How can I form a clear plastic, acetate or acrylic, to make boxes to enclose collectibles?

I got lots of old toys (dolls, cars, action figures) big & small collectibles which I would like to preserve in clear plastic enclosures. These items if enclosed, would be kept from dust and insects, and would give them a longer self-life. These would also serve as decorative piece, can be displayed in your living or bedroom or somewhere inside your home you found appropriate.

  1. There are books on this. See-Vacuum forming. Also clear acrylic sheet (at hardware store) can be cut, sanded, and glued to make sturdy cases. Accuracy of the fitted pieces is imperative!
  2. You may also wish to purchase acrylic cases in different sizes for your collections. http://www.misterplexi.com/dollcase.html .
  3. I think that WayMoreParsec has headed you in the right direction if you want to make you own boxes. Here's some further information on the glues used with acrylic: http://www.craftics.com/products.cfm?Category=80
