Belt Auction

What can i use to remove black leather dye stains from a cream patent leather belt?

The cream belt has been stored in a box with black leather belts and now has black dye marks on it. It was very expensive and now ruined i think. I have tried jif, fairy liquid, vanish

  1. i used to sell leather furniture and its a nightmare, try stain devils and keep rubbing lightly (10 mins) i have had got results from JIFF but rub lightly and it takes a while, keep going at it and don rub too hard.
  2. You have what is known as dye transfer. You need a strong detergent cleaner like Maxi Cleaner to try to remove this. The dye will have gone into the finish on the leather and the deeper it has gone the harder it will be to remove. A good leather technician will have the proper products to do this and he may have to replace finish and pigment so it is best left to him/her to do. A good leather protector will inhibit this kind of thing happening again. If you use solvents yourself to remove this (which may be what is required) you are likely to ruin the belt so it is not advisable.
