Local Government Auctions Knowledge Base
How do I find out about what the local government is auctioning off? I know there are some really great deals to be taken advantage of at local car/house auctions of seized property, but every website I go to for the information about it makes you join their site/pay for membership. That has "scam" written all over it. Is there a way to get a list for free off the internet or elsewhere? Thanks!
How do you feel about gov-auctions.org? I'm interested in using the website in my search for a car, and I think it would be very useul, but I'm not sure if it's right for me. I know it will give me access to online car auctions, but I don't know how safe they are, and I don't know if it will tell me anything I don't already know about my local government car auctions.
Where are the police/government auto auctions in New Jersey? I live in Edison, NJ (Central Jersey). I have looked all over the internet and even called a few local police stations. NOBODY KNOWS. Any help will be appreciated as I have bad credit but enough cash to buy a reasonably prices vehicle. Please give me any info that could be useful. Thanks! Btw... I will give points!
Why doesn't the Hong Kong government dramatically increase land supply until locals can afford housing? This seems like the obvious solution. So why is the government messing around with small measures like speculation taxes, etc. I agree these small measures help. But the obvious big lever is land supply? Unlike other places, the government controls land supply when they auction off government land to developers. Hong Kong has lots of land. For example, Lantau Island is mostly undeveloped and it has an area larger than Hong Kong Island. Then there is the New Territories. So why don't they just increase that supply significantly? What am I missing?
government/bank auction car? Anyone buy an auction car before, please tell me your experience with it, can you really find and decent vehicles at the auction? I know that they sold the car as is and there's no warranty or return. Is it worth the risk. Where can I find local listing for bank/ government repossess car auction. There are a few site on the internet claiming to have listings for this, but they don't look very credible.
I would like to know where i can find a local car auction? I would like to know where i can find a local auto car auction, where i can find cars cheap, usually government cars or something. I need it around dallas texas or euless texas or fort worth texas or grapevine texas or colleyville texas.... around those areas. If i can find it around there it would be great. I am looking for infiniti g37, or a corvette, or a lexus IS 250, or a hyundai genesis. Can u please find a link or adress, phone number for auto auctions around this area? thanks:)
why cant i Access this government site? i need it to find out about MOT on car ive just bought.? ive just bought a car at my local auction's "nice little mini 1.6 :D"and i need to find out if it has an MOT certificate the lady there said look on www.motinfo.gov.uk but when i type that in ,the page just loads forever and dosent come up? can people please quickly try that site on there computers for me to see if the site is actually running or maybe i just cant Access it?? www.motinfo.gov.uk thanks
Hey this is my English paper. If you could read this over and tell me anything that you see wrong with it. Thx Within the pages of the epic novel The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, the three characters Rebecca Nurse, John Proctor, and Giles Corey are all driven by deep seated courage. Each of these three characters, were driven by their courage to fight authority when they believed it to be in the wrong. Thought the Rebecca Nurse’s great courage drives her throughout the novel. In the first act her courage drives her to challenge Mr. Putnam’s belief that the afflicted girls were possessed. She assesses the situation to the best of her abilities and comes to the conclusion that the girls are merely pretending to be possessed. Rebecca being a woman and a weaker member of society should, in all respects, bow to Mr. Putnam, but she does not. She draws upon her courage and challenges Mr. Putnam’s belief. This challenge later leads to the witch accusation directed towards Rebecca Nurse, and yet again she shows her metal after being convicted of this crime. This conviction brought the court’s demand for a confession from her. Rebecca refuses to bend her morals and lie to satisfy the court. Her honesty is what is most precious to her she will not give that away for anything. John Proctor is a prominent member of society. He is seen as an overall good man who has strong moral beliefs. As the protagonist of The Crucible, John Proctor’s great courage drives him to fight authority when he believes it to be unjust authority that goes against his own moral standard. This first can be seen when Proctor clashes with Reverend Parris because he believes that Parris is a man of greed, selfishness, and contentiousness. Knowing this, Proctor refuses to attend Parris’s sermons of “hellfire and bloody damnation,” as well as smile upon Parris’s want for higher pay (Miller 26). Proctor’s courage calls him to go against the reverend of his church when he believes the minister to be in the wrong. Within a puritan society going against a minister is a serious thing, but Proctor challenges him nonetheless. Proctor’s unbending courage also shows itself when he goes against the witchcraft court and tries to stop them and free the innocent townspeople. He knows that that Giles had already been accused of witchcraft for standing up against the court, but he is willing to risk it if it means possibly saving the “seventy-two condemned to hang by [Danforth’s] signature.” (danforth 83). So he convinces Mary Warren to testify against Abigail. Unfortunately Mary’s courage failed her. Unable to stand under the pressure she buckled and failed to support her testimony. Proctor then summons up his courage and tries to in final and valiant effort to discredit Abigail by confessing to adultery between Abigail and him. This selfless act shows the shear vastness of his courage. This crime was punishable by death in puritan times, and he willingly admitted to it. To trade one’s life for another is truly courageous. Giles Corey holds within him a great reservoir of courage as well. His ideals and morals are supported by this courage. His courage can be seen in the first act as he stands strong against Thomas Putnam, a prominent figure within the community. Giles refuses to buckle. Unfortunately his courage did not become a benefit to him. This denouncement of Mr. Putnam brought down an accusation upon his wife. He then stands strong against the court and brings forth a deposition, written by him, to help him free his wife. Contained within this deposition was the testimony of an unnamed individual within the community pointing out Thomas Putnam’s malicious motives to accuse his neighbors of witchcraft and buy their land after they had had there land auctioned off by the local government. Danforth then turns to Giles and asks who this person was. With the knowledge that this innocent man would then be accused of witchcraft as well, the courageous Giles refuses to reveal this innocent man’s name. This direct defiance of the court took great courage, but lead to an accusation against him. He sacrificed himself for another, and there is no greater sacrifice. Believing that he would not get a fair trial, Giles decides to not plead “aye” or “nay” against the charges brought before him. He did this so that his land could be passed to his children, but the way they make accused individuals plead is by placing large rocks upon them until they plead. He suffered for two full days with only three mouthfuls of bread and water. While this unspeakable torture forced his eyes to be push from his head and his bones to break he did not cry out. The only words he spoke were, “more weight,” until he finally died at noon on the third day (__________). The courage taken to withstand such horrible torment is unspeakable. This man’s strength and courage can not be found on a tree, it is a deep seated courage which is too deep to be measured and too vast to be weighed. All three of these characters strove forward to fight authority this authority was wrong in their eyes. They may not have profited from their endeavors, but that does not change their character. Rebecca Nurse, John Proctor, and Giles Corey are all extremely courageous individuals.

I have tax lien questions? Who would I contact to find out when the next tax lien auction is? What position in the local government would know? Thanks in advance.
Will "Cap & Trade" make it too expensive to heat your home? Global Warming is killing the planet. So our brain trust is congress is looking for ways to reduce carbon emissions. So they are proposing Cap and Trade. A key element in Cap & Trade proposals to limit greenhouse gases is how to allocate carbon-dioxide emissions allowances to companies. Proposals include a government-run auction, which would generate revenue for the U.S. Treasury. But a detailed industry-backed blueprint unveiled last week calls for a significant number of emissions allowances to be given to companies as free allotments, which would curb the cost of compliance and mitigate price increases for consumers. While both proposals would likely mean higher electric costs for utilities, relying solely on a government auction would mean dramatically higher rates, according to Duke Energy, which has about 1.3 million electric customers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Duke played a key role in developing the blueprint for the allotment program presented to Congress by the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a coalition of 32 corporations, including General Electric, DuPont and General Motors. More than 95 percent of the electricity Duke sells in the local region is from carbon-dioxide producing coal-fired generating plants. An analysis Duke Energy did last summer showed that an initial $30-a-ton carbon emission price would cost the utility an additional $629 million a year in 2012 when fully effective, and mean a 35 percent rate increase for industrial, commercial and residential customers. A $44-a-ton price would cost $864 million and mean a 48 percent rate increase, said John Stowell, vice president of environmental policy for Duke Energy Ohio. So can you afford a 35 to 48% increase in your home heating bill? How are the poor going to pay for this? 2008 was the coolest year in over a decade. 2009 right now is well below the normals. So are we warming or cooling? KSA section - Do any of you farm? Just curious. Agriculture is big in my corner of the world. Do any of you farm or live near a farm? If so, what do you raise or grow? Are most farms privately owned or run by the government in the KSA? Where do you sell your produce or livestock? Is there a local auction? Are there farm co-ops or farmers unions? What kind of gov't subsidies are available? Are water rights an issue? Is farming lucrative (do you make good money at it)? Don't feel obligated to answer all the questions, just add your input as you can.
I have recently received a letter from my local council stating that they are selling the leasehold ? on my property. They have offered to sell it to me for £750 inc legal expenses otherwise it will go to auction in Oct this year. I want to way up the pro and cons of buying and would like advice as it currently only costs me £4.75 per year for the ground rent. I am not sure of my long term plans to stay in my home, I may move in the future. Also if a private landlord purchased the lease is there a law stating that they have to stay within a specific amount or could it be a free for all where they could charge large fees. £750 is a lot of money for me personally to pay at once and the council want cash upfront no installments. what would your advice be anyone with a legal mind or working in the government sector. Good advice old .holl the council are selling the freehold. I may look into buying the freehold after all even though it will put a large dent into my savings but will be worth it I suppose. Thanks
When other countries around the world see the dysfunction of the US economic system...? What is their incentive to emulate us? When the most wealthy in our country can buy and sell politicians who auction themselves for campaign contributions just so they can remain in power; when judges ignore the plight of the many for the gain of the few and the powerful and the connected; when international conglomerates control the means of production and distribution to the disadvantage of local businesses, how can any "under-developed" country hope to compete with that? When foreigners see the majority of American citizens living from paycheck to paycheck, sturuggling with health care costs which bankrupt families, and the safety net provided by the government continuing to be eroded, why would they want that for their own country? What is the incentive for others to emulate or adopt "American-style" Capitalism? All opinions welcomed.

Foreclosure Filings Hit Record High By Kenneth Musante, CNNMoney Posted: 2008-05-14 13:00:31 NEW YORK (May 14) -- US foreclosure filings reached a record high in April rising almost 65% over the previous year and putting municipalities at risk by cutting into the value of taxed property according to a study released Wednesday. Some 243,353 households nearly one in 519 received a foreclosure filing during April according to the US Foreclosure Market Report from RealtyTrac an online marketplace that tracks foreclosed properties That was up 4% from March, and surpassed the record of 239,851 set in August 2007. It's "the highest monthly total we've seen since we began issuing the report in January 2005 said chief executive James J. Saccacio in a statement. RealtyTracs measure of foreclosure filings includes notices of default auction sales and bank repossessions According to the report, 54,574 were fully repossessed by banks in April. Property tax plunge: The record number of foreclosures added their weight to an already saturated real estate market pulling down home prices Plunging home values reduce the money that cities villages and towns collect in property taxes. In particular jeopardy are parts of Nevada California Arizona and Florida whose states maintained the highest foreclosure rates, according to RealtyTrac. "For example the city council in Vallejo Calif. - part of a metropolitan area with a foreclosure rate that ranked sixth highest in the nation in April - last week voted to have the city file for bankruptcy said Saccacio. The state of California had the second-highest foreclosure rate in the nation up 112% over the previous year and affecting about one in 204 households The top spot among states was held by Nevada which maintained a foreclosure rate 3.6 times the national average affecting about one in 146 homes. Nationwide single-family home prices have fallen 7.7% since the beginning of the year to the lowest level since at least 1982 according to the National Association of Realtors and data from real-estate broker Zip Realty showed that the number of houses on the market grew by 3.5% in April. With more homes being seized by banks, local governments also lose out on tax revenue from sale transactions. "It's really hitting the municipalities from multiple fronts said RealtyTrac marketing vice president Rick Sharga in an interview. Ten hardest hit metro areas: Cities in California and Florida have been particularly hard-hit. Areas in those states accounted for 9 of the top 10 metropolitan foreclosure rates. The California metro areas of Merced Stockton Modesto and Riverside-San Bernardino took the top four spots. In Merced one out of 66 households was hit by foreclosure in April. In Florida Cape Coral-Fort Myers came in at number 5 Port St. Lucie-Fort Pierce and Fort Lauderdale came in at numbers 9 and 10. Also making an appearance was Las Vegas a city that had seen heavy real estate speculation at number 7 with one in 116 households receiving foreclosure notices. As Congress debates plans to prop up troubled homeowners the foreclosure rate shows little signs of slowing. Delinquent mortgage payments which lead to foreclosure will likely rise over the next six to 12 months according to a key mortgage trend statistic from First American CoreLogic. What help is available for a disabled veteran attempting to find housing? I am a service connected disabled veteran. I recently lost my house of eight years due to unemployment from the recession. I am now facing homelessness for myself and family. I have been able to rebuild a modest savings just over 10K so far with a goal of reaching 20k in the next month by consigning my personal assets. I am looking for help investing this money into a home I can buy outright via foreclosure, auction or government seized property. I have tried to contact local, state and federal agencies that offer assistance to families facing homelessness but was denied assistance because of my savings or never had my calls returned. My attempts to locate housing so far have found homes barely suitable for farm animals or quickly snatched up by investors with more capital. If anyone knows of information that would be helpful and will allow me to help myself out of this situation please let me know. I currently reside in Loudoun County, VA, (for a limited time), and in case it's not obvious, "Buck Nekked" is an alias to protect our privacy.
Question about property prices .. what's your views? With todays revelations that the government and local authorities are intending to kick start the property market .. If I had my home valued now, am I obliged to put my home on the market for the estimated price or could I top that figure knowing the amount of local interest in my home? Would it be wise to go to auction or go for a conventional straight sale? A reserve price is always a good idea, though I have to admit I know little of auction fees so I would have to take that into the equation. I suppose the bloke that comes round to value the property should be in possession of the facts relating to all my options. I just wondered if you guys would have any first hand experience and alert me to what I should be aware of.
A U.S. Immigation plan from a legal immigrant, what do you think? Six easy steps First a big fence goes up Second, Anyone caught here illegally will be instantly deported and all assets confiscated and auctioned to help pay for the fence, guards and all the bills (i.e. medical) that illegals have run up, and you will be barred from enter this country legally for 5 years after 1 offence and permanently after 2 offenses. Third, any company or person caught employing an illegal will face heavy fines and/or imprisonment Fourth, any local or state agency/government that refused to take part in enforcing these rules will lose any federal money they are receiving and/or be fined. Fifth English will be declared the official language and all government related business (including schools) must be done in English. Sixth we will have a guest (short term) worker program, but anyone staying past their allotted time will face the consequences mentioned above. Also, any child born here of guest workers or illegal immigrants will have the same status as their parents and not be instant American Citizens Oh and BTW the fence is on the Southern AND Northern border. Thanks for the thoughtful analysis Hunglow, very persuasive argument, you’re obviously a great thinker and I appreciate your objectivity and kindness! Thanks hotmomma, but as an Immigrant, even though I am now a citizen, I can't be president. I have tolerance for anyone who isnt breaking the law, I have no tolerance for those that do. I also have no problem with increasing the number of legal immigrants to this country, I actually think thats a good idea, but that is really a seperate issue. And of course this country was built on Immigrants, Im only talking about those who broke the laws of this country to get here. Pancho Villa, #3 Enforcement is always a problem, thats no reason not to make it the law. I'm not sure how #4 would cause any deaths.. thats refering to some city police department that refuses to uphold the law and arrest and turn over illegals. 5. Currently the United states has no official language. we need one and then we can stop wasting taxpayers money with gov. paid translators and translations of every single piece of paperwork. 6. I have no problem changingthe 14th amendment. Citizenship is taken for granted by way too many people. Any immigrant seeking citizenship in the USA needs to take a basic compatency/literacy test and a basic civic knowledge test. I think everyone should be required to take that test for citizenship
Do you believe the New York Times was wrong for making our security measures news? Three Jewish Newspapers The suppression of competition and the establishment of local monopolies on the dissemination of news and opinion have characterized the rise of Jewish control over America's newspapers. The resulting ability of the Jews to use the press as an unopposed instrument of Jewish policy could hardly be better illustrated than by the examples of the nation's three most prestigious and influential newspapers: the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. These three, dominating America's financial and political capitals, are the newspapers that set the trends and the guidelines for nearly all the others. They are the ones that decide what is news and what isn't, at the national and international levels. They originate the news; the others merely copy it. And all three newspapers are in Jewish hands. The New York Times, with a September 1999 circulation of 1,086,000, is the unofficial social, fashion, entertainment, political, and cultural guide of the nation. It tells America's "smart set" which books to buy and which films to see; which opinions are in style at the moment; which politicians, educators, spiritual leaders, artists, and businessmen are the real comers. And for a few decades in the 19th century it was a genuinely American newspaper. The New York Times was founded in 1851 by two Gentiles, Henry J. Raymond and George Jones. After their deaths, it was purchased in 1896 from Jones's estate by a wealthy Jewish publisher, Adolph Ochs. His great-great-grandson, Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., is the paper's current publisher and the chairman of the New York Times Co. The executive editor is Joseph Lelyveld, also a Jew (he is a rabbi's son). The Sulzberger family also owns, through the New York Times Co., 33 other newspapers, including the Boston Globe, purchased in June 1993 for $1.1 billion; twelve magazines, including McCall's and Family Circle with circulations of more than 5 million each; seven radio and TV broadcasting stations; a cable-TV system; and three book publishing companies. The New York Times News Service transmits news stories, features, and photographs from the New York Times by wire to 506 other newspapers, news agencies, and magazines. Of similar national importance is the Washington Post, which, by establishing its "leaks" throughout government agencies in Washington, has an inside track on news involving the Federal government. The Washington Post, like the New York Times, had a non-Jewish origin. It was established in 1877 by Stilson Hutchins, purchased from him in 1905 by John R. McLean, and later inherited by Edward B. McLean. In June 1933, however, at the height of the Great Depression, the newspaper was forced into bankruptcy. It was purchased at a bankruptcy auction by Eugene Meyer, a Jewish financier and former partner of the infamous Bernard Baruch, industry czar in America during the First World War. The Washington Post is now run by Katherine Meyer Graham, Eugene Meyer's daughter. She is the principal stockholder and the board chairman of the Washington Post Co. In 1979 she appointed her son Donald publisher of the paper. He now also holds the posts of president and CEO of the Washington Post Co. The newspaper has a daily circulation of 763,000, and its Sunday edition sells 1.1 million copies. The Washington Post Co. has a number of other media holdings in newspapers (the Gazette Newspapers, including 11 military publications); in television (WDIV in Detroit, KPRC in Houston, WPLG in Miami, WKMG in Orlando, KSAT in San Antonio, WJXT in Jacksonville); and in magazines, most notably the nation's number-two weekly newsmagazine, Newsweek. The Washington Post Company's various television ventures reach a total of about 7 million homes, and its cable TV service, Cable One, has 635,000 subscribers. In a joint venture with the New York Times, the Post publishes the International Herald Tribune, the most widely distributed English-language daily in the world. The Wall Street Journal, which sells 1.8 million copies each weekday, is the nation's largest-circulation daily newspaper. It is owned by Dow Jones & Company, Inc., a New York corporation that also publishes 24 other daily newspapers and the weekly financial tabloid Barron's, among other things. The chairman and CEO of Dow Jones is Peter R. Kann, who is a Jew. Kann also holds the posts of chairman and publisher of the Wall Street Journal. Most of New York's other major newspapers are in no better hands than the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. In January 1993 the New York Daily News was bought from the estate of the late Jewish media mogul Robert Maxwell (born Ludvik Hoch) by Jewish real-estate developer Mortimer B. Zuckerman. The Village Voice is the personal property of Leonard Stern, the billionaire Jewish owner of the Hartz Mountain pet supply firm. And, as mentioned above, the New York Post is owned by News Corporation under the Jew Peter Chernin.
If these illegals knew that every police officer would arrest them for being here illegally would they stay? If these illegals knew that every police officer would arrest them for being here illegally they would start staying in their own countries. In my opinion, the problem with "ILLEGAL" Aliens, people who are here in this country in direct disobedience of our laws, is that their law breaking doesn't stop, and yet they think they are better than U.S. Citizens and should not be prosecuted for their law breaking. Case in point: The "Illegal Aliens" falsify tax documents, and other government paperwork. If I do that, the IRS fines me, charges me exhorbitant interest and fee's and will throw me in jail. They seize houses, business's and other assets to satisfy tax judgements against U.S. Citizens. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this. I falsify a drivers license, fail to provide insurance, or drive unlicensed, and I find myself in jail, being fined, and in some cases, having my vehicle impounded and even sold at Sherrifs Auction. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this as well. I find myself in court, facing Federal, State and/or Local charges of disobeying the law, I have to pay an attorney $200-$300 per hour. The Illegal Aliens get a pass on this as well, unless of course the ACLU gets their paws in the middle of it. And by the way, while I'm blasting the ACLU, keep in mind that they managed to wangle a law that requires the Federal Government to pay all of their legal fee's for the lawsuits they file. In other words, they're using our own money against us in order to undermine American Civil Liberties by promoting Illegal Alien Civil Liberties. And that ladies and gentlemen, is wrong. The entire way we deal with illegal aliens is WRONG.
How's this for the beginning of a story? The day started like many others in the month of November in New England, brisk, cool, not yet full on winter, but with the icy touch of december in the air, like a forewarning of the cold to come. I like many others were poor, educated but had no job to speak of, not since the war that is. The reformation, as many were calling it, was a dark time to be living in North America, very uncertain times. Most people felt like an item up for auction who would be sold to the highest bidder and then forced to adopt their lifestyle. Most, the unbelievables , as we called them, accepted this with a worried face and a weary mind but still trudged towards, what they thought, was inevitability. Not us, not the rebels. We were a group devoted to claiming land for their own and starting anew, the biggest problem was foreign forces who were also trying to claim the very same land for the sole purpose of expanding their empires, and was their way of "sticking" it to the country that they claimed, oppressed the world. The mission was simple, take back what was left of what used to be the northeastern U.S. Most of us had fled the cities and moved into more isolated locations in the New England woods. Mostly in what was once New Hampshire and Maine. The onsets of fall was rapidly turning into winter and the majority of us hadn't yet acquired the necessary provisions to survive a harsh New England winter. Nevertheless our determination would be our source of warmth, for a while at least. When the USA initially began to fall apart the American people thought it would be best to withdraw any troops currently occupying foreign lands and bring them home to protect the extremely corrupt politicians who were the very ones who were bringing the once great nation down. That would have been easy if, the military didn't turn on them. You see, that was a time of unbridled patriotism among most Americans who felt that what the founding fathers have done should be preserved and a return to Democracy, the way it used to be during the early times of the nation, should be taking place. Most, if not all, of the military felt that way and had simply turned their weapons on the politicians. Not a shot was fired though, until the politicians own elite guardsmen, the secret service, found this act of what they called treason, inexcusable. Since then everything has become all hearsay. Most of the TV networks were seized and ran all government propaganda, to embrace their ideals, to listen to what they had to say, and if not, be tried and executed for treason. radio stations were shut down, and all we had was ourselves and our beliefs, until… Until foreign powers began to invade the weakened country and began to claim land as their own. With no discernible military, most places across the country fell under foreign control. Some places fell faster than others, some places were still yet to fall. The scattered remains of the military dug in at certain locations, but most infantrymen went their own way, and simply fought with their local townsman to fight for their homes and states and protect what they believed was rightly theirs. I was one of those people. This particular part of the continent, the northeast, was occupied by the EU, European Union, mostly comprised of British and Canadian troops, so it seemed only fitting for us to call it the New American Revolution. Other parts of the nation called it something different, something more specifically tailored to their region, but in the end we were all fighting for independence once again. It was clear, that America as we knew it would never be the same. A large group of suburbanites gave into the occupying powers without a fight, these were the unbelievables, and were now considered British citizens, thus enemy civilians to us. I, and many other local people including my brother and a few of my hometown buddies were now holed up in a fortified bunker somewhere in New Hampshire. The weapons we acquired were mostly from dead Canadian troops and some were brought to us by military sympathizers to our cause, and others were merely sold to us from entrepreneurs looking to capitalize off of our conflict. Our location was yet to be discovered by the enemy but it was only a matter of time. Ammunition was low, but our skills were high, and compensated for the lack of the latter.
Republicans: Will you make me your poster boy for the lazy, dope smoking, welfare collecting Liberal? Allow me to confess my sins. I went to school on the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant Program. I sold pot on the side for fun money. They paid my tuition and I stayed in school studying Philosophy and Anthropology until the money ran out but I did earn two degrees. I got drafted into the Army and then shot myself in the foot to get out and not be sent to Vietnam. I told them that it was an accident but they didn't believe me. So I got a lawyer and sued them. Now I get a partial disability check from the VA. My dad died and left me his 36 foot sailboat. I used it to smuggle pot onto the Gulf Coast but got caught and went to Federal Prison for 36 months. The DEA confiscated the boat but I had my girl friend buy the boat back at auction with money was had stashed from the drug running. While in prison I learned computer graphics on the government nickel. After they let me out they sent me to Vocational Rehab and I got more training in graphic arts. Then I started a business making fake ID cards for LSU students so they could get into bars and such. Then later I made fake Green Cards for Mexicans. I never reported any of this income, always being paid in cash. I am also a pretty decent guitar player and knocked around South Florida and the Bahamas for years, living on the boat, playing in the bars for tips and hooking up tourists with the local Bahamian boys so they could get some smoke while on vacation. I never sold it myself. Learned my lesson and paid my debt to society. The boys just tipped me for my trouble. Things continued on like this until last year when I turned 62. I never had a legitimate tax paying job in my life but got a letter in the mail from the Social Security Administration. I thought it was a mistake but it turned out that while I was in the joint, they were cutting taxes on the money they gave me to work in the prison printing shop. I had just enough quarters in to qualify for Social Security so I get a check each month. I have since redone the old boat, The Chong, and give some sailing lessons for tourists down here in Cape Coral, Florida. Somewhere in there I managed to go back to school and finish my MA in Philosophy. My girl friend was a dance major in college and she would dance at the topless clubs a few nights a week and paid my tuition to the Univsersity of Miami for my Masters. Recently I was offered a job at the State Prison teaching Philosophy to the inmates as part of a Federal/State college program. They are looking for someone with my credentials. My Masters Thesis was On Situational Ethics In Modern Society. The salary isn't bad but I don't know. It would require me to drive a long way three days a week and it will interfere with my fishing. And maybe I'n not really the right guy for the job. Do I meet your expectations?
car is at impound, help O_o? Well i had a car that i purchased for parts, i had the same type of car as a daily driver, and i took a few parts off this car for the car i drive. One day i come back and the parts car is missing, turns out it was sent to the local impound yard by the police due to it being registered as a parts car and being parked on a public road. Now i was planning to scrap the car soon anyways and don't really want the car back.. the impound fees are more then the car is worth anyways close to the 700$ mark, if i just do nothing and leave the car with them what will happen? will they pursue me for the legal fees continuing to add daily car storage fees, or will they auction the car off or what ever after? Im in Montreal Qc, Canada do i need to call them up and turn the ownership of the car to them? this company is a third party and not government owned, but they have contracts with the police to be their towing service... thanks!
Should Irish or British governments buy this Great Famine archive to stop it being lost forever on 18-05-10? A unique collection of books and seems like maybe a 1000 letters from 1683 ( the earliest I can see ) to after the Great Famine and up to 1848. The letters are personal , business ( landlords and tenant problems ) and were found in the attic ( I think ) of a firm of solicitors in Dublin ( Stewart and Kincaid ) . They are being sold as single items and as lots. I think a collection like this should be acquired by national governments so they can be researched properly or displayed for the benefit of the population as a whole. If you can help or know what can be done to help or want to claim the letters of your ancestors then please help. The links below are to the auctioneer’s catalogue and some articles about the sale. http://www.adams.ie/BidCat/Catalogues.asp?F1=3072&F2=4169&status=C&F4=1054&select=7028&offset=0 http://www.businessandleadership.com/news/article/22455/life/famine-letters-up-for-auction-next-week http://www.clareherald.com/local-news/history-heritage/1356-rare-famine-letters-auction-to-take-place-tuesday.html Don't often agree with you New Labour Voter but this is too important to be split and lost to the public. There should be a joint Irish / British national bid for this, budget deficits or not.
Will American citizens be making any more foreign disaster donations? Like they did the Tsunami relief fund? What happen to the Tsunami relief fund? No one can forget the weeping faces of the fishing families and other victims like them in Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, on December 26th, 2004. Governments were SLOW to respond, but the private sector was swift with their donations, which came from school children’s bake sales, bottle drives, musicians concerts, religious groups and so forth. These ordinary citizens then demanded their governments match their generosity with official aid. As a result, in 6 months, $13 BILLION was raised – a world record. Sri Lanka’s president, Chandrika Kumaratunga, interpreted the tsunami as divine punishment for failing to sell off Sri Lanka’s beaches and forests, as proposed by USAID, the World Bank and the Asian Development bank, just 2 years earlier. These groups saw Sri Lanka as a high-end tourist destination. There was one major problem though. Millions of people would have to leave traditional villages to free up the beaches and the land for resorts and highways. Then, along came the tsunami that changed everything. Sri Lanka, thanks to years of warfare, had driven itself deep into debt buying weapons. It was not in the position to deal with the devastating disaster. It was forced to turn to the likes of the IMF, the World Bank and the US Treasury. This aid of course, came at a price; a price you cannot put a $dollar value to. In exchange for financial aid, Sri Lanka was forced to auction off much of their “state” (public) owned land to FOREIGN multinational corporations. To make a very long story as short as possible, OUR (mine and your) donations were used to construct foreign owned tourist facilities on the beach front that used to be occupied by local fishermen for hundreds of years. We can no longer rely on our organizations to deliver our well meant relief dollars to the rightful victims. Corporate greed stands in the way. Should a Cell Phone Dealer Be Responsible For Following Corporate Direction? How Not to Pay Your City Cell Phone Tax MetroPCS in the Bay Area has found a way around paying their fair share of cell phone taxes. Actually they have found a way to save San Franciscan's money. Depending on how you look at it. I imagine that MetroPCS would like you to think that it is on your behalf. When I signed up for my MetroPCS phone I gave them my real name, number address etc. I got locked out of Voicemail and was prompted to give my address. This led me to find out that the address they had on file and the one I gave them were not the same. I went into a corporate store and received a printout which included my recorded address. I went back to the store where I bought my phone and inquired... We have asked more than 4 store managers and one corporate store why the address We gave them was not the address they had on file and we were told the same thing in each store. "San Francisco tax is too expensive"..Save money..good for the customer etc. These stores offer you a chance to "save money" by eliminating a paper bill being mailed to you. In this way the customer can save as much as $3.50 or more each month by having their bill viewed online. But where do the savings come from? Less Tax of course! But wait I do pay a monthly 911 tax of about 80 cents which needs to be collected by San Francisco so I heard. It is curious that I pay a city tax on a phone that is registered out of the city. To be fair it's a good price point strategy for MetroPCS since their product (which is primarily targeting those with limited or no credit, terrorists and drug dealers) requires up to 10% tax to be collected in California which prices the product at over $50. By eliminating the higher cell tax Metropcs users in San Francisco and Daly City pay around $49 a month. So, If you choose not to get a paper bill you opt out of paying the SF Tax. http://metropcs.com/support/faq.php#200 Could it be that MetroPCS said screw you to San Francisco after the city won repeated attempts to force potentially harmful transmission towers to be built under protest in the community. see: Metro PCS v city and county of San Francisco. http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/coa/newopinions.nsf/924A93785E9B655988256FBD005FBEB6/$file/0316759.pdf?openelement I'd sure like to know why our external account billing will record an out of town address such as the 89 Linden ave, South San Francisco address some stores use. We have uncovered more than a dozen MetroPCS dealers who send their customer call records to this address. This address is needed by government to verify the Cell Owner relating to tax and other purposes. Have MetroPCS and it's 40 independent dealers in San Francisco and Daly City conspired to defraud or inhibit with the collection of it's cell phone tax? Are they failing to keep accurate customer records which could be helpful in approved police investigations? Is this the tip of a larger pattern and practice? Los Angeles taxes their local customers 10%. In fact there are 160 Cities in California requiring a utility users tax. http://www.citymayors.com/finance/phone_tax.html Here is a link to the related City Tax Code 1.703-2 page. http://www.sfgov.org/site/treasurer_page.asp?id=17806 What also isn't clear is whether printed call records are being sent to addresses outside of the city to comply with the local usage and address verification ordinance. What this means to you the customer is that your personal call records may be accessed and retained by unknown third parties. Which last time I checked is illegal. Not to mention with all the NSA illegal Domestic wiretapping hitting the news. When you sign up for a pre-paid anonymous cell phone in San Francisco chances are that your calls are not anonymous any longer. Hello Hello Hello A little history on MetroPCS http://www.buyblue.org/node/1503/view/summary With the courts on its side, MetroPCS Communications has battled back from bankruptcy. The company is developing its phone networks using CDMA (code division multiple access) technology. It operates in the metropolitan areas of Atlanta, Miami, Sacramento, and San Francisco. In 1995 MetroPCS purchased 14 spectrum licenses in an FCC auction but claimed the price was too much. The matter was argued in the courts, and the FCC sought help from the US Supreme Court, which denied it a hearing; in 2001 the deal price was reduced from $1 billion to $166 million. CEO Roger Linquist and CTO Malcolm Lorang founded MetroPCS in 1994. While MetroPCS and it's dealers have some splainin to do, $834 Million Dollars says this company will find a way out. Does the City have the guts to stand-up and demand a proper review against a former partner to Arthur Anderson, a Private Council to the President, a Barbary Coast Consulting client? Will all 40 Independent dealers like EZ Wireless in San Francisco be held responsible and split the bill? Only Time Will Tell... I wouldn't count on the Chronicle speaking too harshly about one of its bigger advertising clients though. Here's what USA Today has to say after finding out MetroPCS hasn't upgraded it's 911 system in Florida published a week or so ago. http://www.nbc-2.com/articles/readinvestigativearticle.asp?articleid=8251&z=5&p= MetroPCS is a non-union, low budget-high profit operation. They have sued the city more than once and have cost the city of San Francisco a lot of money. They came to the table offering competitive service, comparative value and considerable tax subsidy. Maybe its time the city replaces their contract. Or Not! What is your opinion? Can You Hear Me Now? C. History

On government auctions? How do govt auctions for cars work? If i'm interested in buying a car how do i find out local listing or go to an auction? Someone said you have to have some sort of special license to buy from them is that true? Just any information you can give me on how they work and how i would go about doing this myself is greatly appreciated :)
