What percentage do auctioneers generally charge?

I have spoken with an auctioneer about auctioning off a decent amount of household items and furniture. He quoted me 1/3 of the gross plus another $800 of my cut for advertising. He even mentioned that he might be bringing additional items here to auction off that would reduce the advertising costs but I would see none of that for in essence serving as his auction house. And he will be operating concessions here and it wasn't mentrioned that I would get a cut so I think it is fair to say I won't be seeing any of this money. Is this standard?
