Why aren't more pictures showing on Realtor.com?
Our house has been listed for about 2 weeks. Our realtor took several pictures which show up on Zillow and several other real estate websites. Why does Realtor.com only have one picture for our house? Our agent said that we would need to pay about $1000 to have the rest of the pictures posted on there, but I don't think she really knows what she's talking about. Doesn't Realtor.com pull all of the pictures that are on the Trend/MLS website?

- With Realtor.com you have to pay extra to have enhanced services. This would include extra pics, and some other extra features. Our office pays for it, many don't. ADD: There may be other cheaper or free sights. Realtor.com may charge extra but they get the hits. Exposure is the name of the game. It still a good value when you look at other forms of advertisement.
- Your agent is blowing smoke. Realtor.com allows a certain number of photos - I believe it's eight but maybe someone else here knows better - with the listing. If your realtor is this clueless maybe you should fire her and find someone who will be more attentive to your needs.
- Realtor.com is about the only website that requires the Realtor to pay so that it will load additional photos. I think it is a stupid and outdated business plan. I think most buyers go to other websites so they can look at all the photos.
- Realtor.com was originally a free site to all of the Realtors who were members of the Association of Realtors. After all of the Realtors began using the site, the Association began charging a fee for its members to use the site. Then they began selling advertising upgrades like pictures and banners as a la carte items to its members. I personally prefer sites like http://www.lotshopper.tv over Realtor.com, where the site really provides a lot of great visuals and the information that buyers are truly looking for today.
- Perhaps you should look at PostYourHome.com. They currently have an introductory special where you can create as many Virtual Open House tours as you like (for realitors) with as many photos as you like for an annual fee of $20. PostYourHome.com
- OMG. No.... I think the fee is $19.95 not $1000 to have expanded listings on Realtor.com That's what our Virtual Tour site says Realtor.com charges anyway. Our listings show on Realtor.com but only with one main photo. We don't pay extra to have additional photos there. Realtor.com wants to make more money in order to show more photos. If your agent is not a Realtor, (not a member of the Association of Realtors), then yes, maybe it would be an additional $1000, but I doubt it. That would fall onto your agent, not YOU. Not all licensed real estate agents are Realtors, just as all doctors do not belong to the AMA. It is a professional organization which costs an annual fee to be a member. ($300 per year in my area) Postlets.com is free. Tell your agent about it & have them get a free account. It posts your listing to a dozen FREE real estate classified sites, plus they get the html code to post your home on Craigslist. Here's one of mine: http://www.postlets.com/res/698893
