How do you find out how much a rare/old/antique/collectible item is?

I have some very old editions of National Geographic Magazines (1960's-1990's) & I want to sell them but I don't know how much to sell them for/what they're worth.

1. You could try Ebay... If you want me to be honest, almost every library has a book sale consisting of thousands of National Geographic's...You'll be lucky to get somebody who would want to collect them all.
2. Antiques Roadshow? I doubt those are worth anything. Go to a local antiques shop and they should know.
