Question on lawn mower belt?

It is Scotts 16Hp/42" automatic Powered by Kolhler.command 42"DEck 12Gauge steel what size lawnmower belt should I buy?

1. do you have the old one,? look for a number on the old belt, or run a 1/2 inch rope around the pulleys and mesure it, to the lenght,
2. This the deck belt or drive belt? Like suggested, if you have the old belt- it can be matched up at an autoparts store- mention you need it for a lawntractor as itll be a heavier duty belt. If not, try the rope trick around the pulleys.
3. First thing I would do is look under the engine cover for a tag giving the OEM part numbers. I get my belts at the auto parts, they are cheaper. They just cross reference the numbers.
