Where can I find the actual selling prices of homes in a new development?

I'm interested in buying a house in a new development, and before making an offer I'd like to know how much other houses in the neighborhood sold for. Since real estate transactions are a matter of public record, I was hoping there would be an Internet site that could show me this info - but I'm not finding it. I've looked at Zillow.com and similar sites, but they only seem to have info for existing houses that have been sold from one owner to another. Does anyone know where I can find actual selling prices for a new development, in which homeowners are buying directly from the builder? Thanks so much!

1. This information is available in your local MLS (Multiple Listing Service), so the easiest way to get it is from a real estate agent. Seems like everybody knows a realtor, so you could just ask a friend or acquaintance who's licensed. It would take them all of 2 minutes to pull that info for you, so they shouldn't mind too much. Or if anyone you know is a title officer, they could find it also.
