on Yahoo Real Estate - Can you buy Houses in Foreclosure at their listing price? I'm starting to learn about real estate in general. A house in my neighborhood on yahoo real esate is in foreclosure with $25,000 left to pay on the house. Can you make an offer to the bank to pay that $25,000 off and take ownership of the house? Or do you have to go to the auction and bid that? Please answer both questions. Thanks.
How do I cancel my real estate account without cancel my Yahoo account? I just read from "home buying for dummies" that the condition of using Yahoo real estate account is rediculous. From my understanding, you essentially just have to buy from Prudential. Obviously I did not read the term of service carefully when I signed up. But from what I read in that book, it's like Prudential buys Ad space from Yahoo, and people who use the site to look up in their Ad will have to buy from them. I am not sure their terms (wishlist) is legal. Anyway, please help cancel my account with Yahoo real estate. Dan Cai

Whats the deal with yahoo real estate? When I searched yahoo real estate for foreclosed homes, the asking price is very low, some as low as $2,500. How is it that Yahoo! Real Estate is allowed to publish false real estate facts? Yahoo has a featured story today linked to the url http://realestate.yahoo.com/Real_estate_news/story?s=rytimes/item-4bcc1fc619fd6bf106034420ddf198de.html How is it that Yahoo! is allowed to post such misleading information about the housing market and post no writer's name? The information posted in this editorial is posted as fact. Shouldn't that be illegal? How does Yahoo! get away with it? For instance, in this editorial, an anonymous Yahoo! Real Estate staff writer states that "There is no housing bubble." The facts are very clear that this is the biggest real estate bubble in history. This misinformation could lead more people into losing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why would Yahoo! do this to their users? Could this be why Yahoo! is falling so far behind Google? Clearly, before Yahoo! Real Estate presents what they believe to be fact before millions of users, shouldn't they cite things like the Shiller Graph which define, without a doubt, that there is a dangerous housing bubble in the US? http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/113/2109/1600/shillergraph.gif I would prefer answers from unbiased Realtors, thanks. Realtors are given clear talking points designed to defraud their clients out of thousands of dollars. See http://www.realtor.org/home_buyers_and_sellers/its_a_great_time_to_buy_a_home.html I state the facts. Please don't use Yahoo! Answers to spread lies and rob people of their life savings.

What happened to the advanced search in Yahoo Real Estate? I used to use it, and it has been a while since I have been able to find it. Did they get rid of it? Krista, How have they been added? Yahoo Real Estate coming up with "magic" sales price? I'm an agent in Texas. I showed a client a home that is being foreclosed on listed at $209,900. That same home came up on Yahoo Real Estate under "foreclosures". It said the home will sell for $189,910 (or something close to that). What crystal ball are they using? The actual loan was orginally around $147,000. Do they have access to something with the banks?

About escrow fraud, pretending to be from Yahoo Real Estate? I have seen a few older questions about emails supposedly from Yahoo, instructing buyers/tenants to MoneyGram a deposit to a Yahoo Agent to be held for the seller/landlord. I want to let people know that I've encountered this and though I didn't go through with it I'm almost positive it's a scam. The tip off is that the "Agent" is just an individual name, w/ no info except mailing address. You don't send money to Yahoo, or a bank, or a law office, or anything official or trackable. Another clue: go to the Yahoo Real Estate website (my email was supposedly from them) and you won't find anything about escrow service. Please see the Internet Crime Complaint Center www.ic3.gov/crimeschemes.aspx, as well as www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html My question is, why doesn't Yahoo post a warning about this scam since people have been asking about it? I asked them through their Contact Us form if the email was legit; they haven't answered. But they know it's a big problem they should address. I was not suggesting that Yahoo should monitor this User forum, but I'm sure that other people have contacted them directly, as I did, about the fact that someone is sending fraudulent emails in their name. Since they are aware that scammers are claiming to be with Yahoo Real Estate, it would be nice for them to have a warning in their own help section, along with their other tips and instructions. Yes, it's great that I could find the info I needed on craigslist and ICC so that I didn't lose money, but I had to google it myself instead of having Yahoo providing the warning. The point is that abuse _has_ been reported to them, but they are still not mentioning it. Regardless, my real purpose was to alert others that the emails "from" Yahoo are fraudulent, because I didn't see any firm conclusion in previous forums. I just threw in the question at the end in case I had to.
