how should i wash my white leather belt?

would it be a good or bad idea to wash my white leather belt in the washing machine? i wont put in the dryer though. if no what other ways could i wash it?

1. Bad idea to put in washer. Try plain shaving foam. Spray on the belt, let sit for a minute or two and wipe off with a clean,damp cloth.
2. damp cloth put a spot or two of washing up liquid on it and wipe the belt over. rinse out cloth and wipe of soap. Dry with a towel.
