shill bidding....? i recently had a run in with someone who was shill bidding (it was an actual store) and the person had the same feedback from the same 3 people over and over and over....and the person kept bidding on every item that was already bid on, (im talking like 12-15 items) and the person also started the bidding to.. So today i reprted the store to ebay... i sent a few article numbers foer examples, but i could not send them all. Wil ebay still be able to tell if there really was shill bidding??

On ebay,is one ex. of shill bidding where U paid much more than original bid as others outbid U in last minute? That is, you were outbid in just last thirty seconds of bidding, forcing you ( if you are intent on winning the item ) to double your original bid from minutes earlier. While I know this outcome might be expected, could this also be an example of shill bidding ? Can the seller also act as a shill to bring up the price ? I am new at these auctions.

Ebay suspended me! I was accused of shill bidding.? Has this happen to you? I had several items listed. One item....was broken and I could not end the auction. (It was ending soon) So I bid on it with another account. I won the auction so I still had to pay fees. No one was out of money but me because I was the high bidder. Then this lady emailed me and told me she wanted the item and she reported that I was shill bidding. I won the bid so what did I do wrong. Anyway I want to know has anyone else been suspended for this and if so for how long? And what should I do to speed up the process. I was laid off recently and this is my main income. "Trotting" your own items up on eBay (Shill bidding) it is a no-brainer? Agree/Disagree What you do is you outbid the REAL bid with just up to the next incrament, Then when there is 24 Hours left you just leave it. About 90-95% of the time someone else will key in a real bid over the fake bid. Anyone else do this? It is the ONLY way you can get money out of greedy buyers who want "Stuff" for nothing.

Shill Bidding Question regarding ebay items...? Lets say a seller is selling a 200 dollar sports book starting price 60 dollars. If I bid on one account lets say max bid 140 then went on another account and bid 150 do the price of the card would be higher hence less people would be interested in bidding. Would this be considered shill bidding. I always thought shill bidding was when you bid on your own stuff to raise the price. My instance would be using 2 accounts to bid on a random persons stuff with the main goal of making the price high enough to where people won't want to get in the bidding race since the bids are already near what the card is worth. I guess the logic behind it would be to steer away potential bidders on an item you want from a random seller but just bidding using 2 accounts so that starting price or current bid value is near retail value so people don't even want to bother bidding on it sicne theres no chance they can get a good deal better then the price its at already. It might now seem like a bad idea but if you know for a fact an item is going to get bid to a certain amount and you bid a slightly lesser amount then that theres a likelihood people will just bid on another item with a lower bid price at the current time. But no one really answered my question is it shill bidding yes or no?
Clarification on shill bidding? Today I just found out that what I attempted to do was illegal. Shill bidding. I am selling these headsets, and I think the price was too low so I made a new eBay account just to boost it up a little bit. But when I was about to place a bid, it notified me because the 2nd account had the same address and told me that it was called shill bidding which was illegal. From there, I was like oh no. I didn't even know what I was doing was illegal. So I didn't place a bid because what the notification told me. So does this mean I will be facing consequences or was that notification was like a warning? So attempting to place a bid, but notified but didn't place a bid, is that considered shill bidding or is it considered shill bidding when the bid is PLACED?

Banned from EBay-Shill Bidding? Several months ago I decided to try to actually try to put up something on ebay. 1st time. I auctioned somethings. Can you report shill bidding AFTER purchasing the item & what action does ebay take? I haven't thought about it before the item ended, but these shoes weren't doing so well, with the seller repeatedly recommending this item to bidders through emails and other descriptions. I didn't think it would end so high, but still am willing to pay this price. However, having clicked on the bidding sequence link, it shows that the bidding was almost all done by an ebay user with no feedback. This is a sign of shill bidding, how may I report this to ebay? What will ebay do if the shill bidding investigation proves that shill bidding did in fact occur? However, (and this is the tricky part) there is no law that requires eBay to catch everyone. Shill bidding on ebay??? Ok, so I was bidding on an item that sells for $1500 brand new. There were two more bidders on there. Their bids were $750 and $770 (first 2 bids). Then they started bidding more and it reached $1000. Then a bidder with zero feedback bid $1150 and it was too much for me -- there was like 1 minute left. I checked bidding history and it was the only bid that guy ever had; he had no bids for next 2 weeks and it remains his only bid. Is this shill bidding or did I just get beat? I just find it weird that someone bet $150 more.

I read an article that said ebay doesn't make any real effort to stop shill bidding because ebay makes more money from higher final value fees. I turned someone in to ebay that I strongly suspected of shill bidding to test this theory. The seller in question sells one of a kind art. I became suspicious when I began noticing this seller(A) would re-list the same (one of a kind) art pieces more than once. I kept track of seller's(A) bid history and saw one bidder(O) who was bidding on more than 95% of all this seller's auctions. Mostly 'nibble' bidding. This same bidder(O) won a few of seller(A) auctions but never with a last minute or even a last day bid. Most of the one of a kind items that were won by this bidder(O) were re-listed by seller(A), usually a few months later. Most suspicious when bidder(O) bid on the same art-pieces he had already won the first time the artwork was listed by this same seller(A)! I've witnessed this happen about a half-dozen times now (same seller, same bidder). Ebay has done nothing and both seller(A) and bidder(O) are still registered users. What do you think?

Is this a legitimate example of shill bidding on eBay? Example 1: I was bidding on an item (used vinyl) that started at $19. About 95% of the sellers items/sales are cds and used vinyls are by far the minority in their sale history. The seller would NOT have multiple copies of this item available. I lost at a max bid of $32 (item sold for $33) and instantly I received a 2nd Chance Offer in my mailbox for $32. I did not purchase the item on the 2nd Chance Offer, as I had reassessed the price of the vinyl and decided to try and re-bid on it for a lower price. The used vinyl was re-listed and I lost the auction again, for $21 (max bid deliberately set to $20). Instantly I received a 2nd Chance Offer for $20. To me, this seems like a pretty clear case of shill bidding. The item is not a duplicate, it is used (and uniquely visibly worn) and it is a type of item that the seller does not sell frequently (vinyl). Example 2: I was bidding on an item (pet cage) that started at 0.99c. The seller also has the item available as a Buy-It-Now price of $140 and in their description lists a $549RRP. Bidding on the auction item, I lost at a max bid of $115 (item sold for $116) and instantly I received a 2nd Chance Offer in my mailbox. The item is something the seller would have many available of and is a PowerSeller. Is it most probable that the Seller has a shill bidder on their 0.99c starting auctions and will then offer the item to the 2nd highest bidder for their max bid? Is there any point of either contacting eBay and reporting, or contacting the seller to perhaps 'advisably bargain' for a cheaper price on the item that has been re-offered to you as a 2nd Chance?
Do you think there’s “SHILL BIDDING” on Ebay? Many times I bid on an item for days and the same person will come back and increase the price only to disappear at expiration time and never buy…It’s frustrating since it's happened many times. This person has listed over 30 items and most of the bids are made by new users who don't have feedback in the past. What are the tell tale signs that someone is "shill bidding"? NOTHING ticks me off more than a dishonest seller on ebay! i know i've been the victim of it several dozen times. i hear ebay has a pretty sophisticated way of catching shill bidders. has anyone else been a victim? and if you do shill bid, why are you so greedy and dishonest? why not just start with the minimum you'll take and let it play out? is this shill bidding? I've recently started bidding on 18 items that are in a collection that are on ebay, everything was fine, maybe 2 or 3 people trying to outbid me on a couple items, but other than that, most of the items were at 0.99 with me being the only bidder. and then I checked out the listings today to see how everything was doing and then BAM, I was outbid out of all 18 items! most of the 0.99 cent items went up to 10.00 and some even went up to 20.00. what was weird was that all the items i was outbid on were bid on by the one and only same bidder for everything. I looked at their bidding history, and they haven't bid on anything else except for the items i've been bidding on. I looked at the sellers feedback page, and they don't have any bad feedback, but they've only sold two things recently and before that they haven't sold anything since september of last year. I'm not trying to be paranoid but what should I do, is there any other sure way to find out? should I report to ebay anyway? help!?
How to spot shill bidding? I just started using Ebay. So i am bidding on this laptop. Another person starts bidding on it also, Which is fine. So i just checked what he had bid on for the past 30 days. Only that item. He has 100% good feedback with this seller, But then a couple other people started bidding with the exact same type of profile. 100% positive feed back, Only item they have bid on for the past 30 days??. . Ebay collectable shill bidding problem Six Million Dollar Man? I bid a maximum of 50 pounds to win this 70s toy and his accessories. All were advertised as being sold for someone else (alarm bells I know) and in great condition. I had to bid against a zero feedback bidder (the actual seller I expect) in the last few minutes and was not hapopy to do so. But I did pay up because I ended up bidding against a real buyer as well. The item has arrived and although I still want it the condition is very poor and does not match the description. What advice do you give me? Hi, I have done just that. eBay Shill Bidding Question...? Please excuse this long explanation. I am an eBay seller who bought something in early July from a man across the country. I've twice bought from him over a period of four years. EBay has now decided I am a shill bidder for him. They deleted all my listings! Since I'm a Power Seller, I called the power seller suppoort phone number thinking it could be easily solved. WROMG! They can't help, "because it's a trust and safety issue." No phone calls to the T&S department--just email. A reply takes 36-72 hours! I can't believe they cancelled my listings without asking me first for an explanation. The listings they deleted didn't even show in my unsold item folder, so all the work has to be repeated. According to their suspension notice, I am permitted to do fixed price listings but not auction style listings for a period of two weeks. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do? I bought an item but there was some shill bidding going on, final end price was 30 bucks..??? The final price was 30 bucks..I think the seeler did it for like 5 auctions or something it looked like...ebay suspended him for two weeks...is this the usual that ebay does? How often does this occur???
EBAY does this look like shill bidding to you? the item was a baby's exersaucer that i'm the high bidder on. starting bid was $25. i bid $25.50 but later raised my max bid to $31.50. later the same person bid $26, $28, $30. Is it pointless "shill bidding" on that well known on-line auction (It starts with the letter e)? Surely and item is only going to sell for what it is worth... OR If it is a strange,rare or unusual item and someone wants it you can make them pay for it. What is your "Take" on this... Thank you for your answers Have a great day Yes of course you can end up buying your own "Stuff" But they only charge 10% commision on the sale price, If you start the bidding at 99p So it is surely a worth while gamble. There are rules against it... But they are not exactly "Strict" .. as long as you payyour selling fees they "Turn a blind eye" They would be crazy to ban you and lose a customer... They DONT care. pay your selling fees even lol
i've been suspended from ebay for a minumim of 7 days for 'shill' bidding, i need help to reinstate my account my teenage kids set up phoney accounts in my name and bid on my items to push the bids up to help me out as i'm a single parent and short of cash! i didnt know about this until i confronted them about it yesterday! I've explained this to ebay but they still wont reinstate my account! I've thought about setting up another account using a different bank account/credit card but will they suspend that account cos it'll be in the same name? HELP - i've got bomb loads of stuff i need to sell, its taking over my house!!!
Will ebay bother investigating all shill bidding using the same IP? I was selling an item on ebay, and my sister decided she wanted to buy it but she wouldn't pay the amount I wanted, so I just said win the auction then, cause it was way lower than the price I wanted. Anyway she won the item for like $3 but I never even thought about how illegal this was. I'm worried my accounts are going to be closed. But then I thought would they even bother for a $3 item when she won it anyway and no one got ripped off, btw the item was actually worth $50 so I was hardly trying to drive the price up. But we used the same Wireless connection different comps though but they still would share the same IP. Is this still a serious offence to ebay? or does someone actually have to complain?
Shills bidding stuff up on EBay? I was bidding on an autographed photo of a TV show star and experienced "shill" bidding where a "zero" feedback person was trying to boost up the bidding to probably a price that the seller can live with. It was basically me against the "shill", but when I checked the bidding history, I saw that I would have gotten suckered into winning an overpriced item. Has this happened to anyone out there?

I got an extra £82 bidding on my own stuff (using a difference computer) and I only messed up once and bought 1 item myself The selling fee for the one item I bought back myself was 95 PENCE!!!! Ebay Bidding Question? Has anyone noticed the shill bidding that is happening on ebay? It will state there is one highest bidder i.e. s***e, or t***b, and so on. I noticed one big seller doing it and now I see tons of them doing it!! What happened?? Is there anything that can be done??
I was caught chill bidding on ebay....? I was caught shill bidding on ebay, and i got an email with a warning in it. in the email, it says, "However, you'll be limited to a Fixed Price format for 14 days." I thought that meant that i couldn't buy or sell anything unless it was a a "Buy It Now" price. but, i just tried bidding on an auction and it allowed me to bid fine. So, I don't understand. Why can i still bid on an item?

For all you Ebay sellers.Can I have two Ebay accounts with the same corresponding Paypal account? Reason why is because my wife is going abroad but we have always shared the same Ebay account with the same corresponding Paypal Account. However, for tax reason, she no longer lives in USA and wants a different account corresponding to a different address. Is it possible to register another Ebay account but add a corresponding existing Paypal account. I think I have tried this and Ebay warned me of "Shill Bidding" LOL.

Ebay Shill Bidders, thoughts!??!? This is just a question to ask if anyone has had experience of this? Its just i have bought several items in the past that i think i may been shill bid up by the seller. I use auction stealer, so i set my maximum bid and wait and see if that is enough. It seems i win a alot of auctions but by my maximum bid I dont think its coincidence any more because i always set random amounts like £26.66 rather than a £25 and its on random items. Is there some sort of way sellers know what my maximum bid is? Has anyone heard of people cheating in this way? Thanks
Need opinions on how to handle this Ebay problem? I sell on Ebay. Most of my auctions are store items or fixed price items. I once in awhile I offer items in the auction format. I do have a bidder that will bid on things (on my reserve price auctions), but will never buy anything. He does this on other people's auctions also. And I have had some of the other bidders get mad about it and accuse him of shill bidding and ask that I block him from my other auctions. I do not know this person and if they want to bid, fine by me. But I also feel that I could be driving away other bidders because of him. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

The only thing stopping me from doing it is the fact that NO ONE bid after his new girlfriend upped the bid and WON his auction for a used transmission. LOL!!!! OOPS. why would you pay more than what a gift card is worth on ebay? ran across a listing where the bid was more than the gift card was worth. i thought i knew a little something about bidding but am i missing something here. or do you think its shill bidding? doesnt make sense to me. thanks!!
Ebay bidder user id's with *** (three asterisks). Anyone know what this is all about ? Have noticed recently when bidding on certain items that many of the bids being made start with a letter or number, then they have three asterisks and another letter or number, just an example "e***k". When you try to look at their history the only details shown are the id, feedback rating, and number of bids made. Is this possibly `Shill bidding' in diguise?
Are there simlar online auctioning sites to Ebay , becase my experiance with ebay has been a nightmare !? I was accused of having mutiple accounts by ebay customer services when a disgruntled seller complained and made up lies to them when i left negative feed back , which was not true and also shill bidding , which is a blatant lie ebay are monsters to there customers I want to shop some where simlar with , the same sought of theme but it needs to be a better managment and experiance to boot , any ideas people , any good new bidding sites springing up ? ebay always seems to take the scammers side to that I have noticed ? dunno why this is?
Suspended or blocked EBAY account? I have wrote to Ebay on many occasions, I owed them £2.07 pence for my seller fees which I paid yesterday and I am still suspended. I also informed them and asked them to unblock and investigate further into my account. They accused me of "shill bidding", which I never did. I can't understand how I am responsible for someone bidding on my items that I don't know! Is ebay a rip off??
what is the worst thing EBay has ever done to you? Ebay said I was guilty of somthing call Shill Bidding and took away my account for 60 days. I didn't even know what it was until 45 days into my suppension. So tell me your Ebay horror story. Shill bidding is when you bid on an item that is listed by somone that has the same address as you do. I was not aware that the item for sale was an item that my wife put on, and therefore we both got the boot for 60 days,, but were not told what we had done wrong until after 45days. Meanwhile, all the listings we had were deleted and we were still charged for them.
Has anyone violated a ebay policy? A while back- I was accused of shill bidding and I did my 14 days. Would I be ok from now on if I just to continue to abide by ebays rules? I just always seem to watch my back and am constantly a bit paranoid. Has anyone violated a policy and just moved on without hassles again?
