PLEASE READ ANY MAKE ANY CHANGE OR GRAMMAR MISTAKE YOU SEE The poem called Auction by Leona Gom is set under a sad, gloomy, depressing, and unhappy tone. The context of the poem seems to be one of an unforgettable bad memory selling precious things for money. The poem seems to surround itself with the idea that the worst thing in life is to give up what you love and the memory from it. It seems that the father is died and the family had to sell everything they have because they needed the money and support. So they auction belongings of their father as the mother tries not to cry but burst into tears after items are sold. The mother, brave, alone, and upset of the deceased of her love and the auctioneer crying, sold for one dollar set the gloomy nature and the writer emphasizes the mood, the weather, the scene. Losing someone you love-especially a parent-can turn your life upside down. How we each deal with death is different-some shed tears while others remain strong through the days. The speaker is saying that you cannot take away one’s life memories with the selling of possession, the tone sounds strong and sad at the same time, and true full. The writer is speaking about how brave this woman is in all this change that is happening to her, and how ones days rain cannot get rid of the life she lived...which lives in her own mind forever. Nothing washed away....reflects how one days rain cannot remove anything in us we are more than just things we are love, we are our memories.
