Jesus was a carpenter, but how come you never see his stuff on Antiques Roadshow?

Public Comments

  1. Poor workmanship.
  2. It's about 2,000 years old so they have probably been destroyed.
  3. He only did miniatures so he could get them through the eye of a needle
  4. hahaha
  5. because fanatics are still hoarding them in their basements and two bench churches
  6. Because everything he made was innapropriate for TV
  7. He was a carpenter. He just wasn't a very good carpenter.
  8. Apparently the stuff he built doesn't have the staying power of the Hepplewhite artisan carpenters.
  9. because he lived over 2,000 years ago sweaty :)
  10. Ha Ha very funny!!
  11. you just have to have faith that he made superb 3 legged tables etc - if you need TV proof you just don't get it
  12. if you had something that Jesus built would sell it
  13. Yecky (lol) you are always speaking harshly about the Lord. Do you not believe at all that we are created for more than just ingesting food and working for our oen benefit? Jesus is someone who I will pledge my life to you, and may I die a horrible death if I lie, that we all are going to meet. I will die in defense of these words. Come with me my sister and we can go see him together.
  14. There's no direct proof that he was a carpenter. He was really referred to as "the carpenter's son", which is often misquoted in one passage as "is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary....". However, it's incorrect. We don't really have proof of his being a carpenter, yet he is called "teacher" and "rabbi" many times.
  15. He gave up the family business to take his own show on the road.
  16. Another great question for my "List of Moronic Questions Atheists Ask Christians, In an Attempt to Ridicule."
  17. lmfao!!..
  18. Because in those days no one would have thought to preserve anything Jesus made. He wasn't considered "all powerful God" yet.
  19. Hot dogs.
  20. Maybe he made wooden sex toys? The church wouldn't like that; against their Jesus was a virgin or whatever belief ... even though he clearly did whatshername (Mary?) repeatedly...
  21. The carpenter in Israel would be employed in constructing houses and, in later times, structures such as synagogues. Although buildings were for the most part made of stone or earth, some wood was used, for example, in beams and doors. The things constructed by the carpenter in Bible times included furniture, such as tables, stools, and benches. Many implements such as plows and threshing sledges were partly or entirely made of wood. (2Sa 24:22) In the construction of the tabernacle and its furnishings, Bezalel and Oholiab were especially guided by Jehovah God. His spirit accentuated their ability to do the finest work in wood, as well as other materials. (Ex 31:2-11) Skilled workers in wood were brought from Tyre for the building of David’s house. (2Sa 5:11) Zerubbabel used carpenters in building the second temple in Jerusalem.—Ezr 3:7. Jesus was called not only “the carpenter’s son” (Mt 13:55) but “the carpenter” as well. (Mr 6:3) Since the Hebrew father usually taught his son his trade, Jesus no doubt learned carpentry from his adoptive father Joseph. The number of times the houses in Israel has been destoryed over the past 2000 years, there is little chance that any survived. And any wood would have burned in the fires, or worn out with age.
  22. I have a pair of some cool Birkenstocks that he used to wear while bartending.
