Why do people pay more for items when bidding on eBay than what is charged in stores?

People often pay for items when bidding on eBay than they would if they just went to a store and bought the item.

1. some are too lazy to go to the store, some are oblivious. Usually they don't know the real price for it and get carried away bidding.
2. It is like a form of gambling. You feel like a winner of the lottery almost. Your sensibility goes out the window until you win and then reality sets in.
3. Because often our local stores do not carry the item in stock or they charge too much. I'm not lazy, It's not like I live in a city with every store around. So I buy on Ebay.
