This transaction is covered by Google Checkout purchase protection program up to $50,000 and if something goes wrong in this transaction you will be fully refunded. In the invoice you will have the details on how to make a refundable payment and shipping back the atvs will be my concern. I strongly assure you it will not be the case for a refund. I have used the Google Checkout Vehicle Purchase Protection in the past and all my transaction ended successfully. You pay to Google Checkout and they will transfer the funds to me only after you get the atvs. The financial part of our transaction is going through Google Checkout Purchase Protection Program and here are the steps: - I need your full name, shipping address and phone#; - I will forward this information to Google Checkout purchase protection department and they will start our transaction; - Google Checkout sends you the invoice with payment details for our transaction; - after they secure the payment, they will notify me and I will start shipping. Shipping will take no more than 5 days (2 days to prepare the shipping and 3 days for the shipping depending on your location). - after you receive the atvs you will have another 5 days to inspect them. - when the inspection period ends, Google Checkout contacts you and if there are any issues with the atvs, they will fully refund you within 3 business days and the atvs will be shipped back at my expense. If all is good with the atvs, which I'm sure it will be, they will assist you with the title transfer and release the payment to me. I have listed all over US because shipping is included in the price. I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure that everything is clarified before any further steps. I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal with a serious buyer. If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, shipping address and phone number, in order to start the transaction! I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Vehicle repossession in Indiana. Dealer never produced title and has resold vehicle. What is my option? OPM auto sales in Howe, IN sold me a vehicle and never produced a title within 21 days as his paperwork stated he had to by law! I refused to continue making payments until he produced a title - vehicle was repossessed last Wed. morning. I was told repo fees were $700. He then called me on Friday and said the repo fees were now $1700 and I needed to send payment immediately. He called again on Saturday, asked if I had sent the money, which I had not yet. He then stated that he was selling the vehicle that day. Now I am out $2500. and my trade in which he gave me $250 for. In Indiana am I only allowed 3 business days to produce his increasing repo fees, and monies owed when OPM never produced a title as his own contract states? Isn't the vehicle supposed to go to auction and not be sold off of his lot again? Who can I contact to get this resolved or seek information to the proper laws regarding this situation? The local BMV does not get involved and actually tend to side with dealer.
Buying a Car which has been in an accident? I'm trying to get a used car. its a 07 civic sedan LX with 44K and I'm planning to buy it for 10,000. the carfax says it has been in an accident. the description says: Accident reported Involving front impact It hit another motor vehicle Front area primarily damaged Vehicle towed. AND after 8 months the car was sold as a fleet vehicle at an Auto Auction.(I dont really know what this means...but doesnt sound so nice) So prior to getting my car purchased...I took it took a local mechanic and got it inspected. He says that the car has been taken good care of and it shouldnt really be a problem.(he took it for a quick test drive and all) the only problem with it was that the back tires were a bit worn, but I guess I can get that replaced. This car does not have a salvage title or any other malicious title holdings. i'll be the 3rd owner of the vehicle and the 1st owner was the one who got it into an accident. So forum..give me some insights...what do you think? Buy or not Buy? Additonal Info: Number of Owners: 2 Last owned in the following state/province: New York Annual average mileage: 12,148 *Below industry annual average of 15,000 miles None of these major title problems were reported by a state Department of Motor Vehicles: Salvage, Junk, Rebuilt, Fire, Flood, Hail, Lemon Guaranteed No Problem Not Actual Mileage, Exceeds Mechanical Limits Guaranteed No Problem No issues reported to CARFAX on the following: Total Loss No Issues Reported Structural / Frame Damage No Issues Reported Airbag Deployment No Issues Reported Odometer Rollback No Issues Reported I guess its too late regretting now :( But its weird too see how there was frontal damage and no airbags were deployed. If the accident was very minimal for the car to not have the bags deployed... why then was it towed? and sold at an auto auction instead of private party? Hmmm.... I need some professionals on this case..
CAN A AUTO DEALER SELL YOU A CAR WITHOUT DISCLOSING A SALVAGE/TOTAL LOSS/REBUILT TITLE? PLEASE READ AND ANSWER? Ok... My wife and i I live in Oregon and we just purchased a car from a dealer in washington because it seem'd like a great buy. his craigslist ad stated the vehicle had a clean title. Also i asked this question over phone before we made the long trip up there with our daughter! I also asked IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE COMING!? he said no it's a great car. Anyway we got there and upon purchasing we asked again the title is clean right? yes stated the dealer! do you have the title so i can see it? NO we don't have the title yet because we just recently bought it from a local auction. Ok i stated, do you have carfax? he said no which is kind of odd figuring almost every small/large dealer has carfax. anyway no biggy and the deal continued. he said he'd mail the title to us when he received it. Tonight i ordered car fax for fun and check my vin# on my used car we just purchased. well it's coming up salvaged/totaled/rebuilt all over the car fax! i'm very mad! Forgot to mention too that we recently had a new windshield placed in the vehicle and acouple other things. WHAT DO I DO? DO I CONTACT HIM? OR DO I SEEK LEGAL ADVICE? CAN ANYONE FIND ANY OREGON AND WASHINGTON LAWS THAT CAN HELP ME!? BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING! IS THIS ILLEGAL IN MY STATES? DOES A DEALER HAVE TO DISCLOSE THAT A TITLE IS DIRTY? IS THERE ANY RECOURSE FOR LIEING?
