Military discount on airfare?

I wish that if there are any empty seats on a flight that our military men/women could jump on the flight for a big discount or free! They are stationed miles away from home! This would be great way for us all to say "Thank you"

1. I think thats a great idea and good way to give something back to them
2. I totally agree with you. However, military personnel have what's called Space-A. It's a good thing to try out. But you have to be near a military base that has cargo planes to carry you. Airlines will never give military personnel jumpseat privileges because they still charge employees of other carriers to fly sometimes. However, I think that there should be a special military fare for the soliders.
3. I know delta offers some great last minute military fares for our men and women in the militarty. Often cheaper than their lowest rate, and for their dependants. Miltary personell can also get on military transports for free on a standby basis as well.
