  3. Can't upset the criminals, can we???
  4. eventually only the rich will be able to drive :(
  5. YEPPP lets revolt
  6. I know... here it's just over a pound per litre which is a bit rude. Plus, I seem to keep on being followed by bored policemen (must be for my good looks!) and you have to wonder if they don't have any better things to do than following teenage drivers about.
  7. cos the money is needed to pay out benefits.
  8. greed and profits humbug
  9. Sorry, Matt, it's all to do with targets and the duty we pay to the government. God help us. Merry Christmas!
  10. Hey, it is sooo much easier to take money from the honest, generally law abiding citizen, than to put out the effort to stop the real criminals. You could blame the politicians who pass such stupid, unjust laws, except you elected them and keep on re-electing them. It doesn't cost more per car to maintain roads and highway services in the UK, so where does the money go? It's a secret A car worth less than a set amount may be written off by any insurance company whenever the cost of repair exceeds the resale value, but a law requiring only new parts and not used parts is punitive to the poor. Again with insurance it is on the car, because someone without insurance may drive it. That is why each car is insured separately even though there may be only one driver for multiple vehicles. If one is stolen and is in a accident the victim will get paid. Then the owner pays in increased premiums for having his car stolen, no matter what he has done to prevent it, since a car is attractive to thieves and it is the owners fault for having one. Follow the money from the insurance companies to the politicians where it becomes a secret. The insurance companies make more money by sticking it to the drivers. Haven't you figured it out yet? The elitists don't want the lower classes owning cars, driving around wherever they want, whenever they want. They want the poor to be dependent on public [government] transport and under government control. Secrecy in government is the pathway to tyranny. Only freedom of information, open government guarantees democracy. Stop voting for your Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee parties and wake up.
  11. uninsured-untaxed-speeding motorists ARE real criminals....if you dont believe me just ask the relatives of someone that was killed by such a person!p.s. if you are legal then what are you moaning for-these methods only catch the illegal drivers!!!
  12. You can be easily identified from the car registration and the request for money sent to you. What could be easier? Real criminals are so hard to catch and convict and then they do not pay. Good Government that one! BTW - Your no claims discount can apply to the insurance on any car. RoyS.
  13. I agree the cost of petrol is high in the UK (even though an American gallon is less than a UK One) - for that you can blame government policy (which other product has tax (VAT) applied on tax (Fuel Excise Duty)?) However in view of CO2 release it would make sense for the Government to encourage fuel economy (which I would do by Taxing large vehicles at point of purchase). Re: Insurance For the last 14 years motor insurance providers have consistently LOST money underwriting car insurance i.e. they pay out more than they earn - so it is unfair to call it a 'rip-off'. Older people can obtain relatively cheap insurance because they are more responsible - even if they are inexperienced they don't tend to buy fast cars and show off to their mates (as many youngsters do). Many cars are written off as new parts are used (would you trust a car with second-hand parts - where have they come from?) and Labour costs are very high. However the customer should get the market value of the car and hence be no worse off. (If the insurance company offer low write-off values they are not treating their customers fairly and customers can put in complaints - which can eventually be adjudicated by the FOS) And finally - the no claims bonus is on the policy, not the driver, nor the car. Each policy earns and loses its no claims bonus separately - so if a driver states they have 4 years bonus then they do in fact only have it on one car and they can't use it on a second or third (many companies give high introductory bonuses on second cars for mature drivers though). Put it like this - if you have three cars and have an accident in one of them - would you accept having to pay substantially more for each of the two cars in which you did not have the accident? Thought not!
