Do real estate agents mind if you attend an open house "for fun"?
I love to go to open houses in my neighborhood. I always wonder if real estate agents get annoyed at this. Should I just not sign in and tell them I'm just a "nosey neighbor"?

- we love nosy neighbors ! :) Because we always like to hear others opinions (what you like what you don't like) so we can tell our sellers what possible improvements to make
- Agents expect it, and it is welcome for the most part. The more folks that see a home and are able to talk about it, the better...
- NOT AT ALL....we love to hear what neighbors have to say, plus you might just run into someone looking for a house just like the one you just "nosed" through. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. Stop by anytime!!
- I was a realtor at a new homes site and it didnt bother me as long as you told me right off the bat that you were a neighbor just checking out the house/decor. That way I would know not to waste my time trying to sell you (ok maybe a little but if I had a viable customer there I wouldnt want to split my time with a "looker"). Besides your word of mouth might just help sell the home! You must sign in however. Its for safety as well as selling issues. If something was to happen to the realtor, the theory is they would know who was in the house. Though I couldnt imagine a robber/killer would give accurate info - thats just the rules - at least where I worked. I wouldnt tell the realtor you are a nosy neighbor but rather you are interested in home decor/looking for ideas, otherwise, thats exactly how you will be looked at. Also your presence might help create a sense of popularity which creates urgency.
- They like the traffic.
- Agents don't mind this. First, it gives them a chance to meet you face to face. And maybe make a favorable impression that will be useful to you both at a later date. Second, you may like the home well enough to make an offer yourself or tell someone in your circle of influence about it. Either way, it's a no-lose situation for the agent. So, go!
