  4. No
  5. Hahaha! This is probably gonna sound really stupid but... I was in town this morning with my younger sister and we were in Debenhams when a woman's voice went around the whole shop asking everyone to stop for 2 minutes silence. I didn't understand why, as I thought you only had 2 minutes silence on the actual remembrance day (11/11) I was looking at bras at the time and everyone suddenly stopped and stood exactly where they were and stared straight ahead! I was like "What's happening?" and my sister was like "Sssshhhh!!!!" I just carried on looking through the bra rail, as I was a bit intimidated- seriously, the whole department store was SILENT! The escalators even stopped working. Then a baby started crying, which was funny. I only realised that you have 2 minutes silence on the closest Sunday to the 11th when my dad told me later on. Now I feel really dumb! I'll definitely be stopping for a couple of minutes on Tuesday, though! xx
  6. You are talking about Veteran's Day, November 11. Why don't you call it that. USA
  7. Yes I did.
  8. Yes, I was teaching the sunday school and we all stopped for one minute. Those kids just couldn't keep still though! They had their coughing fits, and they dropped pencils, and tapped their feet - I remember being little though, and it is awfully hard to keep still for so long! I'll have another on tuesday by myself.
  9. dottielasvegas, it's remembrance Sunday in the UK because it's not just for the war veterans, it's for men and women still fighting and remembering all they put on the line for us everyday, it's for remembering the people who died putting their life on the line. Not just veterans, that's why it's called REMEMBRANCE Sunday. I went to a ceremony (I was on parade with the cadets) and I honestly believe the priest was going senile, the gun went off which signalises the beginning of the two minutes silence normally, then the bugle started (another signal) then the priest started a prayer about half way through, I was like what??????? So I tried to observe it, but nobody at that ceremony got a chance. I will definitely be remembering my dad on Tuesday though. 11 o'clock is the start of break at my school so I figure we're staying in lessons for an extra two minutes just so the teachers know some of the younger children are observing it. I think it's absurd that people just ignored the two minutes silence today, but I do sort of understand, it's not the 11th of November today, so a peace treaty wasn't signed today, so for some people it doesn't make sense to observe the silence today, but they probably will do on Tuesday. Maybe some people didn't realise what time or day it was.
  10. I was in the middle of a harp lesson and i forgot, but i will have one on tuesday because I'll be in school and we always have one.
  11. No unfortunately i was stuck in a traffic jam due to a rememberance parade on the way home from B&Q i think i cursed more in that minute than anything. But all due respect to our boys who all did us proud x
