How does ebay bidding work?

I am looking to buy a car radio off ebay. Currently the bid is at $21.50. However the auction will end 2mr while i am in school. Im willing to pay $70 for the radio.....if i place $70 as my bid will i need to pay $70 if I win or how does that work? Thanks!

1. $70 is your maximum bid. A bot will bid on your behalf until the price exceeds your maximum bid. If the price doesn't reach your maximum bid, you only pay the amount of the winning bid. If the winning bid is, let's say $50, you would only have to pay $50 plus shipping costs.
