V belts chaging problems?

A friend and I were trying 2 change the belts on my '95 Isuzu Trooper,3.2,5speed with V belts. For 2 hours we could'nt.I've change belts on few cars before.My friend has done it on some cars also.We could not even get none of the belts loosen.If any one has done it before,we do need some help.Thanx
