First if you are buying a salvage title I would suggest you are buying it at a very good discount of book value. Otherwise why buy it! Second only buy if you plan on driving it for a longer term and dont plan on trading off, they can and will be harder to get rid of. However if you drive enough to get the life out of it you save a ton of money up front. Third if you are going to drive a salvage title vehicle it should be affordable enough you dont need to carry full coverage insurance. Flood cars are bad news! Only buy if at parts car prices and you need parts. Make sure repairs were properly made, buy from reputable repairers or have work inspected. I was born and raised in the auto recycling industry and drove salvage title vehicles all my life. I drive $20k cars that I wouldnt be able to afford if they were purchased off the lot for wholesale prices. A great way to save some money and drive what i otherwise couldnt afford. Other opinions welcome.
