Why does every ebay listing for brand name clothing and shoes, have bidders with similar ID's like (e**e)? I'm new to ebay as a seller and I'm very interested in selling clothing and shoes (Brand Name). Now My first item that I bought wholesale and place up for auction was a pair of gucci shoes made from italy. The auction ended at $100.01,which was great! However ebay took down my listing and informed me that my item was trademark violation and unauthorized item, and they also informed the buyer, who still wants to buy the shoes!!! Now I see tones of sellers on ebay selling the very same shoes that I have, but when I look at many listings to see who's bidding for these items, every last User name was something like ( V***1 or G**j, or e***e). Is there something I'm doing wrong?why do there listings have buyers's with these weird codes?shouldn't there listings be cancelled as well? or I'm not part of a secret? Some one please help me,Thanks!!
Any websites similar to ebay and etsy, where different venders sell clothes & shoes? something more similar to etsy but not necessarily things designed/manufactured by the sellers. but maybe not an auction site? ebay used to be a popular place for people to sell clothes and shoes, but it seems like no one goes to ebay anymore. so is there a site where the sellers use to sell wholesale items at retail price? and not amazon. thanks!
Emo shoes????????????? I'm looking to buy emo looking shoes. So i'm guessing it will have to be converse or chucks, or a style like that. Do you think high tops or low tops? And colourful or bland. Because if it's colourful i can wear them with like black clothing, to complete the "emo" look. Any ideas? I reckon these are great! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Clothing/Boys/Shoes/Size-8/auction-404399260.htm Any other links to where i can buy them, or any similar? Thanks!(:
I want to start an online store? Do you think I would have more sucess with my own website or an auction site like e-bay? I'm going to start with women's and junior's clothing, shoes, and accessories. If this goes well I may want to venture into children's clothing and home decor-should I just start a new site for these items or make my store one that sells all of these items? What are some good memorable names? Please base this on your opinion of my second question. Please answer any or all of these questions. Thank you so much.
10 points if you can find this jacket? I'm doing a Scott Pilgrim costume, and I need his jacket! It is a navy blue jacket with a hood, and faux fur trim, although I'm not willing to spend MUCH more than 30 bucks. This one is just about perfect, but I can't find it any where. http://auctions.overstock.com/Hooded-Reversible-Flight-Jacket-Navy-XL-I14209/Clothing-Shoes-Accessories/item/46104531 Please help find this same jacket, or a similar one! Thank you! It needs to be size medium!

Would it be better to sell clothing items to Plato's Closet or auction or sell off on Ebay? I have some very nice clothing items and shoes that i would like to sell, brand named items like "abercrombie and fitch" and "hollister", Vera Bradley, items to which a typical teenage girl would swoon over which i no longer fancy nor fit in because i got them quite a while ago. I have sold items a Plato's closet before, but they never seem to take them, or when they do, they end up giving me around $10 for a whole bag of perfectly good expensive items. Perfect items in perfect condition, yet they take ratty clothing with holes in them and they stay in the store for eternity. I have thought about Ebay.com, seeing that they are in practically new condition and thought that i would get more money that way. What do you think? Thank you for your answers.

Wondering if anyone is looking for baby clothes for sale? If there is anyone looking for preemie, newborn, 0-3, or 3-6 month clothing or blankets, and sleep positioners, I sell on eBay for dirt cheap. I have auctions ending today that start at $1. I also relist anything that didn't sell atleast every other day. I have gently used clothing from my twin boys that I sell. I will also sell in bulk for discounted price if anyone wants to buy bulk of what I have in a size. I also throw in free unused diapers, washcloths, and bibs if I have any available. All my items are stored in a smoke free, pet free, clean house and I wash all items before shipping. I also have other items not posted for sale, just contact me for additional information. I am online almost all day long, this is my job to bring in extra money while taking care of my 3 month old twins and my husband works for GM and we all know what's going on with that company. I also sell women's and men's clothing and shoes, email me for more details. So, if you know anyone looking for gently used, in excellent condition baby boy clothes and some unisex items, accessories, etc. send them to myworld.ebay.com/mzhuddleston or email me at mz_huddleston@yahoo.com. craigslist only lets you post in your region, otherwise you're violating rules. i thought YA would be better until i find something else.

what is the most profitable everyday item to sell on ebay? I need $cash$ ebay has a deal going now until 9/7 that all auction style listings are free to insert, you still have to pay the final value fee if it sells. It's been going on a while and I have tried seller a bunch of random things, clothing, shoes, books. I know I am not going to get anywhere near what I paid back for them plus after ebay and paypal rape you on fees there is just no chance. I always end up selling a designer pair of shoes I paid $90 for $12 on ebay then ebay take like $1.20 and paypal take like $1 so in the end I get $9.80. Just an example. I don't have anything great no antiques, art, coins and the like so what are people most successful selling on ebay when it comes to everyday items. I know I am going to take a loss but I'd rather be able to actually sell several items so the end result was worth the trouble.
Is there a website available for people to join for the purpose of selling slightly used clothes? Is there a website available for people to join for the purpose of selling slightly used clothes, shoes, household item, etc., besides eBay? I don't have an eBay account but I know they take a percentage of what you sell. Does eBay also force you to auction off your items after a certain time frame or can you keep it available until someone pays the asking price? I'm a college student trying to make some extra tuition money and I don't want to have to use eBay unless I have to. Thanks for your help.
Does this doll look haunted to you? http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=1180247&image=386171623&images=386171623,386171656,386171676,386171700,386171727,386171768,386171816,386171835&formats=0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0&format=0 I bought it from ebay and it was labeled as a haunted doll. This is the listing: Welcome to my auction listing for the adoption of five year old Mary. This doll was owned and cherished by a little five year old girl named Mary in the 1960s. She reminds me of little Lorelei that was adopted out several months ago to a wonderful loving family. Mary loved this doll very much. She took her everywhere she went and was her best pal. Mary passed from bacterial meningitis. A older step brother of Mary's kept the spirit doll Mary for years. He attended our psychic metaphysical workshop a few months ago and told us all about his step sister Mary and her doll that she attached to after passing. He mentioned that she would send colorful butterflies as a sign to let hm know she was near. He gave us Mary doll to find a good home for her. We all agree that souls can haunt and attach to inanimate objects such as dolls to communicate their spiritual messages and needs through the veil. Mary is lively and active. She can be obstinate in trying to get attention. She has a habit of tapping on windows and walls if you're too busy to spend time with her. She enjoys being read to and she comments in real short phrases during EVP(electronic voice phenomenon) recording sessions or through telepathy about the story. She loves Dr. Seuss books. "Yurtle The Turtle" is one of her favorites. When you talk to Mary her eyes has this amazing spirit energy that emanates right through! She can drain batteries quickly and has a way of stopping and restarting clocks and watches. You may need to keep extra batteries on hand. It's not unusual for her to turn a light switch off and on. We have been been in a lighted room and all of a sudden the room is dark. She gets a kick out of that. She can be affectionate too. We have had spirit hugs from her. It feels like a "web" engulfing around your body. When she draws near, you may get static in your hair from her energy. The EMF(electro-magnetic force) sensor readings can be moderately high when she manifests and travels in a room as a pinkish speeding orb in flight. Mary would be happiest with a family that can give her a lot of attention and give her the best seat in the house. Mary can be ornery and will tease you if she doesn't get her way. Mary does enjoy interacting with other spirit children and pets. Mary has these unusual spirit eyes. It's as if there is a light within them. When viewing the first photo enlarged the left eye appears to have a "human eye" peering through. There is some subtle kinetic movement where she animates her sleep eyes to half close then open them wider. We have observed this manifestation when her doll host is sitting in a chair. She loves to be held and carried around. Her whole face brightens up! This 19 inch doll is a vintage 1964 Vogue doll. It is stamped Vogue Co. 1964 on the back of her neck. The head, legs, and arms are vinyl. The body is stuffed with a non working crier. Yet, one night her crier mysteriously worked. She has a darling face with unique spirit eyes that vary in shade from blue to green depending on her mood and the lighting in the room. One eye appears bigger than the other. Gives her that haunting "off" look that can is such a signature with haunted spirited dolls. She has been cleaned up but there is some subtle marks and variations on the body due to aging. Mary is in dire need of a new dress or outfit. Her vintage nightgown is too long and worn and she has no shoes. Hopefully her new adoptee family will spoil her with nice clothes, shoes, books, toys, kisses, and hugs :) I must state by law that any item considered paranormal in nature is for "entertainment." I cannot guarantee or be responsible how Mary will manifest in her new home. Treat Mary as member of the family and not a ghost. Thank you for visiting Mary!

other peoples views very welcome? Hi could anyone give me there feed back on the problem below. I was asked to carry out some work for a guy (as this is my trade, property maintenance) basically the roof of a property had fallen in and had not been repaired for 2 years hence in that time water had poured in and there were rats and mice in there as well and were the most unpleasant working conditions thinking i might get a bite from one of these fellas!! the room was full of shit nearly floor to ceiling and because of all the water damage on the inside it also had to be completely gutted and redone as well, basically i was told by the owner to remove some items and put them inside his house which i did and then i was told to dump everything else so i did i bagged it all up ready to dump. because my wife has a secondhand shop i had to go throw it later so i could remove all of the clothes shoes etc as we send these for recycling and they go of to third world countries etc. well to cut this short when i went threw all of the shit i found some items which i got checked out and some turn out to be worth a bit of money so i put them in for auction as in my mind i had been asked to remove this stuff and dump it so by rights it belonged to me now? or did it as a copula of weeks ago i was arrested for theft and whist there the police also mention theft by finding ? the guy found out by a third party about this and now claims i stole them but that's simply not true! the way i see it is he realised his mistake and now wants get it back by lying and hence trying to f**k up my life in the process. needless to say i did this work 6 months ago and got arrested 2 weeks ago any feed back legally or such would be great also how can it be theft by finding i didn't find it i was asked to dump it! that was part of the job
Am I out of order getting a "friend" to bid on my items on that well know online auction. ? I have listed some GENUINE designer clothes/shoes etc (NOT fake rubbish) and they only have a few Hours left to run, The bidding on these items are only up to a couple of £. I cant be bothered with the aggro and hassle of posting items for a couple of £, I would rather donate them to a charity shop. Back to my question....Am I out of order "shill bidding" my items. People want "stuff" for next to nothing...It is NOT going to happen. Sorry
Would you consider these pants to be 'hippyish'? If not, what is? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Clothing/Womenswear/Jeans-trousers-shorts/Size-8-under/auction-308225991.htm It's for a theme party. =) Also, any ideas what type of shoes go with hippy pants? Thanks so much =)
Need about 5 cheap baby dolls? My dad recently got some vintage baby clothes from our local thrift store for me. (75+ years old) Now I'd like to make little doll sets and then sell them. (like one year for a pregnancy center auction my dad and I made a Easter baby... We put grass in a basket and put the baby in an Easter dress and painted some Easter eggs then put them all in the basket) I'd probably sell them on Ebay or something. But anyways, I'm looking for some cheap baby dolls. I'd like to buy them directly instead of ordering them, but if I have to order I'll live. The cheapest I can find at Walmart or Target is $20, which is kind of expensive to get 5 or 6 of them plus everything I need to make the set. (toys, baskets, beds, etc...) So I have all the clothes and shoes, I just need the dolls now! So my actual question is, does anybody know where I can get 5 or 6 baby dolls for really cheap? ($5 or $10) We have a Walmart, a Target, a Joanne Fabrics, and I have access to a Michael's. And a Dollar Tree and a dollar store... But last I checked they didn't have any dolls big enough.
I have started doing a couple of days in a charity shop and The manager is stealing good stock to sell at home? They have cut my hours down to just 3 Days a week, So I decided to do a few Hours work for a large well known charity shop. I got quite friendly with the manager, I was at his home for a coffee I asked if I could nip to the toilet, His upstairs was CRAMMED with expensive quality clothes and shoes etc. He spilt the beans and told me he sorts the stock before it goes on sale and takes home the pick of the crop and sells it on that well known online auction. And pockets the cash for HIMSELF It made me sick to the stomach! I always wondered why charity shops look like they have got there stock from a tip? My question is this.. What can I do about this. Would the Police be interested in this or should I just mind my own business Thank you for your answers Have a great day. He is the manager of a well known charity shop and gets a paid wage
Why does Goodwill do this? Donating is good, but I used to volunteer at a Goodwill store. They accept donations, and they sometimes get so many things that some things end up in the dumpster and never to the sales floor due to not having enough space to hold them. They throw away stuff that they need to make room for especially shoes. They just dump them. They are not given to thrid world countries or books donated to schools. Clothes are sold at auctions. I like donating, but I have second thoughts about how good donation is because sometimes your stuff will just end up in the dumpster. I guess it's better that some of your stuff is bought by someone who wanted it.....
Ebay, Expierienced ebayers only please!!? live in San Diego where garage sales, swap meets and auctions are very plentifull and go year round. I have been buyin like dress slacke and making a little money, looking to find great deals on high end designer brands to re sell, just today, I came across a pair of salvatore farragomo dress shoes for women. I want to eventually do this it full time. Questions: 1. Should I offer free shipping on light items (clothing or drop the starting price a couple bucks and add a shipping charge? 2. Designer clothes, disney items, porcelain, china, What else should I buy and resell, any ideas here? 3. Do I actually have a chance of suing them? Okay, so let me run it down. My car got re-poed because my parents are retarded and didn't pay the bill. They payed the bill, but my car was already bought to an auctioning company, and I had to drive two hours in the opposite direction to the place that originally took my car to get my plates and everything that was in it. So, I drive there, and they have my plates, but they lost all my belongings in my car. They claimed it was still in my car but when I called them, they told me that they received the car empty. The place that takes the belongings out have a bunch of black bags with no labels on it, and they were just opening each bag saying "Is this yours?". I mean, how unorganized can you be? I have a lot of stuff in my car, including clothes, soccer cleats, shoes, jewelry, a whole kit that jumps my car and can put air in my tires, along with a bag, and some other little whatnots that still mean a lot to me. Is there any way I can sue them for all the valuables they lost and for the aggrevation they're causing me. Please serious answers only. I am seeking legitimate help. I am from New York.
I have a girlfriend but have found another girl that seems more compatible? I have a girlfriend that i have been with since july. I really care about her and I know she feels the same way about me. Recently i have found another girl that seems to be much more similar to me than my current girl does. This new girl shares a common interest in my line of work/ lifestyle. I am a farmer/ rancher and my current girlfriend has no interest whatsoever in working with cattle and I cannot really talk to her about ranching. This girl I have recently met has lived on a farm all her life and loves cattle, so much so that she is going into pre vet studies for large animals. I feel I can talk to her about anything and we have common ground on so many levels. I have had feelings for her since the moment I met her. My current is a very caring girl and she means well. Our interest are completely different. She loves shoes, shopping and celebrities. She wears designer clothing and will not settle for anything less. She hates to work and wants to be married in 3 years so she can have kids and not work anymore. The girl I met loves to have a good time, work hard, go far in life, and most important to me loves life on a farm. The takes an interest in what I do when I'm ranching and even works at an auction market. I feel we click on so many levels and always wants to see me. I've hung out with her a few times and my feelings grow stronger every time. I really don't know what to do and I need help. This is a very tough spot to be in.
We can leave Sarah alone now? She said she had no idea that the RNC had bought her those clothes. Most of them had been returned and the rest will be auctioned off after the election. She shops at target, walmart and local stores. She gets her shoes on sale. She had no idea they had spent that kind of money on those clothes. Yeah right sure she didn't. RNC had a couple of days to come with a viable excuse.
Isn't this a wonderful way to clear a room?!? London, June 19 (ANI): Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom's mother is auctioning off her son's clothes, slippers and a wet suit, in a bid to clear out his room before she moves house. Sonia Copeland-Bloom will also be selling off costumes worn by 'The Lords of the Ring' star during the filming of the trilogy. The money raised from 32-year-old star's unwanted possessions will go to charity. "I have spoken to Orlando who is quite happy for me to get as much as I can for charity," the Telegraph quoted Mrs Copeland-Bloom, who lives in Kent as saying. "There are some real collector's items among them and they will all be authenticated by me by letter," she added. The collection includes a bodyline wet suit used by Orlando, when he filmed a scene with Elijah Wood in The Return of the King and a poster signed by the entire cast, a pair of Moroccan slippers and boots he wore in The Kingdom of Heaven. Gucci shoes, Puma trainers, polo shirts and a hooded waterproof Gap jacket belonging to the star is also up for sale. "We are inviting people to send us bids of which the top ones will be invited to see the items before submitting a further sealed bid," said Copeland-Bloom. The money raised will be divided between four charities, UNESCO, the New Marlow Theatre, cancer charity Odyssey and the UKC Music Scholarships.

I commented on it but I never said that, that was another user. LOS-Um, no it wasn't me. If I would have said something I would have a good memory of it. How can you accuse me of something and don't have any proof or links to back it up with? Point taken. I know what I said. The questions was "Why are filipina women better than American women?" i want to start my own online store? Do you think I would have more sucess with my own website or an auction site like e-bay? I'm going to start with women's and junior's clothing, shoes, and accessories. If this goes well I may want to venture into children's clothing and home decor-should I just start a new site for these items or make my store one that sells all of these items? What are some good memorable names? Please base this on your opinion of my second question. Please answer any or all of these questions. Thank you so much.

Thanks for your help.

how does the article make distinction between firms? use these distionctions to analyze and gain insights? Abstract (Summary) Instead, Giancarlo Di Risio, Versace's bespectacled chief executive, presided over an evening that highlighted luxury goods: Parked at one end of the courtyard was a half-million-dollar Lamborghini Murcielago with a black-and-white leather interior by Versace. A huge poster showed an AgustaWestland helicopter with a Versace-designed cabin. Stacked nearby was luggage embossed with the brand's Greek motif, with pieces starting at about $4,000. The company found it increasingly tough to squeeze profits out of highly perishable fashions as production costs rose in Italy. In 1997, Mr. Versace was murdered outside his Miami villa. The firm's finances went into a tailspin, and it was forced to shelve plans to go public. Mr. Versace's 50% stake in the label went to his niece, Ms. Versace's then-preteen daughter Allegra Versace Beck, shifting the balance of power. Though Ms. Versace owns only 20% of the company, she was seen to exert huge influence because of her daughter's stake. A third sibling, Santo Versace, owns the remaining 30% of the company. Ms. Versace Beck, now 20 years old, manages her stake with the help of advisers. "I said to Di Risio, 'This is not going to work. This is going to die,'" recalled Ms. Versace. Reproduced with permission of copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission. Milan -- When Italian fashion house Gianni Versace SpA recently threw a cocktail party in the courtyard of its 16th-century palazzo to promote its latest creations, designer Donatella Versace ducked out of the soiree early, flanked by bodyguards. Instead, Giancarlo Di Risio, Versace's bespectacled chief executive, presided over an evening that highlighted luxury goods: Parked at one end of the courtyard was a half-million-dollar Lamborghini Murcielago with a black-and-white leather interior by Versace. A huge poster showed an AgustaWestland helicopter with a Versace-designed cabin. Stacked nearby was luggage embossed with the brand's Greek motif, with pieces starting at about $4,000. Mr. Di Risio is trying to shift Versace's attention away from clothes and to accessories, home interiors and other lifestyle products that will bring in new streams of revenue and offset fickle fashion cycles. "Fashion does not exist at Versace," he said, describing his strategy in an interview before the reception. The new approach is bearing fruit. Versace swung back into the black last year, posting a $25.4 million profit after years of losses, and has shaken off millions in debt. Driving that turnaround were rising sales in the lucrative accessories Mr. Di Risio is pushing. Yet the effects of the makeover have touched the core of the company's identity. Ms. Versace has begun taming the flamboyant clothing designs that once set her and the fashion house apart from the crowd. "I no longer recognize myself in that kind of woman," the 52-year-old Ms. Versace said in a telephone interview. The culture shift at Versace highlights how an increasingly competitive fashion industry is forcing even the most freewheeling players to embrace a corporate culture. Many labels, including LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton's smaller brands like Celine and Marc Jacobs, have also been toning down their looks to appeal to a wider swath of consumers. Designers who once called the shots are ceding authority to executives who run the numbers. "In the beginning, it was a shock for me," Ms. Versace said. "When you tell a person who is used to being in power -- to saying yes or no on everything -- to take a step back, it's not easy. But it was necessary." Tweaking a label's aesthetics carries risks. If pushed too far, transformations risk alienating loyal customers, says Robert Burke, head of New York-based luxury-goods consultancy Robert Burke Associates and the former fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman. "You will always want to see a fashion edge to Versace," he says. Yet for family-owned fashion labels like Versace, pressure to make more money is high. They compete with publicly traded conglomerates such as LVMH and PPR SA's Gucci Group, which have the financial heft to expand with stores in the emerging markets of China, India and Russia -- seen as fueling the industry's growth. A number of Italy's top family-owned fashion houses, including Versace, Prada SpA and Salvatore Ferragamo SpA, are considering stock- market listings in the next couple of years. "An IPO would be the best way to raise money and implant in these countries," says Peter Farren, a luxury-goods analyst at the French investment firm Bryan Garnier. At Versace, a sobering realization is spurring Mr. Di Risio's moves: The clothes that once made the brand are now struggling to make money. In its heyday in the early 1990s, Versace stayed ahead of the fashion mainstream with lavish catwalk shows that celebrated the racy designs of founder Gianni Versace. The label amassed collections of real estate and artwork that enhanced the family's jet-setter status. The Versace stakeholders decided the company needed a CEO who could turn the company around. Fabio Cacciatori, at one time an outside financial consultant for the company, became CEO in September 2003 but resigned in December. The company named Versace's then-Chief Financial Officer Daniele Ballestrazzi interim CEO as it searched for new leadership. When Versace recruited Mr. Di Risio from LVMH's Fendi label in the summer of 2004, the house was saddled with more than $146 million in debt and heading to a net loss of $124 million for the year, on revenue of $416 million. High-end retailers like Bergdorf Goodman had stopped carrying the brand. Bergdorf Chief Executive Jim Gold recalls that Versace was distributing too widely, diluting its exclusivity, and was overly consumed with making a splash on the runway. While many labels had started delivering retailers fresh designs more frequently, ahead of the runway collections, Versace resisted. Mr. Di Risio arrived with a new mantra. Clothing that is too fashionable, he told his lieutenants, is bad for business because it eats up capital and goes out of style quickly. Accessories and other leather goods are a better bet because they have a longer shelf life and fatter profit margins. To reduce Versace's dependence on fashion, Mr. Di Risio shut down lines such as Versace Intimates lingerie and Versace Young, a children's line. The company sold its unprofitable perfume, jewelry and watchmaking divisions, replacing them with lucrative licensing agreements with U.S. watch group Timex Corp. and Italian perfume and cosmetics maker EuroItalia Srl. Mr. Di Risio homed in on the company's shoes and handbags, which have higher profit margins because they cost less to produce than clothes but are easier to sell to a wide array of customers. Last year, more than 30% of Versace's $383 million in revenue came from accessories, compared with 4% when Mr. Di Risio arrived. He also expanded the label's push into home furnishings -- a business that generated sales of $82.5 million in 2006, up 55% from the year before. Versace recently unveiled its "Jet Seat," an aerodynamically-styled leather chair in a high-tech ceramic frame that is sold in Europe for <euro>38,000 (about $50,000). "It was like taking a blank page and rewriting everything," Mr. Di Risio says. To succeed, however, he had to get Ms. Versace on board. She had hoped to resurrect the costly haute-couture fashion shows the label had discontinued before Mr. Di Risio's arrival. But he argued she could more effectively enhance the line's exclusivity by holding showings for individual clients. "I said to Di Risio, 'This is not going to work. This is going to die,'" recalled Ms. Versace. But, she said, "I was wrong, and he was right. We sell more now." Ms. Versace had to become more conscious of how much time and money the label invests in promoting designs at events like the Oscars. Last year, the designer dressed actresses Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman and Salma Hayek and director Robert Altman's wife, Kathryn Reed Altman, who donned a navy-blue sequin gown. This year, however, Ms. Versace limited herself to one gown, designing a rose-colored dress with a sweeping train for best-actress nominee Penelope Cruz. For Versace's ready-to-wear line, Ms. Versace is going for looks she calls "a little more understated." Bergdorf Goodman will carry her designs in the fall for the first time in years. Ms. Versace is also working more closely with retailers, adding four more collections beyond the traditional spring and fall runway collections. These are shown to retailers in private visits, giving them a preview of what to expect. On the financial side, Mr. Di Risio has untangled the company's assets from those of the family, selling property he deemed "nonstrategic" to pay the company's debts. The family's Manhattan townhouse was sold for about $35 million, and its contents went up for auction in 2005. The paintings alone -- including works by artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein and Julian Schnabel -- fetched more than $11 million dollars. Flagship stores in New York, London and Milan that Mr. Di Risio described as "decadent and sad," were redone with sleek, minimalist designs. The label, which operates 82 stores and has 35 franchise operations, plans to open more than 10 boutiques by the end of the year, including seven stores in China alone. When Versace opened the doors of its updated Moscow boutique in April, an array of leather bags, belts and shoes greeted customers at the store's lacquered ground-floor entrance. The label's ready-to-wear collection was relegated to the upper floor.
