Ebay confusion? Tips for winning. . . ?
Ok I read this on ebay - 'Only actual bids (not automatic bids generated up to a bidder's maximum) are shown. Automatic bids may be placed days or hours before a listing ends. Learn more about bidding'. So this means I can bid £30 even though the start price is say £2.00 but this is not shown to others. . . ??

- Thats right. They won't see it.
- Yes, type in the maximum you are prepared to pay and ebay will bid for you up to that price. You may win or you may not! Good Luck x
- correct , but don't do it ! wait until the last minute if you can , then bid up to your maximum. you will find that you will artificially push the price up long before the end if you bid early. everyone bids at the end and you will find the price will be dormant until the last minute. ps. if you really want to win the item , email me and i will send you a free link to accomplish this. . dave.
- Decide what you want to pay and enter that. If the opening bid is 99p your rebid will be 99p. If someone else bids a higher figure the ebay computer will automatically top them by the bidding amount, ie. perhaps 20p. This goes on automatically until the end or you get overbid. It is psychologically annoying to another bidder if you trump them every time, quite often they just give up and you get it for a song!
- sort of it means if the item is at $2 and you put a bid in at $30 and I put a bid in at $28 then the aotomatic jumps are not shown. if you click on the Bidding link under the price you would see $2, $28, $30 even tho both our bids may have started at the $2 mark.
