Can I Repossess family heirloom (shotguns) if they have been turned into the Police.? My grandfather who recently passed on had a vast collection of shot guns, muskets and hand guns (some he purchased at auctions, others were handed down through my family. How do you sell old swords and daggers in the UK? We have inherited a lot of Russian daggers (from Georgia, about 25 in all) and also some swords (same, 5 or 6) and would like to sell these but there doesn't seem to be any normal channel available for selling such items. How do I get rid of a wrecked car in California with no title? A couple of weeks ago I purchased a car from a local police auction. It was unbelievably in pretty good shape it just needed a good detailing and maybe a tuneup. Unfortunately, an hour after I bought it, someone hit the car from behind while it was parked outside my home. I went to the DMV to register it. They told me that the previous owner had written a bad check in the amount of $391, told me that as the new owner I would be responsible for $191of that and to bring the registration current would be another $250. In the meantime, the car was totaled and the guy that hit has no insurance. I still need a car. I do feel comfortable riding myself and my small children around in a salvaged vehicle. I cannot afford to buy another car and spend almost $450 to register a car I don't plan to use. Is it possible to junk this car without the title.?

Where can I find a Crown Victoria police interceptor? I recently asked a local police officer when they are phasing out the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and he said 2010. What do you think of "civil asset forfeiture"... consider the following scenario? Guy gets caught by police with supposedly stolen tires in his car. He not only gets charged with felony theft (felony because the tires were worth more than one thousand dollars), but he also gets his car permantly taken never to be returned by the police so they can sell it at a police auction or use it for the local police dept. in undercover operations. Right or Wrong? Keep in mind, the issue is NOT whether he should be punished for stealing the tires, because I think he should do jail time for that, but the issue is should taking a person's property be a part of the punishment AND if you think so, should their property be taken even IF they are found NOT guilty of the crime that started this whole thing- under the guise of "civil asset forfeiture?" This is not some made up scenario, this is the law as it exists today (I seen this happen with my own two eys).... is this police action right or wrong (not legally justifiable, but morally right or wrong)?
What rights do property owners have in Ohio regarding private driveways on their property? My parents own approx 55 acres in Columbiana County. There is a driveway going up their property. A few years ago, there was an auction held to sell a piece of property above theirs - at this auction, an announcement was made stating that this piece of property was landlocked and had no legal means of entry onto this property. Someone purchased it and has been using the driveway on my parents property to get to this piece of land - not only that, they have bulldozed the driveway twice, knocking down a large tree clearly posted with a "No Trespassing" sign on it. He has put up other "No Trespassing" signs and these have been knocked down. My father has asked this person to stay off his property, but now this person is claiming that the driveway is a common law road. When my father tried to make a complaint with the local police department, he was given the run around and told it was a civil matter. When he met with the prosecuting attorneys office they asked if he made a police report. The only easements (or anything else) ever granted were 1, to the township to have a township road cross part of his driveway; 2 to an oil and gas company a lease to put a pipeline across the property; and 3 for the railroad to lay track across a small part of the property. No other legal access is given to anyone else.

For a little more than $2k, a county near me is selling a number of former police cars on an online public auction site used by state and local agencies. The following is an example: Year: 2003 Make: Ford Model: Crown Victoria Mileage: 114,817 VIN: 2FAFP71W83X169857 Running Condition: yes Engine: 4.6L Transmission: A4 Tires: 225/60R16 Good Color - White Condition: GOOD The prices range from 2k to 3k right now, depending on mileage. The auction closes in the next hour or two, and I won't get to the physical site of the vehicles before the auction closes. At this price, is it worth putting down $2k for a former police car? I assume that the county has maintained the vehicles fairly well and that they are simply being retired. The pictures of the outside of the cars makes them all appear to be in decent condition and are listed as being in good condition, but there's no way to be absolutely sure. Thanks for your feedback.

Man Finds Cocaine In Used Police Cruiser BURRILLVILLE, R.I. - A Burrillville town councilor got more than he bargained for when he bought a used police cruiser at auction. Kevin Blais bought the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria in an online auction from the Hartford, Conn., public works department. He was cleaning it last week when he noticed a cracked area on the one-piece molded seat assembly. When he removed the seat assembly to clean the floor, he found a plastic bag containing a substance that local police later confirmed was cocaine. Blais speculates that a suspect stuffed the drugs through the crack to prevent police from finding them. Burrillville Lt. Kevin San Antonio says Hartford police were "apologetic" when he told them of the discovery. how can i get a clear title on a car when the sheriffs said it has to be impounded first??? okay this lady i know rents houses out in a small iowa town. well at one of her rental properties a car was left so she towed it to another location she owns in town and parked it. well one day i asked her about the car and she said she wanted to get rid of it she didnt have a title but she did have a set of keys and the old registartion. so i called the local sheriff and he said that i could not get a title for it he said the he could only have it junked or it had to be impounded and i could buy it at a police auction. if i won. i was wonderring if there is any way i can get a title for it. the car does have a lean on it but the sheriff wouldnt tell me where the lean was through. i cant bring the car to my house otherwise ill be charged with grand theft auto. please help me find a way to get a title for it please. any info will be much appreciated.

Hello, I'm looking for a used bike in the price range of $300-500.00, I've heard from people here on Yahoo Answers that they've had to resell their bikes valued at thousands for next to peanuts; a price I'd be willing to pay as a BEGINNER. That doesn't mean that two, three or four years down the road, when my bike has been overridden, I won't be purchasing a new bike. Against the better judgement of just about a unanimous group of bike aficianados here, I've decided against making a purchase on a $170.00 Jeep Comanche Tsi bike, something that looks like (or probably is) out of a Costco catalogue, another word for cheap, ineffective scrap. Here's my favored options: Craigslist.com (look in my area [Ottawa] and Toronto area) Ottawa Police Department, my local PD, for auctions on bikes. Lastly, a bikeshop... because their prices will naturally be higher than the above two, which will give me less availability. So, where should I buy a good used MTB? Thanks a bunch. In my opinion, the problem with "ILLEGAL" Aliens, people who are here in this country in direct disobedience of our laws, is that their law breaking doesn't stop, and yet they think they are better than U.S. Citizens and should not be prosecuted for their law breaking. Case in point: The "Illegal Aliens" falsify tax documents, and other government paperwork. If I do that, the IRS fines me, charges me exhorbitant interest and fee's and will throw me in jail. They seize houses, business's and other assets to satisfy tax judgements against U.S. Citizens. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this. I falsify a drivers license, fail to provide insurance, or drive unlicensed, and I find myself in jail, being fined, and in some cases, having my vehicle impounded and even sold at Sherrifs Auction. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this as well. I find myself in court, facing Federal, State and/or Local charges of disobeying the law, I have to pay an attorney $200-$300 per hour. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this as well, unless of course the ACLU gets their paws in the middle of it. And by the way, while I'm blasting the ACLU, keep in mind that they managed to wangle a law that requires the Federal Government to pay all of their legal fee's for the lawsuits they file. In other words, they're using our own money against us in order to undermine American Civil Liberties by promoting Illegal Alien Civil Liberties. And that ladies and gentlemen, is wrong. The entire way we deal with illegal aliens is WRONG.

Ok, my local police station is having a confiscated goods auction this weekend and they have 30 psp slim and lights brand new in packaging and they wont make more then $100 and they also have 30 8gb ipod touches and heaps of other stuff. Why concerns do I have about an ebay buyers report? I had an item up for auction. The item was destroyed. I canceled all bids but couldn't cancel the auction. Someone bought it the last minute. I emailed them immediately that the item was destroyed. They still wanted the item. I no longer have the item. Again I emailed them my apology. They said it was a fed offense and were filing a police report on me, contacting an attorney, and contacted local authorities. I even offered them $10 for the inconvenience. They still said "no". What can we legal do in this situation? Father died a year ago and we're still working on the estate. We currently have a law suit against us from the mortgage company and have been trying to work with them but they keep blocking potential sales. Without being notified prior to the decision, they've decided to auction the house off with the county severely under-valued while expecting the estate to cover the deficiencies (meaning none of us 3 kids are going to have a college fund anymore). While the house was up for sale the neighbors went out of their way to gossip to the real estate agents that came to show the house and because of it, suicide ended up on the disclosure which was untrue. We suspect the local police had gone out of their way to talk to the neighbors and may have run their mouth even though it was clearly a heart attack. My question is, can the neighbors/local police(if they're found to be the source) be held liable for the deficiencies or be sued? Sources would be appreciated more-so then opinions. To answer the question of the first poster : My older, spastic, brother was supposed to open the estate up but skipped town for over 6 months when his money ran out from a joint account. Ended up showing back up when the market crashed trying to open the estate. We couldn't pay the mortgage since we couldn't open the estate since there was no executor. After months of trying to get an executor (neither me or my brother could be, and since my mom got hit with the suit for the home she couldn't be) we had to get a third party. Since then we've been battling trying to get the home sold and have encountered problems from the real estate agents and bank. The value of the house was severely over inflated (valued and sold for over 600k, now worth a little over 300k) and the value's been severely depreciated due to the market crash/housing crisis.
Scammed on ebay? Hi, about 3 weeks ago I purchased an xbox from ebay, the price was lower than usuall but it had been an open auction not a buy it now. Was told pickup was not available and that payment had to be through paypal etc. I payed for the item, and the seller said he had posted the item and it should arrive within 2-6 days. The item did not arrive, I emailed the seller about it and he told me aus post said it was at my local post office but its not. I have sent emails asking for the registration number for the registered post with no reply. I even requested contact information from ebay and they gave me the phone number and address. I have tried ringing the phone number 3 times, every time it ends with a answering machine and me leaving a message, haven't heard back from them. Now my problem is whether to report this to ebay, or to my local police[armed with the phone number?]. Will ebay or the police be able to help me, or will they not even investigate? Ebay help PLEASE!!!? OK so I sold this guy on ebay my camera and he won it for 64 dollars. Well anyway we made a mistake and accidentally charged him twice. So I sent the camera to him and he said the details I had on my auction page didn't match up to my camera. I didn't realize this. It was something stupid like I put G5 camera and it wasn't. I thought it was. Anyway I gave him a refund for 64 but didn't realize how it worked and since my back acct is in neg numbers the refund didn't go through. So now he is saying if I dont refund the money by this Tuesday he'll call my local police station and give them my name and I'll be entered in the thief's criminal internet darabase which is really hard to get out of. Should a Cell Phone Dealer Be Responsible For Following Corporate Direction? How Not to Pay Your City Cell Phone Tax MetroPCS in the Bay Area has found a way around paying their fair share of cell phone taxes. Actually they have found a way to save San Franciscan's money. Depending on how you look at it. I imagine that MetroPCS would like you to think that it is on your behalf. When I signed up for my MetroPCS phone I gave them my real name, number address etc. I got locked out of Voicemail and was prompted to give my address. This led me to find out that the address they had on file and the one I gave them were not the same. I went into a corporate store and received a printout which included my recorded address. I went back to the store where I bought my phone and inquired... We have asked more than 4 store managers and one corporate store why the address We gave them was not the address they had on file and we were told the same thing in each store. "San Francisco tax is too expensive"..Save money..good for the customer etc. These stores offer you a chance to "save money" by eliminating a paper bill being mailed to you. In this way the customer can save as much as $3.50 or more each month by having their bill viewed online. But where do the savings come from? Less Tax of course! But wait I do pay a monthly 911 tax of about 80 cents which needs to be collected by San Francisco so I heard. It is curious that I pay a city tax on a phone that is registered out of the city. To be fair it's a good price point strategy for MetroPCS since their product (which is primarily targeting those with limited or no credit, terrorists and drug dealers) requires up to 10% tax to be collected in California which prices the product at over $50. By eliminating the higher cell tax Metropcs users in San Francisco and Daly City pay around $49 a month. Is it legal to sell information about other websites or sources? Here is an example of what I am wanting to do. Lets say I start a website.. www. InternetJobs. com (already taken) and want to post a listing of available internet job openings on my site. This is a work from home job field that is full of scams... like the "envelope stuffing" scams in your local paper. But there are lots of legit openings out there and I know of quite a few. As well as direct contact info for them.. I and my wife are both in one ourselves. My idea is sort of like those guys who sell you info in the paper for $35 on buying police seized cars or houses for as little at $50 each... who only give you a list of auctions and locations where you can bid? They are just selling you the list of information on when and where the auctions are held. Of course anyone could find this information on there own with time and effort.. but they would have to go through the hundreds of sites on the net, and determine which ones are scams and which are legit internet jobs. Yahoo search "Work from Home" and you will see what I mean. So my questions are... 1) Is it legal to compile a list of Internet jobs and post them in a members only area and charge a membership fee for my site members to see what jobs are available for that example internet job or make a list available for download for a small fee? 2) Do those sites have any legal dispute to listing their job openings without there permission? 3) I understand I cannot copy any of their wording or content due to their copyright. Legal advice for car repossession in Texas? We are thinking of filing a lawsuit and need help.? Here's the breakdown of events: Lost a job in March that led to deficit in our home income. We were 90 days behind on a vehicle lease loan with Fifth Third Bank - we had been calling them for months trying to work something out, and they were completely unforgiving. They finally said they were coming out to repossess our car. This past Friday: Called Fifth Third Bank and said that we could make a 2/3rds payment on what was past due on our car. They said it needed to be the full 90 days. We said we could do something over the weekend and pay on Monday. The customer service rep said we had until Monday and she noted out account. Sunday at 6am: Our car is involuntary repossessed while we slept. Called the police later in the morning to find our car had been taken to a local repossession lot. When we called the lot, they said that Fifth Third hadn't informed them that we had until Monday. They said we needed to call Fifth Third on Monday morning to discuss. Monday at 7am: We called Fifth Third. The rep says that she sees the note on our account, but that doesn't matter. She said someone should have explained the risks to us, and they could repo our car anytime, no matter what we were told. We made the payment via Western Union for our car. We are told that once the paperwork is sent to the repossession lot, our car will be released to us. We are told this will at least take a day. We call the repossession lot at the end of the day to see if paperwork has been received, and it has not. Tuesday: We call the repossession lot to see if the paperwork has been received, and it has not. We call Fifth Third, and they tell us to call back on Wednesday. They said these things take time. Wednesday (TODAY): We call the repo lot. They tell us our car has been transferred to the auction lot. They tell us our car will be up for auction on Monday. After some argument, we find out that Fifth Third places a 72 hour hold on cars repossessed, and that we'll have to pay all these fees incurred for the time. Fifth Third still has not sent them (or US) ANY paperwork regarding this matter. We've only found out all this information by calling these places trying to piece this together. TONIGHT: We are told by the repo lot that they will not sell our car because we have a confirmation number for our payment. However, we'll still be responsible for all the fees. My question is - WE PAID ON MONDAY. WE WERE TOLD WE COULD HAVE UNTIL MONDAY TO PAY. And the note saying that is on our account. Do we have a legal case? I know we defaulted on the loan, and that is our fault, but don't we have some rights here? Shouldn't what the representative told us on Friday hold some weight as a verbal contract or agreement with us? Please help. I believe we'll be contacting a lawyer in the morning, but we're just feeling helpless. Thank you for anyone who takes the time to read this and offer advice. Just as an extra note - the customer service rep we talked to on Friday didn't even have our current address until we told her. So, she would have had to tell us we could have until Monday, then sent out a repo order after telling us that.
How can I get out of this car loan? Please, I hope someone in this community can help me. I know this story is long but if you know anything about car loans, please read it! Bless you! I bought a car in July from a local dealer in Glen Burnie, Md. I don't have a lot of cash and my credit isn't great. It is a saturn station wagon that had over 100,000 miles on it at purchase. The car broke down in a parkinglot one week after I purchased it. The dealer cleaned the battery and put me back on the road. The car would cut out at red lights, would turn off when idling. I took it to them time and again and was told they would help me, that it would be fixed. The repairs came out of pocket for me, plus the agreed monthly payments. The mechanic they sent me to replaced the waterpump stating that it was not sending the coolant to the engine and thats what was happening. The problem persisted, so the dealer turned up the idle. Each month I would take it back, over and over, being told that they would take me to court for the full amount of the loan if I backed out of this. The problems got worst, sure it wasn't idling at redlights now. What it was doing though was cutting out while in motion. It broke down before christmas and i had to pay to have it tow. They said it was a bad starter and replaced it, I didn't have the money for the repair and the tow - so they tacked the price onto my total due. I got the car back the day before new years and it cut out while in motion again. I left it at the dealer and the mechanic replaced a TPI sensor. This did not fix it. They said it was a bad sensor and replaced that, once again - did not fix it. I gave them the car and the keys back. This is after desperately asking them to place me in a new car, transfer my loan, anything. I have dropped everything I have into this - and I have nothing. After giving the car back to them, after it broke down in the middle of the highway, in the rain, causing me to be pulled over by the police, they still would do nothing. Days later they told me that they would take the car to auction and tack the money it brought against the money left on the total amount I owe. (1,900). They said they would place me into a car on their lot, I got a huge runaround and finally the owner tells me he will place me in a van and I can make payments on that. I am still responsible for the 1,900 minus whatever the saturn brings in at auction. I'm told to come back the next day and test drive it. I come by and am told he's with another customer, after waiting for an hour I leave. I try to reach him the next day to no avail. I call him again today, the third day and he tells me he needs a couple hours but he has something worked out for me and to come by after work. Then when I get there he tells me that he can't transfer me to another vehicle because I don't have any money down. He also says he won't enter into a loan on another vehicle with me because he doesn't know if the business would be there long enough for me to pay off the loan. He tells me that it is a mapping sensor now that they have to replace, and that he is going to drive the car around for a few days to see if it happens again. Then he stated if that didn't fix it, he would see what he could do to try and help me get into something else. I don't know what to do. I'm so lost and upset right now. I'm on a fixed income, I have a child to think about, I don't have the money for this but I work in Annapolis which is a good 30 minutes from my house. I'm not covered by the lemon law or by the implied warranty law. I'm stuck, and I'm scared to get behind the wheel of that car. It almost killed me once. Please help me.

Should I contact an attorney, or just drop it? I won an auction for a book off of ebay several weeks ago. The book was an international textbook, but I was told that it was in English. I now know that the book shipped out of Malaysia. DHL took care of the shipping of the item. The DHL driver tried to drop the package off once at my house, but i was at school so he left a little ticket that i needed to sign if I wanted them to leave the package. I signed it and stuck it to me door. Waited one day, 2 days, 3 days. Well, now it had been about a week and still nothing. Today i called up DHL and was informed that my package had been delivered. DHL said they called the phone number that was on the box, the thing that is strange about that is that i never left a phone number when i ordered this item. I know this because i received an email from the ebay seller saying that if i did not receive my package that i would need to contact DHL myself because they would not have my number. Anyways, they called this number and at first the person said she had never heard of a Maggie M. Then this person called DHL back saying that they had someone in their house with that name, this person then got DHL to deliver my package to their address. Apparently DHL runs on the honor system because they just trusted for whatever reason that this person was me. I received a tracking code with my order and i would think that someone would have to give them this code in order to make any changes, but i guess not. Anyways, the package was delivered on January 15th and someone, either coincidentally with the same name as me, or forging my name, signed for me. I asked DHL to email me the signature and it is not even readable, just squiggles. After a long while on the phone with the DHL rep in charge of my area they said that they had their man go back out to the house and put some sort of notification on the door because no one was their. The DHL driver said he talked to a neighbor and the neighbor said there was someone in that house with the same exact first and last name as me. Eventually i got the address and phone number from the person that had received my package. The address was in another town, about 45 minutes away from me. After looking at the phone number i knew immediately that something was not right because of the area code. I live in Indiana and i know the area codes around here. So i Google the area code, turns out it is a Pennsylvania number which i thought was really strange, but i figured maybe it was a cell and they had moved from penn to Indiana or something. I called this number and left a message explaining the situation, got no call back and tried them again. This time someone did pick up, this woman said she was from Pennsylvannia, but had never heard of me, and had never told DHL to change the shipping address of my package. She did however tell me that she had talked to the person that i talked to who was in charge of my local DHL. At this point the thing that really gets me is if this person on the other end of the phone number did not change my shipping address then who did? Someone had to have called them or done something, it's just a whole bunch of strange things. I'm also not sure why this person did not contact DHL after the opened the package, it's a college textbook that would be of no use to them unless this person attends the same college as I do. So right now what i know is that someone who may or may not have the same name as me somehow got DHL to change the shipping address on my package, then they signed for it with my name. Should i file a police report to get this situation in writing and get proof of what's going on? So far DHL has been very cooperative with me. Would it be worth it to contact a lawyer? Potential real estate fraud. What should I do? I have a problem I found what I thought was a reliable landlord for a house in my area. I was interested in renting a place of his he had available. I contacted him and he said that that house was still available and he had another place available nearby that was vacant but needed work he showed me one of his places and it looked ok but it was small for my needs but I told him its still an option. I gave him a 500.00 cash deposit for either that house or for the other bigger house he had on the other side of the block. He gave me a reciept of that deposit was very detailed it was for either house. He told me that within a week they would be able to finish the other bigger house that was available and he drove me by it to see the outside of the house and the location. It looked pretty good. I told him I can move in the middle of December. I gave him the deposit the 30th of October. I called him the next week and asked if they were workinging on the bigger house and for whatever reason he said they didnt start it and to call back in a week. I called back and he had another excuse why I couldnt see the house again. I had someone look up the house up on google by the address and it said that he owed taxes on the house of 185.00 plus interest, the taxes we not payed at all. I didnt know what to think. Two weeks after I gave him the deposit he called me and asked when Iwas able to move and I told him whenever you guys have it fixed up and available for me to see I will move either the rfirst of December or the 15th, he replied that the other house I looked at that was smaller and not what I wanted was available and finished for me to move into and said I didnt want that house. I kept calling and calling leaving messages and everything and he is not calling me back at all and its been over a month later. I seen in the paper a week ago that one of his other places is on tax sale on auction because he had not payed for the taxes on another building also. I did a check and every piece of property he owned in the city was deliquent on taxes, and I know that this guy stiffed me for the 500.00 deposit I gave him. I called and left a message saying if I dont either get my money back or move in by the 15th Im taking you to the local magistrate and still no call. It seems to me he gotten in over his head with the economy and used my money to put in his pocket!!! I talked to the police about it and they said that he did nothig wrong and to wait until after the 15th to take him to court. Is this a case of true real estate fraud that I can file a criminal case to have him put in jail? Or is this a legal issue that I can just resolve in court? Or should I do both? I still have a recipt signed by him showing the payment deposit on the two houses to move to.
HELP!! I'm stuck in a Dilemma? Here goes.. I sold my wrecked car to an autobody mechanic for one thousand dollars. He was supposed to help me find a car at a auction. He told me that he need at least $700 to bid on the car. Me being the dumb idiot I believed him. He wrote 2 receipts one for the car that I sold him & the other for locating a car for me. The receipt states that he will refund the money if the car isn't found or if I find a car elsewhere. Later that day I found a car at a local dealer and called him and told him that I needed my $$ back. Its been a month and still no money!! He eventually wrote me a check and post dated it. I deposited the check which was returned as NSF. SO I went to teh Tag and title Agency and had teh title that he had voided by ordering a duplicate. I got the police involved from day one and the same ofcr came. I wanted to reposses the car but the cop was like you already sold him the car so u cnt take it. WHAT ARE my options other than taking him 2 court? He never found the car at the auction. What rights do property owners have in Ohio regarding private driveways on their property? My parents own approx 55 acres in Columbiana County. There is a driveway going up their property. A few years ago, there was an auction held to sell a piece of property above theirs - at this auction, an announcement was made stating that this piece of property was landlocked and had no legal means of entry onto this property. Someone purchased it and has been using the driveway on my parents property to get to this piece of land - not only that, they have bulldozed the driveway twice, knocking down a large tree clearly posted with a "No Trespassing" sign on it. He has put up other "No Trespassing" signs and these have been knocked down. My father has asked this person to stay off his property, but now this person is claiming that the driveway is a common law road. When my father tried to make a complaint with the local police department, he was given the run around and told it was a civil matter. When he met with the prosecuting attorneys office, they asked if he made a report.

Should I contact an attorney, or just drop it? I won an auction for a book off of ebay several weeks ago. The book was an international textbook, but I was told that it was in English. I now know that the book shipped out of Malaysia. DHL took care of the shipping of the item. The DHL driver tried to drop the package off once at my house, but i was at school so he left a little ticket that i needed to sign if I wanted them to leave the package. I signed it and stuck it to me door. Waited one day, 2 days, 3 days. Well, now it had been about a week and still nothing. Today i called up DHL and was informed that my package had been delivered. DHL said they called the phone number that was on the box, the thing that is strange about that is that i never left a phone number when i ordered this item. I know this because i received an email from the ebay seller saying that if i did not receive my package that i would need to contact DHL myself because they would not have my number. Anyways, they called this number and at first the person said she had never heard of a Maggie M. Then this person called DHL back saying that they had someone in their house with that name, this person then got DHL to deliver my package to their address. Apparently DHL runs on the honor system because they just trusted for whatever reason that this person was me. I received a tracking code with my order and i would think that someone would have to give them this code in order to make any changes, but i guess not. Anyways, the package was delivered on January 15th and someone, either coincidentally with the same name as me, or forging my name, signed for me. I asked DHL to email me the signature and it is not even readable, just squiggles. After a long while on the phone with the DHL rep in charge of my area they said that they had their man go back out to the house and put some sort of notification on the door because no one was their. The DHL driver said he talked to a neighbor and the neighbor said there was someone in that house with the same exact first and last name as me. Eventually i got the address and phone number from the person that had received my package(or so i thought). The address was in another town, about 45 minutes away from me. After looking at the phone number i knew immediately that something was not right because of the area code. I live in Indiana and i know the area codes around here. So i Google the area code, turns out it is a Pennsylvania number which i thought was really strange, but i figured maybe it was a cell and they had moved from penn to Indiana or something. I called this number and left a message explaining the situation, got no call back and tried them again. This time someone did pick up, this woman said she was from Pennsylvannia, but had never heard of me, and had never told DHL to change the shipping address of my package. She did however tell me that she had talked to the person that i talked to who was in charge of my local DHL. At this point the thing that really gets me is if this person on the other end of the phone number did not change my shipping address then who did? Someone had to have called them or done something, it's just a whole bunch of strange things. I'm also not sure why this person did not contact DHL after the opened the package, it's a college textbook that would be of no use to them unless this person attends the same college as I do. So right now what i know is that someone who may or may not have the same name as me somehow got DHL to change the shipping address on my package, then they signed for it with my name. Should i file a police report to get this situation in writing and get proof of what's going on? So far DHL has been very cooperative with me. Would it be worth it to contact a lawyer? Wouldn't this be fraud and mail tampering? Thankyou very very much to anyone who took the time to read and answer about my problem. thanks!
Is it legal to sell information about other websites or sources? Here is an example of what I am wanting to do. Lets say I start a website.. www. InternetJobs. com (already taken) and want to post a listing of available internet job openings on my site. This is a work from home job field that is full of scams... like the "envelope stuffing" scams in your local paper. But there are lots of legit openings out there and I know of quite a few. As well as direct contact info for them.. I and my wife are both in one ourselves. My idea is sort of like those guys who sell you info in the paper for $35 on buying police seized cars or houses for as little at $50 each... who only give you a list of auctions and locations where you can bid? They are just selling you the list of information on when and where the auctions are held. Of course anyone could find this information on there own with time and effort.. but they would have to go through the hundreds of sites on the net, and determine which ones are scams and which are legit internet jobs. Yahoo search "Work from Home" and you will see what I mean. So my questions are... 1) Is it legal to compile a list of Internet jobs and post them in a members only area and charge a membership fee for my site members to see what jobs are available for that example internet job or make a list available for download for a small fee? 2) Do those sites have any legal dispute to listing their job openings without there permission? 3) I understand I cannot copy any of their wording or content due to their copyright. Is there anything else i should avoid.
