What works better for a dog eating its own feces?
What works better meat tenderizer or For-bid? any advice, my dog always eats its own feces, we feed her Innova so it is not a lack of good food. So how do you know what your dog needs food wise...is something better than Innova? I want to feed her dry food only. ya i pick it up as fast as i can but now she turns around right away and starts gulping it down. I have already tried pineapple and garlic.

- for-bid
- I've heard good things about both methods and their affects, so I would assume either would work fine. However, don't assume that just because you're feeding a good quality food that she's not still lacking. It has NOTHING to do with the brand of food. It has EVERYTHING to do with the individual dog. Her needs are not the same as every other dog, and while one dog will do well on Innova, she may or may not. It depends on her body and her individual needs. Just a little fyi for ya.
- We use Accent, not a meat tenderizer. For-bid is also good. I've also read posts on here that say to add pineapple to the dogs food, but mine won't eat the pineapple. Try to keep the stools picked up as the dog goes. That goes a long way towards helping the problem. Good luck.
- thts desgusting
- There is a suplement you can get from your vet that makes feces taste terrible to dogs. (It is an amazing product considering how much my dogs love cat poo!) You only should have to give it to them for a little while, then they will dislike it, & should not be intrested again. Then you can stop giving it to them. It is worth a try!
- clean up the poop
- The most effective thing I found was brewers yeast tablets for dogs, it makes their poop taste really awful to them and just a couple weeks broke the habit for my baby.
- For-Bid works great, tenderizer usually works, and pineapple can work as well. I would also try to bag the feces as much as possible to keep your dog from eating it. Good luck!
- My dog was a rescue and he was an "omega". He barely got to eat with the pack so he ate feces. I rid him of this habit by "CATCHING HIM IN THE ACT" and saying NO or using a spray bottle of water when you catch him doing it. It's a habit they can break, mine did and he was the worst ever at doing this. Now, he won't even consider it. P.S. (important) you have to catch them in the act as it won't work if you scold him after he's well into eating it. Good luck!
- my dog had the same prob as a pup she is now 1 (my lil kenya) anyway my hubbyand i will stop her if we saw her (with the ceasar method the shhhhhh and the finger up) or i would tap her flick her nose w/ my finger quite harmless since she was so babied she didnt like that so she would get all booty hurt....another thing that helped was getting good quality dry food and buying some good vitamins (get them w/ a vet) they also have a special powder that you put in your dogs food that the vet can give you which works wonders...kenya wouldnt even smell her poop...and also eventually if you remind her not too constantly they would grow out of it...it take awhile and paitence trust me....but now KENYA is poop free lol...good luck hun
