Belt Auction

How early should I begin my online bidding to buy a new car?

I plan on buying a few days after Christmas. I already have my financing. Should I do my online bidding now or wait a couple of weeks? I also heard somewhere that I should ask for the fleet manager for the best price. Has anyone else heard this? Anyone have any tips for buying a new car? Thanks FYI...I did hear I could go directly to a fleet manager. And yes I will be "bidding" online to cocky salesman like you. I intend to get price quotes from many dealers and play them against themselves for the best price. ;-)

  1. "Bidding"? Are you buying from an auction? You cannot buy a fleet car unless you are a company. Did some one actually tell you this would work? Cmon. Wouldn't EVERY ONE do it then? Just get on line and send out internet inquiries. It all depends on what you are looking for too. For example, the Big 3 right now has employee pricing. If you're looking for a Chevy, Ford or Dodge, it is absolutely irrelevant when you go. As long as they have employee pricing, it doesn't get better than that. If you are looking for something in High Demand (a Prius for example), you should have started looking 3 months ago. You will pay sticker price for a Prius (depending on where you are located) and it may take 3 months to get you one. Don't make this so complicated. Just do some research and go buy a car already and help the economy. Pay a fair profit over invoice and you will have a easy transaction. Don't offer 20,000.00 on a 40,000.00 car. If you can give me more info on what you are looking for, feel free to email me for help. Your question is very vague. From your friendly Toyota Salesperson :)
  2. forget the carsalesman! He is on a commission. Go on the internet and deal with the internet manager at the dealership. He is paid on volume, not straight commission. As for the idiot that says you can't buy from a fleet manager..........yeh right, I have been doing just that for years. Now, I use the internet. It's faster and easier.
  3. Here's the facts, whether you believe it or not. Fleet sales is just that, so if you are buying 2 or more at the same time, no matter what you heard it's bull. Second, if you are bidding you should wait to the last hour or two, no need driving the price up, If the car is listed by a dealer for auction, don't expect to buy it below cost, reason being a dealer can list it and drive the price up so you pay what they want, not what you want. All they have to do is have either salesman or office worker register and bid. You don't have to be a genius to do that. As a dealer I deal with dealers everyday, trust me, IT'S NOT FUN.
