What is the reason behind using more than one grooved sheave and v-belt transmission?

1. If you asking about serpentine verses v-belt, its slippage. Multi grooved belts slip much less, thus last longer, and are quieter as well.
2. When heavy loads is applied one belts tends to slip some, and tend to stretch making it slip more. Two or more belts will last longer and have less slippage. John, Paul, Mike and David can push the car easyer than John by himself. .
