What is the best real estate company to work for and why? i.e. century 21 or coldwell banker?

1. Century 21 & Coldwell Banker are owned by the same company. Personally Coldwell Banker has a much better reputation. I wouldn't even consider C21.
2. As stated earlier, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, and ERA are all owned by Realogy. The largest of the three is Coldwell, followed by C21 and then ERA. More importantly than for which franchise you work is the ownership of the franchise involved. Coldwell has many corporate owned franchises, as well as many privately owned franchises. It's the management and operation of the particular firm which is far more important than the 'brand name' you select.
