Belt Auction

EBAY does this look like shill bidding to you? the item was a baby's exersaucer that i'm the high bidder on.

starting bid was $25. i bid $25.50 but later raised my max bid to $31.50. later the same person bid $26, $28, $30. I've tried to contact them with no response. They have bought 3 items in the last 6 years spaced out. does it look like the seller has a seperate account he uses just to raise the price of his items.

  1. I think that people do this all of the time to make sure that they get a decent price for the items that they're selling...Although, I don't know that there is anyway to prove it or anything that Ebay would do about it....
  2. It could be shill bidding but it could also be someone trying to get the same item. If it was shill bidding, I think you'd see a lot of the sellers items being bid on by that same person. Go look at their items they have sold and see if there is a pattern. By this I mean ... The person that put the 3 bids in under you will show up in the bid lists of many of the items from the seller you are trying to win the baby item from. Doesn't mean they will be the winner if they are only trying to bid the price up.
  3. You could easily contact ebay to find out if they are the same person. Not sure if you can request their information if you don't have a transaction with them. Check here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ9
