i've been suspended from ebay for a minumim of 7 days for 'shill' bidding, i need help to reinstate my account

my teenage kids set up phoney accounts in my name and bid on my items to push the bids up to help me out as i'm a single parent and short of cash! i didnt know about this until i confronted them about it yesterday! I've explained this to ebay but they still wont reinstate my account! I've thought about setting up another account using a different bank account/credit card but will they suspend that account cos it'll be in the same name? HELP - i've got bomb loads of stuff i need to sell, its taking over my house!!!

1. ebay won't listen to you. Set up another account and bollox to them.. what are you trying to sell? Maybe give me 1st refusal!
2. Just suck it up for 7 days. The bright side is that they didn't ban you permanently from ebay. That will happen the next time you let your kids do that. I can't believe you didn't see any pattern in those bids coming from your kids and using your name.
3. ebay are very harsh when it comes to 'cheating the system' (except nigerian scammers obviously) so if the only punishment is 7 days suspension then i'd consider yourself VERY lucky. because believe me if they ban you for good, you are banned FOR GOOD - they have software to cross reference name/address/bank/email/ip address details automatically across their userbase and re-ban you the second they get a match.

5. just use a different credit card with the same name and make sure it doesn't happen again
6. USE THE PARENTAL LOCK ON THE COMPUTER THEN ASK YOUR KIDS AS THEY SEEM TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS THAN YOU GET A FRIEND TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT FOR YOU OR STAND UP AND TAKE THE PUNISHMENT FOR NOT SUPERVISING YOUR KIDS YOU COULD TRY A CAR BOOT SALE OR A GARAGE SALE FROM YOUR HOME
7. Be very wary of setting up another account, even with different bank details. If eBay do find you out, then an IP ban could be instated, which means that any access from your computer to any transaction would be banned. Stick it out for the 7 days, keep in contact with eBay, on a civil level, and make sure it doesnt happen again...

10. There is not much you can do. Be thankful it is only seven days and learn to keep your ebay password secret from your kids. setting up another account won't work because payment details will be similar and Ebay is wise to that now. Learn your lesson about internet security, protect your passwords and move on.
11. Ebay has some very strict policies regarding this. I understand you didn't know your kids were doing this and they were trying to help, but ebay is quite serious in their policies. Maybe you should try a different auction site. If you do, make it clear to your kids that their actions caused you to no longer be able to do business on ebay and forbid them to ever do anything like that again. There are lots of auction sites, but ebay is simply well known because of all its advertising. All the auction sites will have policies against doing this type of thing so be careful. Some of your items you can sell on Amazon. You might also want to try www.ubid.com or www.a-u-c-t-i-o-n.us just to name a few. I don't think some respondants to the question actually understand that your kids didn't get into your account but created ficticious accounts. Also, if ebay DOES reinstate your account eventually, just set a minimum price on your auction, so your kids wont feel like that have to dishonestly inflate the value of your auction.

14. Shill bidding? Then you deserve to be suspended. I don't believe your kids did it I think you did and you are p*ssed off because you got caught. If you are so hard up how can your house be full of saleable gear? It's people like you who con honest bidders out of money.

16. 7 days is not too long to wait considering the "crime". I would use that time wisely, perhaps getting your future auctions pre-prepared as that usually takes a bit of time(easier if you use a bulk listing programme). I would seriously consider changing your eBay password when the account is reinstated and not using the auto password fill in to retain some independence and control over your account. I'm presuming that your kids had easy access to your credit card and bank details in order to set up duplicate accounts (as these are required to set up an account) unless you also have those details set up to automatically fill in on the compy which although very convenient is a bit of a risk (imagine if your computer was stolen, all these details would just get automatically filled in) Maybe It might be wise all round to set up a new account with a separate bank account dedicated to eBay only and known only to yourself. 17. wow- your kids must have an excellent parent then huh!? Who teaches their kid to cheat and lie?? They didnt just come up with this on their own. You should be banned. Kid doing it or not.. you are the primary reason I dont shop on Ebay anymore. Take your stuff and have a garage sale. And cheating ebay again by creating another fake account just goes to show what kind of person you are. despicable.
