How long does it take for bidding to start on an ebay auction?

From the time that you post the item, what is the typical wait for bids to come in? What speeds the process up, etc?

1. As soon as you upload it, it's up for bids. Sometimes it takes a while for it to show up in the search, maybe an hour or two at most, and I don't know of anything that speeds that up.
2. The best way to speed up your auction is to use keywords; just try to be as descriptive of your item as possible. Lots of buyers use eBay's "Favorites" to let them know whenever a particular item comes up for auction. The feature searches for buyer-specified keywords in new listings and sends an email to the buyer whenever an auction is posted that meets those specifications. Example: during the summer one of my auctions got a bid while I was listing the next item. I'd say, it was about a 3-minute turnaround!
