How bad has bid collusion become on auction sites such as EBay?

Where someone will purposely bid-up your item as to get as close to your maximum bid as possible...

1. As they have no way of knowing your maximum bid, and if they go over your bid and win the seller still pays a fee to eBay. I would say there is very little collusion. Besides from my experience as both a seller and buyer there is no need to bump the bids, as usually right before close someone will bid and bump the price.
