What are your opinions of this gun?
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=125695565 I want a 9mm pistol for self defense. I heard that the Beretta 92 was quite popular. Is it a good pistol for self defense? Is it possible to conceal carry this weapon, and if so, what kind of holster would be best?

- Nice gun. Price them around to make sure you don't bid too much.
- beretta 92 is quick nice. But i would get a 9mm pistol so you dont total their body.
- The Beretta 92 is the basis for the current US military service pistol, the M9. It prevailed after an extensive competition among nearly every gun maker in the world. It's also been adopted, or at least authorized, for use b y numerous police departments in the US. It's a good gun. It's more expensive than I'd like, but I'm just a cheapskate. Depending upon your build, and your preferred style of clothing, any pistol can be concealable. You'll have to try several different types of holsters to figure out which best suits you.
- The Beretta 92 FS is one of the finest 9mm pistols available it is accurate, reliable, easy to maintain however this is a large gun and will require one to build their wardrobe around this gun to properly conceal this weapon. An inside the waist band holster would probably be your best choice.
- nice guns but i prefer a larger caliber like 45acp
- Way too big for concealed carry. Has a large round grip compared to competition. If you don't own any firearm yet, start with a .22 revolver.
- I prefer the Taurus 92 over the Beretta...I like where the thumb safety and decocker is located better. As for conceal carry. It may be a little big. At least for me it would be. Remember that when it comes to CCW you should look for something that cannot be seen at all and worn comfortably for up to 10 hours a day... http://www.taurususa.com/products/gunselector-results.cfm?series=LF1 Possible better choice for CCW http://www.taurususa.com/products/gunselector-results.cfm?series=MP1 http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd.php?model=2
- The Beretta 92 and it's copies and variations, including the US M9, is a very large, very heavy steel gun. The problem with the Beretta is the distance between the trigger face and the butt of the gun. If I take a proper grip on the gun, my trigger (index) finer cannot reach the trigger! I may be able to just touch it, but there's no way that can control it! This makes the gun inappropriate for me. Before you shell out the big $ on this beast, go to your local dealer and see if the Beretta fits your hand! When I worked in the gun stores, a lot of guys came in seeking Berettas, but left with Glocks, SIGs, 1911s, and even Browning Hi-Powers!
