How much do new belts cost for vehicles?

I have a 1994 Honda passport, and sometimes (about once every month or so depending on the weather) my vehicle will have a HIGH pitched squeaking sound... Im really convinced its the belts in it. I'm curious to know how much it would cost to buy new belts. Any clue?

  1. the belts cost anywhere from 20-80
  2. About 10 bucks. dont know how many belts it has. but you can go to autozone.com type in make and model of vehicle. 4wheel or 2wheel drive and you can do a price check on the belts through them. they are easy to change too. But the squeaky belt could be due to a bad alternator or even a defective waterpump. your waterpump will leak if it is defective. it will also start to make a noise. but you can go to a parts store and have your alternator tested. A belt may be loose as well which will cause it to squeal.
  3. How old and what condition is the vehicle battery in? A defective battery or one that is becoming defective, will require constant charging by the alternator. When the vehicle is initially started, along with any accessories turned on, a heavy load is applied to the alternator belt. The constant abnormal load on the belt will possibly cause it to slip - the more it slips - the more polished the pulleys become and the worse the problem becomes. Even a new serpentine belt, on polished pulleys and under constant severe load, may slip and cause a squeal. A good battery - fully charged is 12.66V engine off. A digital tester reading, at the battery terminals, with ALL the accessories on and engine running, should read 13.8V to 14.5V. Have someone check it. Belts $150 to $300 If you do one sometimes they have to remove them all to do just one - do them all. The labor is the same - you only pay for the additional belts. If your vehicle has the squeeking belt in a location that is easy to replace - the belt should be around $50 if it is a one belt system.
