If a friend of mine has a cast member discount for hotels, and booked me a room, can you add the dinning pkg?
Is ticket purchase necessary?

- If the booking is under your friend's name, they will have to add the dining package for you. However, as a former cast member and frequent Disneyworld visitor I do not recommend the dining package at all. You will end up waiting in line with everyone else who has a dining package just to save $1 on a hamburger and fries.
- You must have the Magic Your Way PACKAGE to add the dining plan to it - this includes at least one day's ticket. Here's how it is explained on AllEars: "The Magic Your Way Dining Plan can only be purchased as follows: If you are a non-Disney Vacation Club member, you must purchase a Magic Your Way vacation package at a Disney resort for your entire party with at least one day's park admission. The number of days for the Dining Plan will equal the number of nights you have reserved your room on the package. It has nothing to do with the number of days of park admission you have." But you must have at least one day's admission. So since yoru friend booked just the room, you don't have the package deal and cannot add the dining plan.
- If you have a castmember discount for hotels it isn't worth the price to add a package on to the room
