?Antique? Chinese Silk Embroidery?

A few months ago I came across these embroidered silk pieces, some which are numbered and say "made in the peoples republic of china" Does anyone have any history, or idea of where they were made? I have about a dozen of them and wanted to sew them in to a quilt, but I want to know if they're something special, or just mass produced. here's the link to the pictures on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/baporter84/sets/72157604510200603/ thanks for any info!

  1. They are indeed beautiful. If the tag says made in the people's republic, that means they were made after communism set in. Can't give you a date on that. Now that I'm thinking about it though, If they have a tag at all that is a dead giveaway that they are mass produced. Go ahead and make your quilt but no one has to know they aren't ancient and well preserved pieces. Good luck.
  2. Hello, these were mass produced pieces I remember buying and selling in the early 1980's. I wouldn't put them in a quilt that you ever plan to launder, as they will come apart. I've seen them used in cushions and they don't hold up well either. They don't have very much value.
  3. The silk is beautiful. I would frame the pieces and hang them on the wall.
