What are a real estate agents duties?

I would like to know what you and the law thinks of what a real estate agents duties are?

1. Look up the licensing requirements on your state department of licensing. Your question is too vague but you can find the requirements for RE licensing on the state site.
2. It really depends on what area of expetise you want to do. I will cover a few of the basic duties. You can do the regular real estate things like list and sell houses to the general public. This takes a marketing plan to determine what is best for you and how you want to go about selling houses and going about getting listings. Interview a few successful real estate agents about how they go about marketing themselves. Take the best of all that you interview and come up with a marketing plan for yourself. Some just become listing agents only, in other words they spend a lot of time just listing properties to be sold, depend on others to sell the properties they have listed. They do not spend a lot of time making an attempt at selling what they have listed. Others are selling agents, they sell what others have listed, and spend very little time listing properties, they sell what others have listed. Being in either of these areas of real estate you will be reguired to hold open houses, prepare contracts, know of the various other supporting companies you need to complete the transaction such as a loan officer or mortage broker, title company, escrow or closing office, appraiser and insurance company. These contacts youi will develop over time. You have to insure these are top notch producers as they partly represent you, you want a smooth transaction during the entire process, so select people in the above field that has proven over time that they can produce in a timely manner. Select wisely all your client will remember if something go wrong is that you suggested this person or company. Another duty real estate agents do are manage properties for others, they take care of finding tenants for apartment owners as well as tenants for commercial property that is for rent or lease. Some real estate agents become loan offices, securing loans for people that want to purchase homes or want to refinance their home once they have purchased them. You must have a good marketing plan for this phase also. You will also need a dependable team in this phase also, so select wisely. Those are a few of the duties of a real estate agent.
