How do I know what to sell my collectibles at?

I want to sell collectible silver bells but I do not know what price to sell at.Is ebay the best place?

  1. EBay is one place, of course. But it may be worthwhile to check out the local brick-and-mortar places, too. What you need to know is where collectors of silver bells go, not necessarily eBay. In fact, it may be one of those specialties that has not caught on to the Internet much yet. Try a music store in your area, if that's the type of bells we are talking about. If they are decorative, dinner-bell type bells, try a good high-end jewelry store. Ask them if they are interested, but also ask them if they know how to get in touch with collectors. The people who buy on eBay are mostly young and computer-savvy, which I suspect may not apply to such a specialized collectible. Good luck!
  2. eBay is filled with sellers who haven't researched the item they're selling so they either over-price the item or, of course, under-price the item. check out the vendors at www.tias.com or www.rubylane.com. Www.goantiques.com is good too, to get a better idea of what your collection is worth. Check out the reference books in some of the brick/mortar stores in your area (they are behind the counter in most cases).
