how can i get rid of this stars wars stuff?
my boyfriend (25) has alot of old star wars toys. he needs to sell them 1. for money 2. to get rid of them, as we rent he cant humph them about for the rest of his life. we dont know where 2 sell them> we dont have a car so cant phyiscally take them to an auction ourselves. we have only gone through some of the items to record them on the computer (to record how many things he's got) i think in total he's got 200 - 300 odd items. r there any stars wars conventions where we could sell them? or is there any good auctioneers who would sell them? i phoned one auction place who said theyd come round with a van and take them away for a small charge and sell them at an auction but then we've no guarantee they wont just do a runner, or take some of the items for themselves and not sell all of them? would we get a valuer to come round and would he be able to value them at our house? please advice We live in London UK thanx

- ebay is the best way. Good luck.
- They're right. eBay is by far your best bet. Take decent photos and for heaven's sake check your spelling when you list them. Make sure you include a realistic price for postage and packing.
- sell them on ebay!
- Ebay has a separate category for star wars toys. if they are the original vintage Kenner/Palitoy (1977-84) toys then you can expect to clean up - they are worth a fortune to collectors.

- Put them on ebay
- Yes, ebaying them is the best way. But although you may hate that your boyfriend has toys, there is a chance that they are very valuable (I would know more if you listed some items and how old they were). If you put them on eBay, make sure you put a reserve on the more valuable items. DO not use an auctioneer, like you said how can you trust them, plus they are only interested in making money for themselves, not for you, and finally they cant reach as many people as the web can. Sell them individually, although it will take longer, it will be more profitable to you. Here are some sites you can sell stuff for that work like eBay. Do some searching on the sites for the items you have, then price accordingly. If you have a local comic store, they will have a price guide for your toys so you can sell them at the best price. - You will get plenty of buyers in the London area, if you list on eBay you could sell as individual items which you could easily post (not all guaranteed to sell) or as a job-lot (will definitely sell but at a lower overall price) and put collection only. I would suggest selling as small lots of similar figures, larger items such as vehicles individually. Be sure to pack the items well in bubble wrap and appropriately sized boxes, it's OK to pass on the cost of the box and bubble wrap to the buyer in the postage & packing charge. If you really want to sell them then put a start price of 1.99 with no reserve - buyers will bid appropriately, some may fetch less than their going rate, others may fetch a lot more, it just depends who's bidding at that time. If you start putting reserves and high start prices then you could end up not selling them which will cost you dear in eBay listings fees. You have to ask yourself what's more important - getting rid or getting the money. I too would not trust valuers or auctioneers - their cut will eat into your profits enormously, and they will choose which items to put into a lot which may not be the best thing for you; some lots might not sell at all and you'd have to go and collect them yourself. If you go to a convention then you'll get all sorts of people mauling your stuff, in general they will be extremely picky and you may only sell a few items, might not even cover the extortionate cost of your stall.

- Ebay put a reserve on them though so that they will only sell once they get above your lowest wanted sale price.
- Make sure that you get a good, fair price for them, shop around for offers, some of them are worth a lot of money !
- I'm sure a telephone call to one of the more reputable auction dealers would get you a home visit to apprase your collection, and arrange for transportation to take it to their "house". Go on the internet for WWW.BONHAMS.COM www.christies.com and southebys.com - They won't do ya dirt! This would satisfy your #2 requirement and your # 1 when the sale is held. Maybe an ad in your local paper might bring collectors into your livingroom. Maybe you should let the oldman keep a couple of the dearest to his heart!
- ebay is the answer to this - my friend sold his on there and made quite a lot of money -put the oddments in lots always start bidding low
