Can anyone tell me some things about belts during the Civil War?
I need general information about the belts worn by soldiers during the Civil War. Anything you know would be fine, even if it's only one sentence. It would be a BIG help! Thanks.

- I don't know about the belts, but something interesting about the belt buckles: The Union soldiers had belt buckles that said u.s. on them. So after a battle, the Confederate soldiers would take the buckles off the dead people and use them themselves. (The Union was rich, the South not so much) but they would wear the belt buckle upside down to say sn (southern nation.)
- Here are some places to look. They are replicas, but have historical information. http://www.ushist.com/props/leathergoods_belts_civil-war-confederate-us.htm Belt buckles are also one of the biggest collectibles from the war -- and one of the most counterfeited. http://hanoverbrass.com/ http://www.civilwarrelics.com/museum/vmbuckle.htm
