Do the V groove shaped belts such as for power steering require a different tension check then reg v groove?
its the small ones with big Vs in it like old belts had for my power steering

- no not really.... pretty much check and tighen the same way
- just replace with the same as it was but sometimes these V groove belts are noisier to operate!!
- A good rule to go by for any belt is 1 inch movement. In the longest space between pulleys move the belt up and down. 1/2 inch free play up and a 1/2 inch down is the proper tension. If it's a new belt check the tension every 1000 miles or so. New belts will usually stretch some.
