Should the furniture store give me a discount for paying in cash?
I need to buy a houseful of furniture. Years ago I think this would work but I think maybe today they want you to use store credit. I was thinking about asking for a 10% discount. Hey, all they can say is no, right?

- Last time i bought furniture, i asked for a discount if i payed with cash, and they said yes. It was only 10%, but that's better then nothing. The economy isn't very good right now, so my guess is you might be able to get more :-)
- You can negotiate discounts on furniture just like you can buying a car. As far as the method of payment is concerned, you can likewise negotiate a better price if the seller will also make money off of the financing. Therefore, paying with cash will not benefit the sales price, but you can still negotiate a lower price.
- Yes. Whenever you buy jewerly, a car, house, furniture with cash or a huge mass of a store's inventory, they do not have to but they will if you ask the manager and confidentely tell them that you are planning on paying in cash today (don't tell them that until you receive the final price) and then ask for a discount. All of those things I listed above are extremely overpriced so even when they make it appear as though they are doing you a favor, don't feel bad b/c they are not. Good luck!
