How can I find out where local auctions are held?

I've tried looking in the local newspapers and on the internet but can't find anything even though I know there a auctions in my area. I'm not thinking of property auctions more things like antiques and books etc to the person who said its not rocket science... hello...... if you read question properly you would see it clearly states that i have looked in local papers and found nothing... hardly rocket science answering a question.... if its soooo much trouble don't answer!!!! Sorry, I live in Britain, is the info about contacted record departments or tax accessors relevant in Britain??

1. contact your local Records Department or Tax accessor. however, almost always the auctions are held on the courthouse steps. good luck :)
2. look in the phone book then put their name in your serch engine
3. Alot of times where I live there are local circulars in grocery stores at the entrance.
4. look in the local press under classified/auctions NOT EXACTLY rocket science is it
5. Yahoo Local, or search for auctions/auctioneers in (your location) then see local results for auctions near (area)
6. You usuall can see them in newspapers
