- Yes, you can, if the auction hasn't ended yet but I wouldn't do it too often because sellers do not like it and it shows up on your profile how many bids you have retracted. On ebay, click on help and then search "retracting a bid" and it will tell you how to do it.
- Of course not. A bid is a binding contract. You have to go through several steps before you place a bid to prevent you from making a mistake. You can humbly ask the seller to cancel your bid, but they don't have to and if you win, you would be obligated to pay. Do not do a bid retraction. There are very specific rules for retracting a bid, and bidders remorse is one of them. Bid retractions are tracked and if they're invalid you could get booted from ebay for life.....deservably so. It costs sellers time and money to list items. If you bid....and win.....pay.
- Mommyofboys, You are wrong in that he CAN'T retract a bid, ANYONE CAN before the auction ends...BUT, eBay DOES record retracted bids on your account AND you MUST state reasons WHY you need to retract the bid (i.e. Accidentally bid too high of a price, etc.) + If you retract TOO many times, eBay MAY ban you. NOW, as an eBay Seller, I certainly DON'T want people to retract bids because either I won't sell the item OR I'll get less for it....Either way, I still have to pay the same eBay listing fees! AND sometimes (although this should NEVER, EVER happen), parents let their kids bid for things on the parent's eBay account....people are torn on this issue...Either: 1. Parents shouldn't let their kids on their PC's, so they are responsible for the bid -or- 2. It was a mistake beyond the parent's control, so they should be able to retract the bid.
