what are the techniques used to install v-belts in a car?
i have a 1989 Nissan 240sx, i currently am trying to replace the power steering belt and alternator v-belts, but i am having a hard time trying to put them in, i was wondering if there are any techniques used to install belts in a car.

- Most cars have an idler pulley that is adjustable for tension, just loosen it until you get the belt over it
- I take it you removed the old belts (i.e. they did not break). Usually, the newer belts are a tight fit over the pulleys. I have had to use a flat screwdriver to carefully pry the belt over the pulley, while rotating the pulley. Kinda like putting a chain on the sprocket and giving it a pedal to get it all the way around. Good luck. I'm assuming that you loosened the idler pulley all the way etc...
