What is YOUR solution for the unethical conduct from both parties in the congress?

Murtha is called "King Corruption" by Republican reformers, but what happened after midnight Aug. 5 is not a party matter. Democrats and Republicans, as always, locked arms supporting every earmark. It makes no difference that at least seven House members are under investigation by the Justice Department. A bipartisan majority insists on sending taxpayers money to companies in their districts without competitive bidding or public review. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/RobertDNovak/2007/08/13/house_of_corruption

  1. All incumbents out of office! All power to the people!
  2. Vote
  3. Don't re-elect them. We can't trust them to police themselves.
  4. Vote for a third party candidate. Don't re-elect any incumbent.
  5. Vote antiincumbent until they are all gone. Then vote antiincumbent until they are all forgotten. Then vote antiincumbent to prevent it ever happening again.
  6. I would say "revolution" - but our Military would never back us.
  7. Strict one term limits.
  8. It's time for the states to call a constitutional convention. Although it's never been done before, the constitution does provide a mechanism to create amendments WITHOUT any say from the federal government.
  9. Term limits, pure and simple. Two terms Senate - 12 years - is enough for anyone with drive to make a contribution and serve their state and their country. Then, flip the office. This ensures generational turnover within 24 years, most likely - a good thing. Four terms House - 8 years - also sufficient to contribute, and capped at just that point where campaign warchests are too daunting for challengers. The House was always intended to be the high-churn legislative body (ref. Federalist Papers) - let's restore that element. Of course, every system is corruptible, and term limits won't solve all problems, but I believe they will greatly mitigate the troubles that we are all (left and right) railing against. I reject the argument that term limits infringe on free speech (and I'll leave it at that for now).
  10. A lot of these proposed 'solutions' here attack the political side, hoping to weaken its power. That is not where the power lies, it is with those with $, mostly corporations and the wealthy. This is what corrupts politics, those people have a voice and they get stuff done, regardless of who does it. Meanwhile the politicians keep us divided and bombard us with their propaganda. The solution would be for citizens to collectively unite, form their own lobbying group in their interests and compete with big business and the wealthy head on.
  11. Corruption should be an automatic lifetime ban from holding public office. If people cant maintain integrity, then they shouldnt be there. End of story.
  12. I've always said it. TERM LIMITS.
