What do you think of my poem? She came into my room with a book under her hand, She whispered something to me I couldn’t quite understand. Her radiance blinded the eyes of this man, I’d never seen a person shine so bright. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? I’ve been living here for such a long time, Like my father’s father, it’s a hell of a line, And nobody saw me when I stole that drop of wine, But somebody had me in her sights. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? Once upon a time about a hundred years ago, It may be even longer, I don’t really know, A young girl in the garden trying to make the flowers grow, But she never really got it right. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? A sweetness so divine, she locked herself into a room, Her only occupation was to make the flowers bloom, But now her bones are powder in a semi-naked tomb, Her hollow eyes were shut up much too tight. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? Now you’ve got your presents and you share them with the king, Whose ulterior motive is to steal everything, He’s got your silver necklace and your antique diamond ring, Which he polishes to make it shine so bright. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? Now Jesus and the heiress take their property away, While Mary Magdalene invites the boys to come and play, And Lorna tells the prophet, it’s such a beautiful day, Won’t it be sad when day turns into night? She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? Now society guides you through like you’re some temptress, Grabs your hand and pulls you far away. But I can’t reach to haul you from the darkness, And pull you back into the glaring light of day. Oh, you’ve dined with princes and paupers, who use you, To gain some incentive from the artwork that they do, They plead for democracy, but they haven’t got a clue, What to do to make the system right. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? The loneliest wanderer transcend from town to town, A slip of fine leather between her sole and the ground, Arrives someplace, gets asked, “What brings you round?” She says, “I follow the moon each and every night.” She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? Now the leaders of the world in their offices of the elite, Discussing the hungry, and what they should get to eat, But some war-torn country suffering some great defeat, She heads out there to make the wrongs go right. She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte? She wanders like the living and she doesn’t know she’s dead, Do you, Lorna Whyte?
How do you know when a dusty antique from your attic is worth something? My fiance and I are going thru my and his parents house tommorrow as part of a huge multifamily "spring cleaning" event. Our jobs are too gather up any items that look like they could be collect ables or worth anything and sell/pawn or whatever. My question is.. can you tell by looking at an item if its really worth anything? To an "untrained eye" I mean. What are some things to keep an eye out for? We've been watching pawn stars and antique roadshow episodes for the last couple weeks getting prepared for this lol What are some items that might typically be overlooked that could be worth some good money? His parents and mine are both borderline hoarders.. we already know his family has a very old photograph machine-thing. I forgot the name, but you put old photographs in a holder, than look into some eye pieces and it makes it bigger or something. IDK. They also have a really old chess board, WW2 clothing, and a TON of books from the early 1900s. Just looking for any advice/guidelines to go by. Thank you!

What's the best way to tell one of your favorite "southern men" happy birthday tomorrow? My dearest Cowbell, You know your getting up there when you were around for Mini dresses, platform shoes, Afro's, Vietnam, The Kennedy Administration, Michael Jackson-I am speaking in terms of back when he was still considered black of course, Gas was $0.79 a gallon, Cigarettes were $0.95 a pack, Madonna was a brand new artist and we all said WTF is she wearing? (we had never seen pointy bra's before) Back when it was believed that Milli Vanilli was really singing their songs, and finally Crack was a brand new drug! Please take note of the following...From this point forward you must submit your dating profile to the antiques-roadshow.com, your daily pill regiment will from now on include 2 Geritol, 2 Ensure, 1 Multi-Vitamin (daily) and a Viagra approximately 3-4 times per week (not to be wasted with your secretary since it's not required there) Please do take care as now you are in the "Heart Attack Years!" Your great grandmother left behind a trunk in the attic and your grieving grandma gives it to you...? ...to clean it out and keep for yourself to remember your deceased great-great grandmother. You pick the lock of the worn out trunk and scratch the leather in anticipation to open it. This is like a secret treasure chest intended only for you to know what is inside. Finally the lock breaks loose. You raise the top up, and it creaks to add suspense. To your surprise, you glare in horror into the antique trunk and scream at your finding of a...?
How to make a website where your users can edit information? Let's take this scenario as an example: You have an antiques website. Part of your site is about informing. But, a main part is having people post their own antiques for sale based on location. How could people post their stuff for sale on your website? Basically I am wanting to know how you as the webmaster can create this or what you can use to build this kind of website. Craigs list is a great example. People can post things for sale using that website. How can I make a website where users have enough functionality to add their own items, descriptions, and pictures for sale? I also purchased and downloaded the thesis theme for wordpress just fyi.
What are some really good sites to take picture over webcam? I know about photobucket and cameroid. Photobucket has gotten old, and I don't like how cameroid has "cameroid" written at the bottom of the picture. Which webcam sites where you can edit your pictures (make black/white, antique, and other effects) to it, and it doesnt have credit at the bottom? Thanks in advance<33
how should i go about finding out the real value of some antiques? My mother has some very old pieces that we believe may be worth some money. Can we bring them to any Antique store to have them appraised? What is the best way to get antique items appraised and how do you know if your getting ripped off or not? We live in Rhode Island. I greatly appreciate your help. :)
Would you be interested in having a working, hand operated, antique style pump on your kitchen counter sink? A few years ago we built a new and larger kitchen on to our house. Being a ranch style home in the country we decided on an old style country kitchen design with a porclein sink in the counter and when deciding on what sink and faucet combination for the island we came up with the idea of a working pump and brass sink. I engineered a tank and keep fill system that sits under the counter and holds five gallons of filtered water from our existing well water supply. It works great and everyone who sees it seems to like it. I have been considering assembling kits for the do-it-yourselfer's or contractors and offering them for sale but don't know if there is a market for such an idea. Having been a frequent viewer here I thought this may be a good place to test the idea out. What do you think?
Where are the best places to advertise the sale of your commercial building?? I have a large commercial building in a small but active mountain town known for it's arts and antiques. Outside of using a real estate broker, having a For Sale sign on the window, and using Craigslist....what are other ways to get the word out about your building being for sale? One man recommended the Wall Street Journal, and another the newspaper in Sacramento (The building is in the Southwest states, not California). Know of any tried and true ideas? Loop.net is a website that only realtors can post on. I am looking for ideas of places and ways to advertise my building that I can do.
What do you think this means? What do you think this means? Ok, I know this is kind of odd to ask, but I really want opinions to what you think this Compatibility Calculation means: Dominique, forming a friendship with Sam can be absolute bliss. Nobody makes you laugh harder than Sam, whose sense of the absurd resonates deeply with your own. Furthermore, you'll never find another pal whose home is as comfortable or welcoming. You're sure to delight in the Crab's well-upholstered chairs, soft rugs and packed kitchen cupboards. Fixing meals together can be one of your chief delights. Why waste money at a fancy restaurant when you can fix a delicious seven-course meal for just a fraction of the cost? Yes, Sam's occasional temper tantrums may provoke a pinch or two from you. On the other hand, dealing with your insecurities is no picnic, either. For the most part, you delight in each others company, especially when fishing, shopping for antiques, or decorating your homes. Thats it. Thank you. =D
What's your best home cure or fix? I'd like to know complicated things and simple solutions that you've personally used many times to great avail. For me- this one comes from my dad, who restores antiques. If a wood screw comes loose and its hole is stripped, cut the heads off of one or two matchsticks, stuff them in the hole, and screw in the screw. No glue needed. I've found that the mini books, like what you get from hotels and whatnot, are the easiest to screw into and usually hold well. So, what's your home cure or fix?
Is it bad to have pictures of dead people you don't know in your bedroom? I love antiques and buying old things with a history, so I have a couple of really old pictures of a man. I don't know who he is, but I know he's long gone. They're hanging up on my wall, and last week I had family come stay and they stayed in my room. Point is, they all freaked out and told me that you summon the spirit if you have their picture without knowing them. My mom freaked out and told me to put them down. I'm curious to know if this is true. What are the consequences of me having these photographs?
Does the postal service check what you have in your envelopes/packages? Hi, I was just wondering if the post office or whatever checks what you have in your envelopes or packages because I was planning on getting my cousin to mail me an old antique knife but I don't want to get it confiscated so I guess my question is does the post office check what you have in your mail/packages? P.S I know this question sounds really suspicious but If I wanted to get in trouble why would I ask this on yahoo answers.
Who thinks that there should be an antiques & collectors questions? I have ust seen the question about the Denby Jug and they have had to put it into the painting catagory. I think that there should be a question slot for antiques and collectables. I myself have lots of little bits that Id like to know the value of and Im sure many more of you have. What are your thoughts, and how would we go about getting it onto Yahoo Answers?
This Is A Joke: Mail Man's Last Day&Definitions? It was the mailman's last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the mail through all kinds of weather to the same neighborhood. When he arrived at the first house on his route he was greeted by the whole family there, who congratulated him and sent him on his way with a big gift envelope. At the second house they presented him with a box of fine cigars. The folks at the third house handed him a selection of terrific fishing lures. At the fourth house he was met at the door by a strikingly beautiful woman in a revealing negligee. She took him by the hand, gently led him through the door, and led him up the stairs to the bedroom where she blew his mind with the most passionate love he had ever experienced. When he had had enough they went downstairs, where she fixed him a giant breakfast, eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and fresh squeezed orange juice. When he was truly satisfied she poured him a cup of steaming coffee. As she was pouring, he noticed a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup's bottom edge. "All this was just too wonderful for words," he said, "but what's the dollar for?" "Well," she said, "last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you." He said, "F*** him, give him a dollar." The lady then said, "The breakfast was my idea." ________________________________________****____________________________________ Definitions Alarm clock: a machine invented to scare the daylights into you. How would you feel if you knew early on your whole life would be sad and lonely? I'm stuck so far in the past I'll never be a functioning member of society. I push away all those who try to get close and my whole mentality can only be described as "antique". What can I do? I'll be lonely and miserable the rest of my life. Perhaps a life of crime is my only option? Living off the funds of my real estate perhaps? Hopefully this inner struggle does not cause me to harm the lives of the innocent. Because I can make the lives of the people renting from me a living hell.
hahahahaha another good one? Claude the hypnotist exclaimed: "I'm here to put you into a trance; I intend to hypnotize each and every member of the audience." The excitement was almost electric as Claude withdrew a beautiful antique pocket watch from his coat. "I want you each to keep your eye on this antique watch. It's a very special watch. It's been in my family for six generations" He began to swing the watch gently back and forth while quietly chanting, "Watch the watch, watch the watch, watch the watch. . ." The crowd became mesmerized as the watch swayed back and forth, light gleaming off its polished surface. Hundreds of pairs eyes followed the swaying watch, until, suddenly, it slipped from the hypnotist's fingers and fell to the floor, breaking into a hundred pieces. "SH*T!" said the Hypnotist. You know what happened after that dont you.. gimme a star if you liked this joke.. add me if you like i post em all the time..
What do you say to your mom if you accidently had gay porn on you computer? It happen like this i was on craigslist and i was gonna show my mom a picture of the antique desk right. When all of a sudden the picture was saved i dont know how on the computer. So while i was showing her the antique desk i was going back on the previous picture to show her the second picture on that desk but unfortunatly my mother saw a big wet Penis on the screen lol. So she said to me "take it easy" lmfao. What can i say to her if she dont know im gay?
What are you getting your mom for Christmas? We was going to get my mom a netbook (mini laptop) but those are $250 and we can't come up with that much money. She wants my old digital camera (I'm getting a new one and she loves my old one) so she is getting that. She loves decorating, places like Lowes, Italian everything, and antique stores. I was wondering if there was anything digital she might like that I don't know about.. besides those digital picture frames, she don't like those. So I'm just searching for ideas! Thanks<3
I need help with an Annuity problem. I am completely lost? 7.Your brother is a serious Batman fanatic. Every Christmas since he was a child he would receive a Batman action figure or some other Batman related memorabilia. A few weeks ago Antiques Roadshow came to your town and you stood in line to have your brother’s prized possessions appraised. You found out that the items were worth $5,000. Your brother would like to two full sleeves and an intricate scene on his back featuring the infamous Arkham Prison and a few scenes with his favorite villains breaking out. The tattoos altogether would cost $35,000. Your dad was incorrectly diagnosed with meningitis and completed a painful course of treatment only to find out he never had the disease. He successfully sued the hospital and received a settlement which paid him $3,000 a month for 30 years. However, because of the treatment your dad died 16 years after the settlement. Since his death, you and your brother have evenly split the annuity checks you have received for 12 years. The annuity was and is priced to yield 5.44%. If the two of you sold the annuity would your brother have enough to pay for the tattoos or would he have to sell some of his precious collection? She gives us the answer (Annuity = $68,075.52; Brother short $962.24; will have to sell some of collection) but I have no idea how she got it. I've tried the present value formula, I've tried the future value forumla, I tried the present value of an ordinary annuity, annuity due, etc etc and I still don't know what to do. I;ve been trying to do this for a couple of hours now and this is my only option. Please help. I'm using a TI-83. We can't use financial calculators on the test.
how long does it take for a check to clear your bank? i am selling an antique ring on craiglist and someone is buying it but the check will be made out to me from his co. and i have to send him the remainder another words he is overpaying me and i have to send him the rest along with the ring. what are the chances this is a real check, and if i try to cash it at my bank how long would it take before you know you are safe enough to send the ring to the buyer?
Someone who knows a lot about antiques could you help me? My mother just sent me this with a note saying " I got this at an antique store, you can put it on your vanity." And didn't bother to tell me what it was. Does anyone know what it is? A lipstick holder?? http://www.flickr.com/photos/22262285@N07/3723436148/in/photostream/ It doesn't open. Its about 4 inches wide and about 3 inches tall. Nothing moves at all. Its just one hollow solid piece with the holes on top. I took it to a local antique shop and was told it may be a hat pin holder but they also said they were only about 10% sure.
Can't figure out what the heck this is? (Antiques)? I have an antique gas stove, it's relatively small compared to the ones I can find online, believed to be "apartment sized" (about 20") and probably from the 1930's. There is absolutely nothing on it that says what brand it is. All it has is a star on the front in the middle of the door. It's seafoam green and white. It has a 4-burner range on top of the oven, on legs with claw feet and a shelf on the back. That is all. No skillets or storage space. I just want to know what brand it is, the year it was made (approximately) and if it's actually worth anything. Thanks for your time.
Older people (30-55): What goes on in your mind? I'm 20, a 2nd year student in advertising and graphic designing program. I always wonder, what kind of designs attracts you guys? Do you guys (I know not neccessarily) like "antique" or historical feels? Does it even matter to you guys when you purchase a product or packaging? I know for us younger people, we tend to get picky about how things look and what is eye-appealing to us. I'm just not sure what runs in older people's mind?
What does NO SALE mean and do on an antique cash register? I'm wondering what the no sale key means and what it does on the antique cash registers. I have heard that when your register is having problems that you can use no sale to reset it to zero and keep using your cash register. Let me know what the right thing is to this no sale antique cash register question.
mum's 60th? my gorgeous mum is turning 60 in a couple of weeks and i have no idea of what to get her. I have 2 sisters so we're thinking of doing something conjoined but what? she's a very fun person, not your average mum, not into antiques or anything like that. She bought me and my sisters up on her own, so we want to to know how much she means to us. i don't really have a price limit, but any help would be really very much appreciated!! x Ava
What are these? Vary in size all with covers and pour spouts.? The handles are hollow and have a little hole in the end (perhaps for steam escape). They are glazed redware jaspe pots but that is all I know about them and I think they are antique. Thank you in advance for your help. Hope the pic came out. <IMG SRC="http://usera.imagecave.com/Joybells/jaspe4.JPG">
Adventure Buddy Seeking!!!!!?? Australia/melbourne!!? I know this probably won't get any serious answers, because it is a quite stupid question buuuutt... I'm looking for a buddy!! Like, someone I would actually do things with, not just online.. yeah, a bit dangerous to ask ahaha... but seriously, I really just wanna do sh*t.. there's just some things you can't do with your school friends, and you need to find that one person that you can go crazy with.. I literally need one, I'm practically aching!! Exaggeration really, but you understand what I mean! So, you need to be young.. not trying to discriminate, but old men aren't really friend material.. oh, and I'm a Melbournite, so preferably you need to be too, otherwise we can't do anything :'( so in your teens? maybe still at school, don't really care.. I don't care about gender, I just want you to be loud... I need eccentricity..! Probably going to be active, so you need to be a little bit fit.. fit enough to run, stay up late etc etc. No talents really are required.. except open mindedness.. that's crucial!! Don't care if you have any bad habits really, but would probably need to be independent.. so we can go places and do stuff without having parents on our heels XP This is totally stupid, but I dunno... i just want someone to be totally stupid with, and someone who I could compete with (not bragging shit, just fun stuff) and I don't like discrimination!! Don't hate on things, be it colours like pink, people (stereotypes like indie and emo's) and maybe just maybe a little open to being painted?? Nothing suss, just for school and stuff... not sure on that aspect though... So yeah... this is probably going to go no where, but I can try right? Just a little about me.. I guess... I'm female, 16, and absolutely amazing. One of those statements are false. Nah jks, ok so, I'm a girl, and I am 16 My favourite colour is orange, like in your face orange I love antiques.. sad I know.. but like old books, I'm trying to build up my collection of interesting and/or crazy books. I'm a little arty, not much though. I'm aiming high for my studies, I want to do a bachelor of science. I love dogs, and music - music is my drug, or sort of... :D I can't stand the cold, I like playing video games (non of that sissy crap though) I'm pretty self conscious about my looks, I have no fashion sense though.. I live in the eastern suburbs as well :D Well, at least I can say I tried right? I mean, I doubt I will find that one person on here, but I'm trying at least.
My home was robbed. They took a 18th Century White Tara statue that I have no pictures of.It was a inheritance? I don;t have good pictures of the statue but I know the details on it. It was giving to my Great Grandfather on is wedding which was given to my grandfather on his wedding, then to my mother on her wedding, which I inherited it on my wedding. The statue was in my home in a glass casing and was taken with several other valuable items. For insurance purposes I don;t know how to actually put a value on it since I don;t have the statue nor can I find anything online that is to the T with what I had. Here is the information on what I had: Antique Tibetan Bronze Buddha Statue White Tara Goddess of Longevity Origin: Tibet, Circa: 18th / 19th Century H 24 in.(38cm), W 18 in.(23cm), D 14.5 in.(14cm) Measurement not including wood pedestal Condition: very minor lost of corals, o.a. excellent! I found a picture online which looks very similar to my statue but only a little bigger. Click on the link and you will find the statue on the very right hand side of the web page. Please help me with your thoughts! http://antiquesandthearts.com/Antiques/AuctionWatch/2009-05-19__11-30-26.html
P&S: Girls only (or gay guys I guess? Haha) What's your dream guy like? Mine has a wonderful sense of humor, isn't depressed easily, loves antiques, history, and architecture, likes to go out and eat a lot, also knows how to enjoy the home life like just relaxing and watching a DVD, is driven, wants to be successful, loves animals, has a heart for kids, and is taller than me. Haha. ***I know this is unlikely, so no bashing comments. Keep in mind, I said DREAM guy. ;)
How can I help my family declutter our house? We've got so many papers, antiques from my grandparents' house (after they moved to assisted living facilities), and just JUNK in general. I want to help clean but I never know what papers or documents are important, and I really don't want to throw out like a bill or something... We're trying to move all my grandparents' stuff downstairs to the basement, so that's slowly getting taken care of... But yeah. The problem right now isn't mopping or vacuuming-- the problem is getting rid of junk! Thanks for your help.

Antique evaluators! I need Your Help!!!? I have recently acquired a Limoges box with 2 perfume bottles that go with it. I have been hunting for the last while trying to find a price on it, but there seems to be only one or a very small few of each Limoge box made! I would love to find out the value of the box, or at least know of somewhere to look or take it to. Here is a discription in case anyone else wants to take a stab at finding a pic or price, or even a checklist to calculate my own pricing. Thanks! This particular box is of the small trunk style with what appears to be antique brass edging on the rim and clasp. It is white with gold leaves and blue painted in a way that looks like perhaps a ribbon. There are Pink roses and green leaves as well. Inside there are 2 deep pinkish crimson colored bottles with gold and red jeweled tops.
What would you be willing to sacrifice, in order to provide to provide for your baby? I guess I'm just looking for a little support here, and personal stories or experiences... I'm a SAHM. We are just getting by on my fiance's income, but once his health insurance starts coming out of his check, we will need another income. We share a car, so if I were to go back to work, I would have to take baby to daycare on the bus very early in the morning, and somehow find a way to get my oldest to school. We have some brutal winters here, so it's not exactly an ideal situation. However, I do have an antique piece of jewelry that is worth a pretty penny. It's a family heirloom, passed down to me by my grandmother. Her and I were never close; in fact, she was an alcoholic and abusive to my mother, and I rather resent her for it. If I sell the jewelry, it will buy me a car, and enough money to put away so that I can stay home with my baby a bit longer. Ideally, I would like to stay home with him until he turns one year old. He still nurses frequently, and I can't stand the thought of putting him in a place with no boobies for six to eight hours a day. It pains me to have to sell such a valuable item, but my family is more important. I do worry that I might kick myself down the road, and regret my decision, but I don't know what else to do. Anything you have to say on the subject would be appreciated. If you have made a sacrifice for your family, please share.
What do you know about Thai made home furnishings? And which areas are known for this? I've come across numerous furniture and home furnishings that were claimed to be 'Made in Thailand' with obvious mark-ups near where I live. I'd like to seek out authentic and more unusual pieces. Perhaps antiques. Are certain regions of the country known for this? And is it frowned upon to make inquiries if something is not or not obviously for sale? I thank you in advance for your opinions and advice
Help me fix my grammar and spelling for my paper? Heres my essay Im doing on Ebay and Amazon Comparison. My grammar is really poor :P english is my second language so please help me fix my grammar and make it sound better. here it is Ricky Huang eBay vs Amazon The two most popular online shopping sites: eBay and Amazon. Amazon is like an online store and eBay is not an online store, more of an auction house and is a site where people go to buy and sell their stuff. Both are really successful companies; but which is better- eBay or Amazon? Well, I think eBay is better than Amazon for many reasons: I find it easier to use, more people use it, more items, and more payment methods. Through my research and my personal experience eBay is a bit more expensive, but you get more options like payment and page layout. Unlike Amazon, eBay charges a listing fee whether or not an item sells, as well as any applicable PayPal fees. But its commission is also much lower than Amazon's (8 percent on items under $25, compared with 15 percent). I call this a Tie. So what kind of payment methods do these sites offers? What is payment method? Well payment is pretty much how you going to pay for your things. Most common payment methods are credit cards and bank transfer. Amazon only accepts Credit/Debit card or an Amazon Gift Card. While eBay can accept PayPal, money orders, cashier’s checks, or cash (in person). As you can see eBay gives the seller more payment options than Amazon. I say eBay wins this one. Next is format. Format is basically how you going to seller your items for example eBay popularized the auction format listing and Amazon concentrates solely on fixed-price listings. So which is better? So eBay is better if you are selling antiques and collectibles, as auctions are easily the best way to get the best prices. The Amazon buyer is more affluent, and pays a higher average price for products. EBay is trying to downplay auctions and encouraging fixed-price listings. I call this an eBay win Taxes, we all know what taxes is you pay taxes for things you buy. EBay enables sellers to collect applicable taxes in addition to the sale price which means sellers won’t lose any money to taxes. Amazon sellers are responsible for the sales tax on any items sold so, they generally add the tax into the fix price of their items. It’s a pain in the butt for Amazon sellers. I say eBay wins this one, as well. What about return policy? If you don’t know what return policy is, basically it allow you to return the item and get a refund within a specific period of time. Amazon has the A-to-Z Guarantee which allows buyers to receive a full refund if an item is materially different from that described, for up to 90 days. In a dispute, Amazon typically sides with the buyer. On the other hand eBay seller is free to negotiate with buyers through eBay's PayPal dispute resolution and the seller is not required to offer a refund. While the dispute resolution process can be effective, it can also become messy and time-consuming and can result in negative feedback. I usually don’t have any problems, most of time I can negotiate with the sellers and get a full refund if there’s a problem with my order. I called Amazon win. Photos, its where people post a picture of the product they’re selling. EBay sellers have always struggled with photos. Trying to take good photos, figuring out how to get the photos to show up on eBay, and how many photos they need. Every item, doesn’t matter if it’s exactly the same as another, is will get its own photo on eBay. On the other hand Amazon is different. You only get one photo, and one description page, and all sellers use the same page. Usually the first photo posted on a product, everyone will use the same photo. Some sellers don’t like the idea of other sellers using their photos. It’s better to have more photos for your product, so the customers can have a better view and idea of the product. I called eBay win. Feedback, basically it’s when buyers and sellers leaves a impression of a transaction. Both sites allow buyers to leave positive and negative comments for sellers. The more positive feedback you have the more people will buy from you and trust you. Amazon buyers can see the seller’s feedback score, and usually tends to overlook it more readily than eBay buyers. Amazon’s A-z Guarantee makes the buyer feel more protected when purchasing an item.
Can You Find Out More About This Doll? Hello! My Aunt and I found a beautiful porcelain doll at an antique mall. She is in a lacy wedding dress with a hat that has the lace veil attached. She has curly blond chest length hair with green eyes and red lipstick. On her dress is pink ribbon and roses. She says Ashley Belle 97-18003 on the back of her neck. We cannot find her and would like to know if anyone can help us find out more or find what she is called. Thank you for your help!

What do you think this means? Ok, I know this is kind of odd to ask, but I really want opinions to what you think this Compatibility horoscope thing means: D, forming a friendship with Sam can be absolute bliss. Thats it. Thank you. =D
What do u think of the joke i am writting???? Here’s something you don’t know about me yet. I was fifteen years old when I began writing my first jokes, fifteen. Think about that for a minute. That’s old in cat years if they only live for what…10-12 years? They have nine lives, supposedly…I don’t know how long they live, I don’t really care. They are still younger than me. I know a lot of you like to talk to your pets as well. Some of you go a little farther and kiss them. And it’s not just on the head, it’s on the mouth. Don’t try and deny it, I see you. You’re not getting away with anything. I know your desperate, but kissing a pet on the mouth? That’s just…EW, no don’t do that. Did you ever wonder what your pets think about you? I must be like an antique to my cat. I’m sure when I walk by her… I know all of you do this, but when I walk by my cat, she’s not just meowing, right? I believe she’s talking to me in some other type of language that I will never learn. It’s probably a mixture of Italian and gibberish. You know, like baby talk; “Goo-goo gaga… (Giggles)” So she’s not only meowing, ok guys? She’s asking me a very rude question. I know this because I went to a psychiatrist, and asked her what my cat was saying. She told me, that my cat was wondering if I came with or without dust. Yeah, I know, right? I adopted her from a shelter, and this is how she thanks me. I’m like; “Thanks, Speck. I really wanted to be reminded of how old I’m getting.” As a child, I wanted to grow up so fast. I wanted to drive, get a cell… I still don’t have a cell phone, but I wanted to do everything that grownups did. I think a lot of us did as kids. I know you remember sitting in your yard, wishing that time would go by faster. I wanted to be an adult so bad. Then something happened to me. Something happened to you. You know what happened? We got older. And you got to do other things like adults did. But they were never as fun or as cool as you expected. Remember that?
License Plates for Cars of old age? In Florida what are the years for the certain license plates. I know there is Classic, Antique and Historical. How old does your car have to be to get those plates?
Does anyone have any idea what this means? I have an antique compass that reads POST'S GERMANY. We have no idea of the date or what post's germany means. Does anyone know? My dad and I have come across many antiques so I'll probably have many more questions in the future. thanks for your time.
Need help finding news story about stolen antiques & Italian Consul? A friend wants me to look up a news story where over a year ago, in the Chicago area, a guy died and his son or children found his home was filled with stolen antiques. The children or son didn't know how his father got hold of such antiquities, but it was big enough to involve some Italian Council or Consul or Consulate or something like that. This council played the role of antique verifiers, and my friend wants to look them up to help appraise some Italian antiques in her possession inherited from her grandfather. The problem is the info she gave me is so vague, my head is about to explode for failing to look for it online. If anyone in the Chicago area, or in Illinois for that matter, knows what I'm talking about, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help. Lucy, not helping here. Seriously, its about Italian antiques, not Arab patterned antiques. Good try though.
What's your favorite redneck bartering item? Now I don't claim to be a redneck but my family is and I'll admit that for all of my sophistication I fall back on the old redneck bartering/selling system that never fails to catch a few dollars or get you a useful item when you've the need for it. Combined with Craigslist and Ebay this old system can even make you a mint if you know what you are doing. My Dad specializes in pipe and old lawnmowers, my Mom in carved walking sticks, my Grandpa in scrap metal and old cars, my Grandma antiques, and I'm partial to 55 gallon drums (wood, plastic, and metal). So what's your favorite item to collect, sell, or trade? :D Redneck is only a deragatory term if you don't understand the way of life. I'm highly educated, for example, but enjoy the simple life. There is something pure about your first rodeo, pull of moonshine, deer camp, and in this case learning how to barter and trade. When you are a redneck no one is a stranger but a neighbor.
How can I give a newspaper an aged, antique kind of appearance? Does anyone know how to do this? What is the method for taking a normal newspaper and giving it an aged, (kind of brownish) antique look? How can you "age" a newspaper to be slightly brownish without damaging the paper itself - just give it a slight discoloration. This sort of thing is done in movies often & I'd like to know how I could do it myself. Thanks for your help.
Romantic first-anniversary destinations in the midwest, share your expertise with a young couple!? Dear all, My husband and I will be celebrating our first anniversary this September. We'll be in Indiana at the time, and really don't know the Midwest at all. So we're asking for your help and expertise! What is a great place to spend two nights, no more than 4 or 5 hours from SW Indiana? Some extra info: - We're looking to spend between $150-300 or so per night - We love history, museums, antiques and art - We're not outdoorsy (no hiking/camping), though we would enjoy a quiet place in the countryside with exciting things in the area (museums, historic estates, etc) - We're not really looking for a big city trip, unless you have a really great specific location for a city within our reach (like Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Chicago, Louisville, etc) - We'd like to stay at a unique hotel or Bed and Breakfast. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and expert advice. Let us know why you love the place you recommend!

I'm trying to think of a good story idea? My idea is that at the beginning of time when the earth was created a different race controlled this planet. Us, the humans came form a distant planet in search of a new planet to inhabit. When the original humans came to the earth they fought a war between the original race and own. The humans banished the race from the planet except for one who fount with them to banish the rest of the race. He foretold that the original race would come back to re-obtain this planet and of a boy of 17 named Alex who would have the power to destroy the human race or save them for the race and his parents some how knew about this and left him riddles to find the one of the original race to help him. Here is a Sample from that story: I woke up in a unbelievably uncomfortable bed with no idea were I was or where my parents were. I slowly started to make my way out of bed when a throbbing pain at the back of my head forced me to sit back down. “Be carful, your not back to your full strength yet,” said a older man standing behind me. He was in fairly good shape for a man of his age. He was dark skinned, bald and had a beard down to the middle of his chest. His eyes were dark blue bordering on black and had a gaze that would make you stop whatever you were doing and listen to him. “Who are you I ask?” I ask the bald man. He hesitates for quite some time, in which he would do nothing but stare at me wondering where I had come from. “How about you answer my questions first okay,” He said and without even waiting for an answer he said “what’s your name, boy.” “Alex, Alex Minei. Now tell me where am I.” “The Young Angels Orphanage.” “I’m sorry, I might not have heard you correctly did you say orphanage?” “Are you deaf boy?” “No!” “Then you know exactly what I said.” I looked at the man with disgust. Is this how he treats everybody? Even though this is the first time I have ever seen this man, the more he talked the more I disliked him. He strode around the room confidently, eyeing me once in a while. He came to a big sofa at the side of the room and laid down on in. The man turned his head around to stare at me as if there was a question I was supposed ask, but didn’t. We stayed like this for a few moments before I asked “Can you take me home to my parents?” “Boy...” “Alex,” I interrupted “Alright then Alex. You don’t have a home that’s why your here.” “Ok, then bring me to where ever my parents are staying. I can’t wait to see them.” “Alex, what don’t you understand about the word orphan? Your parents are gone! We found you in what was left of your house lying in a pool of blood with your head bashed open and burn marks all over your skin. When we took you to a hospital they said that you were in a coma. You staying in the hospital for three months before you woke up. While you were still in coma. Your parents had disappeared without a trace. The police were looking for them for the majority of the three months. Finally they gave up and they pronounced them dead. They read their will to the rest of their surviving family. Some of them received some antique jewels, but the majority left without anything. Your parents left you two things, all their funds and a letter,” the old man pulled out a sheet of paper folded in thirds with my name printed on the back. I was too shocked to even look shocked, much less reach out to take a letter that was the only thing left on this planet that reminded me for my parents. “W-w-what happened to the house?” I stuttered. “It was burned down by whoever attacked you and your parents. Now, can you please take this letter out of my hand. I can’t hold it forever you know!” The man exclaimed. I reached out and ripped the letter from his hand. Popped the seal open and started to read. “A.M Look at the V-Man by L.D.V, the symbol of humanity. 4FT, 4HA, 1HD. Follow the ONE. Let north, south, east and west be your guide, to the city of KN. P.S. Locate epic of G. the original in closet one.” Plus Did you like the riddle in the end. It is supposed to make you want to know what his parents meant when they left him this note
How do I use VIN's to find information on antique cars? I know you can use carfax and such to find information about your car but how do I do this for cars made before 1981? I have a 1947 Ford and want to use the serial to find out what the original color was, where it was sold and made and the likes. Any help would be greately appriciated.

Does any gun owner know what "life after Hillary" will be like? Imagine 20013. Unfortunately, you have had a close family member pass away. The doctor prescribed a calming medication for depression and a sleep aid. The Firearms Registration Act of 2012 is certainly the last thing on your mind. You swipe your National ID card. You have a legal right to be here in America and the Rx is confirmed to be for you. After a stop at the Insurance office, you pick up your rental car, not liking the thought of returning to your empty home. But wait. There is a white official vehicle parked in your driveway. At the curb is a white van. As you get out of the car two men approach and introduce themselves. One carries an electronic clip board and asks to see your ID.He swipes your card and a sheet of paper curls out of the device. The warrant explains that you cannot own guns and be on the medication you have in your hand. They take your late grandfather's shot gun, your matched set of antique pistols and the 22 rifle your Dad gave you for your 18th birthday.
What does 'antique' mean to you? I know what dictionaries and wikipedia say but I'm interested in other people's views on what defines an antique. I often consider the contents of antique stores to be more 'junk' or 'giftware' than antiques. We probably all agree that a 300yr old writing desk is antique but what about a 40yr old childrens toy? How old does it need to be in your eyes and how important is the craftsmanship, rarity, etc.?
How can I find out the value of my Blue Boy painting? I need your help plz. I have a 12x24 (Ithink). It is 38 years old and in a beautiful antique frame. I know nothing about art, and an old friend of my mothers wants to buy it from me, I have no idea what to ask for it. It is an oil painting, but not from the original artist. Thanks!
How do I wire an old light fitting into the mains? I have bought an antique light fitting which comes with a brass ceiling rose through which you feed the cable. I bought a new fitting - the cable and the bit you put the bulb in but don't know how to wire it because the cable doesn't have an earth and the old brass rose has nowhere to earth anyway. Can someone who knows about these things please tell me what I should do? I'll be very grateful for your help!
antiques????? my sister and i are interested in collecting and selling antiques... is there anything we should know? what sorts of things would sell well at auctions ie what is collectible? to begin with we are probably not looking at spending over $100 AU on items until we learn more about it. any ideas/suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated! thanks
Auction or estate sale? What's the best way to sell off furniture and antiques? We're downsizing and need to get rid of some furniture and assorted antiques. Has anyone out there had experience dealing with auction houses or estate sale dealers? Should we send the stuff to an auction house(some of the pieces are large)? Have an on-site auction? Have an estate-type sale? We're trying to decide which way to go. Thanks for your help!
What is the best way to teach yourself about antiques? I love the antiques roadshow and things of that nature. I would like to learn more about antiques (NOT TO BE a PRO)! I would just like to learn more from books or websites or whatever. I can't go to classes because I'm kinda housebound but would still like to learn more. Thanks! Yes I know I said I wanted to learn from books but I was hoping you could recommend some specfic ones! :)
I have mold growing on pieces of furniture in my house, antiques and others. How do I get rid of the mold? I really don't want to get rid of the antiques, and some I won't. But how do I get rid of the mold growing. It is even growing on the window sills. The only thought that I have (besides water and bleach-and I am AFRAID to try it on the wood) is to get central air. Does insurance cover this, and is there any hope out there. All we have are antiques passed down from the 1800's, I could care less about the rest. What do I do? I really don't want to get rid of the antiques, and some I won't. But how do I get rid of the mold growing. It is even growing on the window sills. All we have are antiques passed down from the 1800's, I could care less about the rest. What do I do? We currently have a dehumidifier running (non-stop) in the basement and are going to get another one this weekend. With the weather how it has been, hot and rainy and extremely humid, that's the cause. I have every window open in the house-so the air is circulating. Today I cleaned most of it with bleach and water. I just hope that it stays away. Would central air work for future summers?
How To Buy and Sell Antiques For Profit - Any Full Resource Guide? I'm researching information on buying and selling antiques for profit (how it's done, what qualifies as antique, the legal aspects, etc.) and am looking for an all-in-one guide or website that covers it in greater detail. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thanks.
How do I start an antiques business? I'm interested in acquiring antiques. Now I think that I want to start a business of buying and selling antiques. Anyone know what are the steps I should follow?
What are the chances of removing the smell of smoke from antiques, leather furniture, etc? We recently lost our home to fire, but it was contained to 3 rooms and we were able to remove many things. The smell of smoke is terrible on most of it. I have an antique sewing machine, among other antiques that have tremendous sentimental value but am clueless as how to remove the smell without causing more damage. I also have leather furniture and many wood pieces. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Thanks and a very Happy Easter to All... : ) Angie
How to discourage cat from peeing on wood antiques? My cat has a history of peeing on my wood antiques (dresser, trunk, etc.), but when I moved, (per vet recommendation) I keep her in a closed room with no antiques & lots of litter boxes. She has been great for 6 months, but now I have an antique piano I need to move into that room & I'm terrified she will destroy it--any preventive measures I can take? (I tried lemons, cleaners, vinegar, baking soda & refinishing on the old dresser & didn't deter her at all...)
How do I sell antiques collection? I inherited a large theatrical collection dating from 1850 which the V&A museum says is of inestimable value. I found museums in the UK & USA who are interested but I don't know how to market the collection or how to converse with these types of people.Auction dealers get toffee-nosed & only want to auction the Will-Look-Good-In-Our-Auction-Brochure Oil Painting, ignoring the collection as a whole. I have already been advised not to separate the collection. There are some items there which are famous. All I have to work with in my search is the internet - but the antiques & collectibles sites only deal with Beanies or thimbles or comic books, and so on. I have not found a really serious site where really serious people look for the stuff of museum collections. Before anyone gives the answer - the library is of no help whatsoever. Has anyone got a clue?
What are the major countries that valuable antiques come from? Well, I am into finding antiques and selling them on eBay. I recentaly went to Goodwill to look for some, and saw 6 bowls and 3 Saucers. They all had a Floral design and looked antique. On the back it says Made in Poland." I am trying to figure out with countires I should be looking for.
What are the laws regarding carrying an antique firearm on your person? I live in Texas, which is regarded as one of the more lenient states in respect to acquisition of firearms. I've been told by dubious sources that carrying a firearm classified as a curio or relic on your person is legal even without a concealed-carry license. Could someone clear this up for me?
what is the possibility of antiques having spirits attached to them? I have antiques like candelabras and mirrors, and plan on collecting more but what does it take for spirits to be attached to the objects? erm please don't give me any ignorant comments. demons exist like it or not fufufu. THANX yes I will try the ghostbusters, they actually got rid of the ghosts.

How do you send pictures or e-mails to the Antiques Roadshow? If you have any information as to how this can be done please let me know! Thank you
How to become an antiques appraiser? Like on the Antiques Roadshow. Where do I go from High School? What kind of school, and where are the school(s) located? Anyone know how much they make?
Do you know of a good antiques auction or consignment store? I have inherited more antique furniture than I can use. I want to put some into a high quality consignment store or antiques auction that will allow a reserve. Haven't found much on the internet. Looking for references in Dallas area. Yes, I have tried Craig's List and eBAY.
What should i get my grandmother for christmas? I know its a couple months away, but i don't know what to get my grandmother for christmas. She collects wind chimes, but she has so many (and she got like three last year) that don't want to get her another one. She also really likes antiques. Her den is full of antique furniture that no one's allowed to sit on and a whole bunch of other antique things like lamps mirrors and tables. I'm kind of on a budget too. Any ideas?
Looking for an online antiques appraiser in Canada? My grandmother was an antiques dealer and we have a lot of little things she left us- Dresden figurines, Hummel figures, painted miniatures, china pieces, silver, and so forth. I have pictures and descriptions of many items, and would like to have them appraised with view to selling or insuring them.
Is anyone else sick of programmes about antiques? The deluge of antiques programes on telly is starting to drive me up the wall. Has anyone else found that Antiques Roadshow, Flog It, Cash In The Attic et al bores them to tears? And do you think the credit crunch will crush the antiques market as no one wants to spend money on old junk, or will it send it rocketing as people try to flog even more rubbish / make fast money?
Are they just old or antiques? I will be decorating my "modern" house with a Victorian theme . My friends are helping by giving me old things that I adore. I was wondering where can I research how to find out if some of my things are just old or possibly antiques ? I have a lot of things being given to me that I know are old but I would like to find out if the have antique value to them. Ex: chandeliers, jewelery boxes, lamps ect. I don't want to lessen the value of anything if they are worth something. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Do you watch Antiques Roadshow in order to judge the background butts? If you don't understand the question, I'm referring to the people walking or standing in the background of the show - they are often on screen with their booty's sticking out. Am I the only one who notices loads of background butts during this show? Most of them are terrible to look at, you may lose your meal! Once in a awhile a super hot one appears!
Do you know what this antique is called? I received this from my grandmother, trying to figure out what its called. She said it was from China, something like an old noodle stand... anyone know a name or additional details? http://www.4ogdens.org/antique
Sons and daughters-I love my mom but don't know what to do anymore? Up until the last few years, I have somewhat enjoyed her company. Now I find her so boring and negative. She loves to talk about the antiques she picks up. She loves ebay and loves to talk about it. (Keep in mind she is still a few years away from 50 and hardly an old lady-not that you have to be an old lady to enjoy antiques). I just don't have any intrest in it. If she isn't talking about that she is complaining about what was on the news or what jerks men are. She complains about people in general, but the man-hater thing really gets to me. I know her dad was verbally abusive-but why would you try push that view on your daughter? Oh, and her cats. I love telling goofy stories of my cats but she just rambles and rambles-even when you are trying to get her off the phone. She will also gets on me about something I have very little control over and even did this on my birthday, claiming I was the main cause of her depression. Believe me, she waited until we were done for the day and her comment snowballed into a horrible evening for me with that on my mind. I just don't know what to do with her. I don't want to see her again most of the time. I get along way better with my grandma and have better conversations, she is 75. I have tried to get my mom on mild anti-depressants but she only took them for a month. She quit as soon as I saw improvement. I keep pushing through and keeping my contact with her on the minimal, usually when I am in a really good mood and can handle her. Recently, I have found myself drinking before I have to see her. She was a great single parent which I am sure is very hard! She did a good job and loves me. She isn't the kind of person you can sit down and talk to about her. She just blame shifts. Oh, and anytime I am talking about something she will just totally change the subject, which I don't do to her unless she is complaining about people. What do I do? How would you feel if you were a her offspring? How would you handle this? I am 28 years old and her only child. DJ-Yes, my grandmother. She would rather spend time with me then my mom. Nema-could you please explain to me the psychological method of "just getting over" something? It would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I know death and have had a lot in my family, so I understand that without you stating the obvious.
Does anyone know where I can get free information about Japanese antiques? I bought an incense burner at a garage sale and was told later by a friend that it is an antique. I looked on the bottom of it and it says it is hand painted and that it was made in Japan. I was also told that is part of a set. Any information would be appreciated, I would like to find the other pieces if there are any.
What category should I ask about antiques under? I have some antique jewelry and accessories I have questions about but I'm not sure there is a specific category I should list my questions under in Yahoo! Answers. I've browsed through Arts & Humanity as well as Society & Culture and their subcategories are kind of vague. Any suggestions?
What is the best place to sell antique furniture? My mom has an antique bedroom set we have been trying to get rid of on ebay with no luck. I'm wondering if there is anyplace where we might have better luck of getting rid of it at. It's in really good condition we just have no use for it.

Can I do decorative painting on previously finished/varnished antiques? I have an old dresser, probably from the 30's, that I want to do some decorative painting on. I'm planning to use regular acrylic paints. Do I need to sand the spots I'll be painting and prime them in any way, or can I just paint directly over the old stain and varnish? What kind of sealer should I use on the whole piece when I'm done? I'd like to avoid stripping the whole piece, I like the color and the way it looks, I just want to add to it.
How to furnish a modern house with antiques? I have inherited a house built in the 60's and quite a lot of victorian and edwardian furniture. At the moment the house looks like an auction warehouse, all styles and types of wood mixed in a very unsightly mess. What can I do to make the best of house and furniture?
