How do I win eBay auctions?

I'm sure this is a question that's been asked many times, but I'M FED UP WITH LOOSING THE BID WARS I WANT TO WIN SOMTHING FOR ONCE. Every time I try to win somthing at an eBay auction I always loose. I had a look on the web at some way around this and I came across a thing called "powersnipe", apparently it automatically snipes so I don't have to and increases my chances of winning. I tried to download ad install the demo, but it's a *.sit file, I don't know how to open it. Is it some kind of zipped archive file? I also found a free thing called Jbid Auction watcher, is this a good sniping program? What's the best way to win?

1. These programs are illegal. Just do your share of checking :)
2. You have to remember when the bid ends and starting bidding with there is 1-2 minutes left. If it's a popular item then many people are doing the same thing. Of course keep in mind the maximum you are willing to pay for an item.
3. submit you bid with 5 minutes left in auction and see if anybody has a higher bid. if so bid higher, and keep watching. repeat if necessary. be careful not to bid more than item is worth. good luck
4. be on ebay as the item ends, depending on your connection speed 5 or so min b4 the auction ends bid then, not before. its how i win stuf. cause people put in their top bids days b4 then leave it so u only gotta go a few pence over that and their often not around to outbid you again.
5. The problem is at ebay there a lot of competition. Also ebay have a system that buyer can bid very high but no one else see it.. Example Bid 2.99 but the last buyer bid 80.00 dollars you will see only the 2.99 and not until someone is near the 80.00 dollars cant win... When a seller have active that service I don't bid twice.
