I own a cleaning company that does commercial and new construction jobs. How do I find jobs for bid in my area

I am interested in jobs within the Mahoning county in Ohio at this time

  1. I am in the HVAC/R business, and I have learned over time that the best way for me to land new contracts is to pay a visit to various local businesses and offer my services. Be sure to come up with some scheme as a colorful flyer or business cards to leave with them. As far as the new work, try to find the local construction companies and advertise your services to them. Last but not least, there are companies that specialize in collecting and distributing data about new jobs bidding in a specific area, such as CMD, Dodge Reports, or American Builders Exchange (here anyways) that list the upcoming jobs, jobs that have been let, and pending jobs. These companies usually charge a membership fee, but usually there is a period of time that is a trial period. Keep an eye on these and contact the winner of the job, if a cleanup contract isn't in the bid.
  2. Other than word of mouth (stopping in and talking to any owner or manager about what type of services your company can provide) In the classified section of most newspapers there is a listing called "Public Notices" where many bidding props are available
  3. Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careebuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.
